Patricia Ann Bantz, 84, United Airlines secretary, avid seamstress, Ephrata league bowler

Patricia Ann Bantz, 84, of Lancaster, passed away June 8, 2016 at home.

Born in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Victor A. and Margaret L. (Diekmann) Neff. Pat was the loving wife for 46 years of Raymond V. Bantz.

She was a secretary in the flight engineering group for United Airlines in San Francisco, Calif. Pat adored sewing and made most of her own clothing, including her wedding gown. Raymond and Pat enjoyed bowling together, and were active in several leagues in the Ephrata area. She also liked to cross-stitch.

Pat was preceded in death by a brother: Phillip Neff.

No formal services will be held in the Lancaster County area. Patricia will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Youth Bowling Committee at Lancaster USBC, 3440 Columbia Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603; or to 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Centers for Children, 213 West Chester St., Lancaster, PA 17603.

Claude G. Young Sr., 88, long-time Rothsville Fire Chief, Ford New Holland retiree, father of five

Claude G. Young Sr., 88, formerly of Rothsville, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz.

He was born in Rothsville to the late Helen (Young) Reedy but was raised by his grandparents, the late John G. and Estella B. Young. He was the husband of Ethel M. (Hollinger) Young, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.

Claude was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Rothsville. He was also a life member of the Rothsville Volunteer Fire Company serving for 72 years. He was a Past Fire Chief, and served as Fire Chief for 30 years (1958-1988). He also served as the Fire Prevention Officer for the company for many years. He was a Past President and life member of the Lancaster County Firemen’s Association, a life member of the Keystone State Fire Chief’s Association, and a member of the Lancaster County Fire Chief’s Association.

He was a member of the Rothsville Rabbit Hillers and the Rothsville Bicentennial Committee. He was a member of the Ephrata Lodge No. 665 Free and Accepted Masons for 41 years. He was a member of the Lititz Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Claude was employed in the manufacturing facility for New Holland Machine Co. for 41 years, retiring from Ford New Holland.

In addition to his wife, Claude is survived by four sons: Claude Jr., husband of Gloria Young, of Lititz; Gary, husband of Sharye Young, of Ephrata; Craig, husband of Deborah of Lititz; John, husband of Jody Young of Lititz; a daughter: Linda, wife of Allen Lutz, of Lititz; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Jane Peters and Elizabeth Derby.

A viewing will be held Friday, June 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St., Lititz. An additional viewing will be held Saturday, June 18, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the church, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., with Pastor Larry Leister officiating. Interment will take place in the Millport Mennonite Cemetery.

A memorial service for RainBear (RB) Mahoney, the medicine woman of the Eastern Delaware Nations, who passed away April 12, has been planned.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the service at Eicher Arts Center’s Indian Museum at the Ephrata Park, 407 Cocalico St., Ephrata, on Solstice, Monday June 20, at 7 p.m., with a visitation to follow.

RB studied the medicinal uses of the world’s herbs with a practical knowledge and traditional accuracy in order to aid people, native or not, to health through alternative methods.

RainBear’s passion for working with dogs was evident in her calming touch when she was grooming them and in her energy as a handler when she was showing them. She was known for her giving nature and willingly shared her knowledge of dogs and medicinal use of herbs with those she knew and met.

Leslie M. ‘Les’ Sweigart, 71, Vietnam vet, Ames & Ewells driver, enjoyed sailing, western movie buff

Leslie M. “Les” Sweigart, 71, Mohnton, passed this world on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, due to complications from a fall.

He was the husband and best friend of Louise A. (Good) Sweigart for 28 years. Born in Reamstown, he was a son of Pauline K. (Buohl) Sweigart, Denver, and the late Alton W. Sweigart.

Les was a truck driver for Ames and Ewells, obtaining one million miles plus. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, sailing with Windjammer buddies, was a western movie buff, and an avid USA patriot. Les was Vietnam War Air Force veteran, and a member of Reinholds VFW, Adamstown Rod and Gun Club, New Holland Legion, and the Fritztown and Gouglersville fire companies.

Also surviving are his sisters: Linda, married to Gary Youndt; and Brenda, married to Brent “Merf” Burkholder; and a brother: Benjamin “Ben,” married to Karin (Garner) Sweigart, all of Denver; sisters-in-law: Deb (Grosteffon) Sweigart, Roseland, Va.; Lorraine (Good), married to Dennis Burkholder; Lori (Good), married to Michael Yohn; Linda (Good), married to Rich Marburger; and mother-in-law: Shirley (Groff) Good.

Brothers: Alton “Jerry” and Gary Sweigart; and father-in-law: Wayne Good, predeceased him.

Graveside services with military honors were held June 21 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Ephrata, with the Rev. Stephen E. Hollinger officiating.

Leonard Roberts, 62, nuclear energy technician and advisor, enjoyed sailing, cycling

Leonard Roberts, 62, Adamstown, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, on June 18, 2016.

Born in Northville, Mich., a son of the late Clarence F. and Edna M. (Heymes) Roberts, he was the husband of Sherill A. (Sinz) Roberts for 42 years.

Len was a specialty technician and advisor in the nuclear energy industry. He was a member of Lodge No. 62, Reading, Free & Accepted Masons, and Valley of Reading Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. Traveling, riding motorcycles, and sailing were some of Len’s passions.

Also surviving is a daughter: Allyson Lynann Boyer, partner of Carl Liptak, Womelsdorf; son: Leonard Roberts Jr., Reading; granddaughters: Kaylee, Elizabeth, Avina, and Savannah; sisters: Joy Jones and Irene Walker; and brothers: Neal and Frank Roberts.

A sister, Betty, predeceased him.

The viewing will be Saturday, June 25, from noon to 2 p.m., at Good Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with Masonic service at 2 p.m., followed by a time of sharing.

Erma Sue Martin, 50, of East Earl, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at home.

She was born in Lebanon to the late M. Eugene and Verna (Patches) Brubaker, and was the wife of Nelson M. Martin, with whom she shared 26 years of marriage.

Erma was a member of Faith Mennonite Fellowship. She was a homemaker, and her love was her family. She enjoyed reading, cooking, cross stitching, sewing, and gardening.

In addition to her husband, Erma is survived by two sons: Darnell T. Martin; Austin S. Martin, fiancé of Amber Musser; two daughters: Kinita J. Martin, Chelsea L. Martin; three brothers: Mark E., husband of Linda Brubaker, of Mount Joy; Carl L., husband of Marilyn Brubaker, of Lititz; Henry A., husband of Sharon Brubaker, of Mount Joy; two sisters: Kathy J., wife of Philip Steiner, of Fredericksburg, Ohio; and Grace M. Brubaker of Lewiston, Maine.

Services were held June 17 at Faith Mennonite Fellowship, Stevens, with Bishop Earl R. Martin officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.

Brenda Lynn Heck, 46, of Adamstown, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 14, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Reading to the late Elwood Stapleton Jr. and Dianne (Cerniglia) Stapleton Millisock, and was the wife of Charles Heck, with whom she shared 12 years of marriage.

Brenda was a 1988 graduate of Cocalico High School. She enjoyed reading books about love stories, and she loved animals, especially cats. She worked as a manager for the Black Forest Motel, Adamstown. She was also a member of the Adamstown VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by two brothers: Barry Stapleton, companion of Carol Moyer, of Ephrata; and Randy, husband of Ruth (Zimmerman) Stapleton; a sister: Donna Shaner of Muhlenberg; two nieces; two nephews, four great-nieces; and two great-nephews.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 22, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Keith Sweitzer officiating. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Wilbur Thomas Hartranft, 93, dairy farmer, hay hauler, competed in plowing contests, avid hunter

Wilbur Thomas Hartranft, 93, of Bethel, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was born in Ephrata to the late William and Annie (Sweigart) Hartranft, and was the husband of Pauline Y. (Knauer) Hartranft.

Wilbur was a member of Blainsport Mennonite Church. He was a dairy farmer and hauled hay for local farmers for 38 years. After retiring he enjoyed helping his sons on their farm. He also enjoyed hunting and horses in which he competed in plowing contests.

In addition to his wife, Wilbur is survived by six children: Lillian Ann, wife of R. Bernell Burkholder, of Bethel; Ella Elaine Hartranft of Bernville; Wilbur Thomas Jr., husband of Linda (Hollinger) Hartranft, of Selinsgrove; John William Hartranft of Bernville; Kathryn Mae, wife of Scott Reed, of Lebanon; Stanley George Hartranft of Milan; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Harry Hartranft of Womelsdorf; and Leroy, husband of Kathryn (Knauer) Hartranft, of Bernville.

He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, and six brothers and sisters.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Blainsport Mennonite Church, 85 S. Blainsport Road, Reinholds. An additional viewing will be held at the church on Thursday, June 23, from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10 a.m., with Bishop Keith Weaver officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Stephen M. Dunmire, 54, Goodhart Sons accountant, avid sports fan, enjoyed camping, beach

Stephen M. Dunmire, 54, Ephrata, died unexpectedly on June 17, 2016, at Ephrata Hospital.

Born in Hollidaysburg, a son of the late Kenneth C. and Golda D. (Claar) Dunmire, he was a 1979 Hollidaysburg High School graduate and received his associates degree with honors from Elmira Business Institute, Elmira, N.Y.

He was a junior accountant with Goodhart Sons, Leola. Stephen was a member of Olive Leaf Bible Church, Sinking Spring; and Reservoir Bible Church, Hollidaysburg; and attended St. John’s Reformed Church, Sinking Spring. He was an avid sports fan, specifically of Pittsburgh teams, Penn State, and the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers. He enjoyed camping, Myrtle Beach trips, and family times, especially with his nieces and nephews.

Surviving is his life partner: Steven M. Bowman, at home; sisters: Sylvia Adams, Columbia, S.C.; Shirley Martz, Cresson; Sara Helsel, Duncansville; Dorothy Kauruter, Elgin, S.C.; and Diane Eyer, Altoona; brothers: Richard Dunmire, Manheim; and Timothy Dunmire, Lititz. He was the proud “father” of his Miniature Schnauzers: Ellie, Annie, Gracie; and the late Abby and Ally.

Brothers, Gary, Paul, and Wayne, predeceased him.

A viewing will be held Saturday, June 25, from 10 to 11 a.m., from Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola, with services at 11 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear Pittsburgh or Penn State colors.

James Harold Cassel, 60, worked at RR Donnelley, outdoorsman, athlete, animal lover

James Harold Cassel, 60, of Denver, died peacefully at his home in the presence of his family on the morning of June 14, 2016.

Born in Sellersville, on June 12, 1956, Jim was the youngest child of the late Dr. Harold K. and Evelyn R. Cassel (Hafler). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Nancy J. Cassel.

Jim is survived by his constant companion of 37 years and wife of 32 years, Patricia Orbock (Griest); children: Ezra James Cassel (fiancé Morgan Slovin); and daughter Jasmine Jay Stauffer (husband Donald Stauffer); sisters: Barbara Christopher, of Conway, S.C.; J. Susan Ludwig, wife of Earl, of Telford; Donna Godshall, wife of David, of Hatfield; brother: Donald Cassel, husband of Suzanne, of Chadds Ford; and beloved collie: Louie.

Jim was a 1974 graduate of Souderton Area High School and attended Millersville State College, where he played basketball for the Marauders. He was a loyal employee of RR Donnelley and Sons for 40 years, where he was a digital graphics premedia technician, known as The Judge.

Jim was a hard-working man who loved the home that he built. He was a tinkerer who enjoyed woodworking, hobby farming, and gardening. Jim also loved animals, nature, the outdoors, and catching the big fish.

As a talented athlete, Jim loved to teach his children, enjoying golf with his son, mini-golf with his daughter, as well as basketball, volleyball, and tennis. And when he wasn’t playing, he was watching. That Jimmy-Jam also loved his music and getting together with college friends.

Jim was a loving husband and father, who devoted his life to making his family happy. He will always be proud of his son’s career in renewable energy and his daughter’s pursuit in the medical field at the PA program at Penn State Hershey.

As a quiet, peaceful man, Jim was adored by friends, family, and in-laws alike. He fought valiantly for a cure for over two years, and continues to fight after death by donating his body to Research and Medical Education.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Betty L. Buchter, 87, Akron Restaurant retiree, Adamstown VFW lifer, loved bingo

Betty L. Buchter, 87, of Denver, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in West Cocalico Township to the late Victor E. and Ada W. (Lutz) Hehnly, and was married for 45 years to the late Earl I. Buchter, who passed away in 1993.

She retired in 1990 from the Akron Restaurant, where she worked in the kitchen. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed word searches, crocheting, and especially spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a life member of Adamstown VFW.

Betty is survived by a son: Jackie L. Buchter of Ephrata; and a daughter: Debra K., wife of Barry L. Martzall, of Denver; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three siblings: Evelyn M., wife of Richard Landis, of Ephrata; Pauline F. of Ephrata; and Karl V. Hehnly of Mount Airy.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by companion: Norman Long, who passed away in 2011; two sons: James B. Buchter and Larry K. Buchter; and three sisters: Anna M. Nixdorf, Mary Hehnly, and Pearl Hehnly.

Services were held June 17 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Joseph Veres officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Steven Thomas Andriani, 18, recent Ephrata H.S. grad, worked at Indian Run Farm, outdoorsman

Steven Thomas Andriani, 18, of Ephrata, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016, as result of injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident.

He was born in Hershey to Thomas and Jennifer (Matto) Andriani of Ephrata.

Steven was a member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene. He worked as a farm hand for Indian Run Farm. Steven was a 2016 graduate of Ephrata High School, where he was a member of the rifle and track teams. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, visiting Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, and riding motorcycle. He loved hanging out with friends and family, especially game nights; and his dog Hoagie. He was also a fan of the New York Giants.

In addition to his parents, Steven is survived by two sisters: Rebecca, wife of Daniel Miller; and Kathleen “Kat” Andriani, partner of Kathryn Bussman, both of Ephrata; aunts and uncles: Mike Matto; John, husband of Margaret Gates; Dave, husband of Patty Leid; cousins: Joe Lauderman, Olivia and Rachel Matto, Drew, Joe and Mark Gates, Olivia Leid; nieces and nephews: Hunter, Hayden, Hailey, and Hudson Miller; and girlfriend: Brianna Reed.

Services were held June 21 at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, Ephrata, with Pastors Rocky Hambrick and Kenneth Higginbotham officiating. Interment took place in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Robert G. Mellinger, owned Bob’s American Used Cars, helped build PA turnpike

Robert G. Mellinger, 85, of Ephrata, passed away, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Roland and Kathryn (Weitzel) Mellinger, and was the husband of the late Mary R. (Rice) Mellinger with whom he had shared 61 years of marriage before her passing in 2013.

Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was the owner/operator of Bob’s American Used Cars for 54 years, which he started at Schaum’s Corner before moving to Ephrata in 1973. He was a buyer at the Garden Spot Auto Auction since its beginning. Earlier in his career he drove a milk truck, and had helped build the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was known to the nurses as “the flashlight man.” The family would like to thank all of his buddies who visited while he was sick.

Bob is survived by his five children: Kathy A., wife of Doug Weaver, of Ephrata; Mary K., wife of Glen Weaver, of Lititz, Robert G. Jr., husband of Michelle Mellinger, of Ephrata; Jean L., wife of Kurt Martin, of Akron; Betty M., wife of Chris Witthuhn, of Drums; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter: Amanda M. Brynarsky; a brother: Roland Mellinger; and a foster sister: Winifred.

Services were held June 20 at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, Ephrata. Interment was in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.

The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

Bernice I. Boyer, 90, Colonial Lodge caregiver, Salem E&R member, enjoyed cooking

Bernice I. Boyer, 90, of Stevens, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in Mohnton to the late Benjamin Franklin and Mamie (Snader) Steffy, and was the wife of the late Jonathan H. Boyer, who passed away in 2005.

She was a member of the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Reamstown. She enjoyed cooking and being a caregiver to others. Bernice formerly worked as a caregiver in the personal care section of the Colonial Lodge.

Bernice is survived by two daughters: Barbara F., wife of Paul E. Brubaker Jr., of Ephrata; and Constance M. Boyer, at home; two granddaughters: Angela M. Brubaker and Amanda S. Groff.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Mabel Witwer, Goldie Beamesderfer, and Etta Forry.

Gloria Jean Blaebaum, 89, of Lancaster, passed away June 22 at Conestoga View Nursing Home. She was a successful business woman who took great pride in the business establishments she managed. Along with her husband she owned and operated the Paddock Inn in Eden, the Bite and Chew Sandwich Shop, and J&W Lottery and News. Gloria enjoyed cooking, loved the outdoors, spending time working in her yard and gardening. Her daughter, Eileen Martin, wife of Gary; and a granddaughter, Tania (Martin) Zaliznock, wife of Craig, lives in Ephrata.

Bernice LaRue (Krick) Fisher, 81, born in Fritztown, lived in Ephrata, most recently of Welsh Mountain Home in New Holland, passed away June 24 at the Lutheran Home at Topton.

Warren W. Hershey, 90, of Gordonville, passed away June 19 at Fairmount Homes. Warren farmed for 14 years on his dad’s farm, and later was employed by C.B. Hoober, Inc. for 20 years. He and Betty were also supervisors for the Shaklee Corporation for 20 years. A lifelong member of Hershey’s Mennonite Church, Warren served as secretary/treasurer for 15 years and also as a trustee. His daughter, Karen, wife of Rick Martin, lives in Ephrata.

Esther B. Kurtz Martin, 88, homemaker, enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family

Esther B. Kurtz Martin, 88, of Denver, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at her daughter’s residence.

She was born in Martindale to the late Frank Jr. and Lydia (Burkholder) Hurst, and was the wife of John K. Martin with whom she shared 22 years of marriage. She was also the wife of the late Elmer B. Kurtz, who passed away in 1992.

She was a member of Green Terrace Mennonite Church, Wernersville. Esther was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family, quilting, and gardening. She had a heart for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children: David H., husband of Cheryl (Burkhart) Kurtz, of Stevens; Mary Jane, wife of Dennis Myer, of Greene, Maine; Marian H., wife of Kevin Auker, of Denver; Esther Mae, wife of Kenneth G. Martin, of Denver; Gerald H., husband of Sharon (Nissley) Kurtz, of Charleston, S.C.; Betty J, wife of Darrell Eberly, of New Holland; daughter-in-law: Sharon (Martin) Kurtz; five stepsons: Glenn, husband of Milred (Ebersole) Martin, of York; Eugene Martin and Kenneth Martin, both of Elizabethtown; Nelson, husband of Christine (Manning) Martin, of Westfield; Stanley, husband of Susan (Hess) Martin, of Elizabethtown; 29 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lydia, wife of the late Ivan Hoover, of Stevens; Alta, wife of Stanley Martin, of Ephrata; three brothers: Paul, husband of Anna Mary (Weaver) Hurst, of Ephrata; Frank, husband of Anna Mary (Good) Hurst, of East Earl; Ivan, husband of Mary (Martin) Hurst, of Ephrata.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Lester H. Kurtz; and four siblings: Emma Horning, Noah Hurst, Katie Horning, and Mary Martin.

Services were held June 25 at Indiantown Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with Pastors Dennis Myer and Ben Martin officiating. Interment took place in the Indiantown Mennonite Cemetery.

Lana L. Bowen, 74, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at Conestoga View.

She was born in Danielsville to the late Matthew Kaslik and Bernice Bryan, and was the wife of the late Robert M. Bowen III.

Lana was a cashier for the former Amelia’s Grocery Outlet. She was a majorette at Northampton High School, and enjoyed crafts, gardening and her pets.

Lana is survived by three sons: Michael R., husband of Catherine (Stevast) Bowen, of Ephrata; Bryan S., husband of Dora (Zook) Bowen, of Nottingham; Christopher L. Bowen of Lancaster; a daughter: Jill Anne Bowen of Lancaster; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two step-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 26 at the Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Akron.

Alvin W. Nolt, 81, of Lititz, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Menno and Lizzie (Weaver) Nolt.

Alvin was a farmer.

He is survived by three brothers: Henry, husband of Mary Nolt; Irwin, husband of Esther Nolt; and John Nolt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Menno Nolt; and two sisters: Alma Sensenig and Lizzie Mae Nolt.

Services were held June 28 at Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with Bishop Lester Martin officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.

Paul M. Martin, 77, of Stevens, entered into rest Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at his residence.

He was born in Earl Township to the late Edwin S. and Elizabeth W. (Martin) Martin, and was the husband of Susan B. (Zimmerman) Martin, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

A farmer, he was a member of Springville Mennonite Church, Ephrata.

Sharon ‘Sherry’ E. McConaghay, 61, Lititz Christian School Elementary principal, avid photographer

Sharon E. “Sherry” McConaghay, 61, of Stevens, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 24, 2016, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Aberdeen, Md., Sherry was the daughter of the late Ralph and Helene (McCaffery) Stafferi. She was the wife of James McConaghay, with whom she celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Sherry earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Millersville University, where she went on to earn her master’s degree. Sherry was a devoted elementary principal at Lititz Christian School where she loved all of her kids. She was a member of Grace Church, Lititz, for 37 years and enjoyed traveling, but more than anything, Sherry loved spending time with her family, shopping with her daughters, taking photos and playing with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Sherry is survived by her two daughters: Shannon Heydt, wife of Keith, of San Francisco, Calif.; and Allison McConaghay Shu, wife of Richard, of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren: Beckett and Paxton Heydt, and Brady Wiggins; two sisters: Barbara Ness, wife of Marty, of Lititz; Toni Autieri, wife of Richard, of Philadelphia; and two nephews: Craig Jones and Alex Autieri; and niece: Raphaella Autieri.

Funeral services for Sherry will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 2, at Grace Church, 501 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz. After the service, family will receive friends for a time of fellowship. Private interment will follow at Witness Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sherry’s memory may be made to Lititz Christian School, 501 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz, PA 17543.
