Luther “Skip” Ober, 88, of Manheim, formerly of Lititz, died peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Pleasant View Retirement Community.
Born in Clay, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Edna Zartman Ober. Skip was the loving husband of Lorraine Young Ober and they would have observed their 71st wedding anniversary in October of this year.
He was the owner and operator of I. Luther Ober Masonry & Son, Lititz; and, with his wife, was co-owner of Rodney Lane and Sturgis Lane Laundromats, of Lititz. Skip was a faithful and active member of Brickerville United Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and on church council.
For many years Skip served as a supervisor for Elizabeth Township. He was a member of Baron Stiegel Lions Club. Skip enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling to his hunting cabin in Lycoming County, as well as being a member of the Wilkins Flat Hunting Camp, where he enjoyed hunting.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Lorraine, are two sons: Terry L., husband of Lyndelle Ober; Barry L., husband of Denise Ober; a daughter: Phyllis L., wife of J. Robert Peters, all of Lititz; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother: L. Carl Ober, of Ephrata; two sisters: S. Kathryn Zimmerman of Brethren Village; and Verna Jean, wife of Carl Lorah of Ephrata.
Preceding him in death are three brothers: J. Russell Ober, P. Alton Ober ,and E. Lester Ober.
Services were held June 14 at Brickerville United Lutheran Church, Lititz. Interment was St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville.
