Jane Hess, 94, Miller Hess Shoe worker, long-time Salem Lutheran choir member

Jane Hess, 94, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Fairmount Homes.

She was the widow of the late Clyde H. Hess who passed away June 14, 2001. Born in Martindale, Jane was a daughter of the late Harvey M. and Cora M. (Dickersheid) Horst.

She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ephrata, where she was a Sunday school teacher and secretary, and 40-year member of the choir.

Jane worked at the former Miller Hess Shoe Company of Akron 40 years. She was a life member of the Lincoln Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Friendly Circle of Lincoln.

She is survived by one son: Donald Hess, husband of Bobbie, of Nottingham, Md.; two granddaughters: Ellen Trujillo and Cindy Folderauer; four great-grandchildren: Larry, Jacqueline, Ryan, and Jessica; and two great-great-grandchildren: Lenna and Alyzah.

Also surviving are three of Jane’s siblings: Shirley, wife of Earl Wise of Ephrata; Robert Dickersheid, companion of Sarah, of Ephrata; and Herman Horst, husband of Rosie, of Lancaster.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by three sisters: Vera Hostetter, Mae Gehman, and Mildred Strauss; and two brothers: Walter and Harvey Horst Jr.

Services were held June 19 at Bergstrasse Lutheran Church, 9 Ephrata, with Rev. Jeffrey Goodman officiating. She was interred in Lincoln Cemetery, Ephrata.
