Patricia J. Clark, 71, Terre Hill Concrete retiree, EHS class of ‘60, Bethany UCC deacon

Patricia J. Clark, 71, Stevens, died May 5, 2014, in Hershey Medical Center.

Born in East Cocalico Township, a daughter of the late Dorothy M. (Buohl) Musser, she was married to William L. Clark for 52 years.

A 1960 Ephrata High School graduate, she also studied at Consolidated Business School, Lancaster. Patricia was a member and former deacon of Bethany United Church of Christ. She retired from Terre Hill Concrete. She cherished her family and was an avid hasenpfeffer player.

Also surviving are sons: William L. (Shawnee Mosser) Clark, Jr., Mohnton, and Brian (Stephanie Stover) Clark, Ephrata; a daughter: Melissa M. (Scott) Burch, Belchertown, Mass.; grandchildren: Crystal, Natalie, Corey, Austin, Taylor, Alexander and Mackenzie; great-grandchildren: Aidan, Jackson and Carter; sisters: Kay Croft, Janet Martin, Doris Kuhn and Donna Bowman; and a brother: Larry Musser.

A sister, Nancy Lesher, predeceased her.

Services were held May 9 from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with her pastor, The Rev. William J. LaSalle, officiating. Burial followed in Salem Union Cemetery, Reamstown.

Carl C. Kerschner, 78, Bethlehem Steel worker, Wickes retiree, enjoyed gardening, woodshop

Carl C. Kerschner, 78, of Ephrata, and formerly of Pine Grove, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy.

He was the husband of Gloria M. (Boyer) Kerschner and son of the late Raymond and Sallie (Aungst) Kerschner.

Carl was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Ephrata for 50 years. He worked for Bethlehem Steel at the former Grace Mine in Morgantown, and retired from the Wicks Lumber Truss Plant in Ephrata. Carl enjoyed flower gardening, working in his yard, and tinkering in his home wood shop. He also loved camping, sports, and his grand dogs.

Carl will be lovingly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Gloria, he is survived by two sons: Dennis Kerschner, husband of Georgia, of Akron, and Ronald Kerschner, husband of Carlene, of Reamstown; one grandson: David Kerschner of Reamstown; three brothers: Roy Kerschner, husband of Alda, of Pittsburgh, Dale Kerschner, husband of Mary, of Maytown, and Gene Kerschner of Williamsport; two sisters-in-law: Linda Weaver of Reamstown, and Hilda Boyer of Ephrata; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held May 12 at Bethany U.C.C., Ephrata, with Rev. William LaSalle officiating.

Lindsay Gayle Gorsuch, 33, EHS class of ‘99, active in the Lititz community, avid photographer

Lindsay Gayle Gorsuch, 33, of Lititz, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was born in Lancaster to David P. Martin and Barbara (Sheaffer), wife of W. Leonard Litzenberger and was the wife of John W. Gorsuch III with whom she shared 10 years of marriage.

Lindsay attended the Lititz United Methodist Church. She was a 1999 graduate of Ephrata High School and a 2002 graduate of The Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a major in criminal justice and a minor in child development. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and family and visiting the library with her children. She was actively involved in the Lititz Springs Swim Team, the Lititz Mom’s Club and the MOPS group at the LCBC Church. She also enjoyed photography and was an avid coupon clipper. Lindsay was a stay at home mom, worked part time at the Giant in Lititz. She had previously worked on the Therapeutic Support Staff for the Community Service Group of Lancaster.

In addition to her husband and parents; she is survived by her three children: Juliana, Mikayla and Gavin at home; maternal grandparents: Amos and Edna (Hall) Sheaffer of Lancaster; two brothers: Jason, husband of Sarah (Romig) Martin of Ephrata, Joshua, husband of Stephanie (Ligas) Anderson of Indiana, Pa.; a step brother: Brian, husband of Kim Litzenberger of Womelsdorf; two step sisters: Charlene, wife of Scott Schaeffer of Reinholds and Tammy Litzenberger of Adamstown.

Services will be held May 14 at 10 a.m. at Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St., Lititz, with Pastor Jerry McGrath and Pastor Jamie Mitchell officiating. Viewing one hour prior to service. Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.

John R. Hildebrand, 84, Air Force vet, supervisor at Tyson, active in Scouting, church

John R. Hildebrand, 84, of 16115 Smith Valley Road, Mapleton Depot, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his home.

Born August 16, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late Ray John and Catherine (Foster) Hildebrand. He was united in marriage on November 12, 1950 to Eleanor E. (Miller) Hildebrand, who resides at Westminster Woods in Huntingdon.

John graduated from Sandusky High School in 1947. He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 until 1952. He also studied at Bowling Green University. In 1994 he retired from Tyson Foods as a supervisor. John enjoyed reading and coin collecting, and had a genuine love for history and music. He enjoyed singing, playing instruments and listening to music. He was always very involved in church life and held leadership positions in various churches. He was a member of the NRA, and the American Legion, and held various positions in the Boy Scouts, including Scout Master up to and including Assistant District Commissioner. John thoroughly enjoyed his family.

Surviving are his children: James R. Hildebrand and wife Michelle of Lancaster, John W. Hildebrand and wife Bonnie of New Holland, Kathleen A. Rutter and husband Rusty of Ephrata, David B. Hildebrand and wife Jenice of Mapleton Depot, Mark A. Hildebrand of Marietta, Matthew S. Hildebrand and wife Paulette of Ephrata, Susan E. Hogue and husband Tony of Ephrata, and Steven W. Hildebrand and wife Tammy of Denver; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister: Ann Hildebrand of Sandusky, Ohio; and a step-sister: Lori Johnson and husband Ron of Huron, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by a brother: James Hildebrand.

Services were held May 10 at Calvary Bible Church, Lewistown, with Pastors Howard Houtz and Stephen Jeanes officiating. Burial was in Bowmans Chapel Cemetery in Smith Valley.

Arlin Duie Diener, 60, of Spring Township, West Lawn, Pa., passed away May 5, 2014.

Born in Ephrata, Arlin is predeceased by his parents Menno and Savilla I. (Taylor) Diener.

Arlin worked as an auto mechanic at John Croft Service Center and was an avid drag racing fan.

Arlin is survived by two sisters: Grace (Diener) Tyson, and Elaine (Diener) Taylor; and two brothers: Nevin Diener, and Claude Diener.

Ammon H. Martin, 84, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at his residence after a brief illness.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Ervin B. and Anna (Horst) Martin and was the husband of Anna N. (Newswanger) Martin with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.

Ammon was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons: Norman Martin of Fleetwood, Lewis, husband of Marie (Martin) Martin of Newville, Emory, husband of Dawn (Burkholder) Martin of Fleetwood, Earl, husband of Alice (Fox Eberly) Martin of Bowmansville, Ammon, husband of Lois (Hoover) Martin of Ephrata; three daughters: Etta Martin of Ephrata, Minerva Martin at home, Alma, wife of Leonard M. High of Newville; 23 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother: Adin H., husband of Martha (Hurst) Martin of Mt. Joy; three sisters: Elsie H., wife of Lester Brubaker of Ohio, Alta H., wife of the late Aaron Leid of Ohio, Nora H., wife of Elam Hoover of New Holland; a brother-in-law: Paul Snyder of New Holland; and a sister-in-law: Lucy Nolt of N.Y.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Elvin H. and Earl H. Martin; and a sister: Miriam Snyder.

Services were held May 13 at Martindale Mennonite Church, with officiating ministry Bishop Amos Martin and ministers Ivan Hurst, Paul Hurst Jr. and Walter Zimmerman. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Loren James McRae, 82, Reinholds, professor, was missionary in Thailand, Korea vet

Loren James McRae, 82, of Reinholds, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at his residence.

He was born in Detroit, Mich., to the late Telford and Beatrice McRae and was the husband of Donna A. (Altstaetter) McRae.

Loren was a member of the Ephrata Community Church and Harvest Net. He was a missionary in Thailand from 1959-1975, and enjoyed gardening and oil painting. He was a college professor at Detroit Community College and also Valley Forge Christian College, where he retired from in 1991. He then went on to be a counselor and teacher at Teen Challenge and was also a director of the Breath of Life Ministries. Loren served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, Loren is survived by two sons: John S., husband of Janet (Whittington) McRae of Mohnton, Billy G., husband of Stacy (Wampole) McRae of Reinholds; two daughters: Marilyn M., wife of Tom Wails of Wyomissing, Sharon W., wife of Frantz Santiago of Ephrata; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three siblings, Kathleen, wife of Chuck Chandler of Kent, Ohio, Jack, husband of Cecily McRae and Shirley Debord of Rock Hill, S.C.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Violet J. ‘Dolly’ Steffy, 82, Akron, Pennfield Farms worker, enjoyed spending time with family

Violet J. “Dolly” Steffy, 82, of Akron, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in Clay Township to the late Aaron and Anges (Gockley) Wanner and was the wife of Robert Steffy.

Violet enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and Himalayan cats. She was also a doll collector. During her working years, Violet worked at Pennfield Farms as a packer/handler.

In addition to her husband; she is survived by three sons: Walter Ream Jr., companion of Tina Vitale of Brickerville, Rick, husband of Sandra Steffy of Elm, Jeffrey Steffy of Lititz; a daughter: Diane, wife of Larry Anne of Rothsville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother: David Wanner; two sisters: Ella Mae Evangelista and Rose Smith.

A graveside service was held May 23 at Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Richard Cook officiating.

Deaths of Local Interest – May 28, 2014

Beth Ann Bradbury, 51, of Lancaster, passed away May 22, surrounded by her loving family. Beth’s greatest joy was that of being a loving wife and devoted mother to her three children. She had been a teacher at Farmdale Elementary School and Brownstown Elementary in years past. She attended St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Ruth Z. Brubaker, 90, of Myerstown, PA, passed away May 24 at her residence. She was She was born in Terre Hill and was a member of the Mt. Zion Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

Christine M. Hall, 51, of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly May 16. Chris was a 1981 graduate of Manheim Township High School and worked for various insurance companies. She also worked part time at Bright’s Restaurant in Ephrata, and volunteered for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Walter V. Lehman, 91, formerly of Mount Joy, passed away April 27. Walter was employed by the former Lancaster Leaf Tobacco of both Mount Joy and Lancaster. He was a member of the Florin Church of The Brethren and enjoyed meeting his friends at the Mount Joy Diner. His granddaughter, Stephanie Greiner-Sparks, lives in Ephrata.

Tina M. Ortman, 45, passed away May 21 at Hershey Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Tina was a 1987 graduate of Manheim Central High School. Her joys in life were her sons, her cats, and spending time at the beach. Her sons, Seth L. Meckley and Brandon A. Meckley, reside in Ephrata.

Martha L. Peachey, 94, formerly of Lancaster, died May 20 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Martha was a homemaker and a member of Ross Street United Methodist Church where she was a tireless volunteer. Her son, P. David Peachey, Jr., husband of Fay, lives in Ephrata.

Anna Z. Zimmerman, 87, of Myerstown, passed away May 20 in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference. Her son, Paul, husband of Arlene Martin Zimmerman, resides in Ephrata.

Brooke Lyn Beiler, 22, formerly of Stevens, was artist, music lover, Harley-Davidson worker

Brooke Lyn Beiler, 22, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Stevens, went home to be with her father and Jesus Christ May 18, 2014.

She was the loving daughter of Diane E. Lutz Beiler Reidenbach and Frank F. Miller, Akron, and the late Craig Allen Beiler.

A graduate of Oley Valley High School, Brooke had worked at Harley-Davidson, in Reading. Brooke was an artist, enjoyed music, and will be remembered as a sweet and bubbly woman who had a genuine kindness for everyone. She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #329 of Elizabethtown.

Surviving besides her parents are her paternal grandparents: Samuel (Betty) Beiler, Boyertown; four siblings: Jessica S. (Mark) Klepping, Elizabethtown, Christopher B. (Jessica) Reidenbach, Columbia, Nicholas D. Beiler, Austin, Texas, and Jennifer L. Beiler, Reading; nieces and nephews: Nicole, Nathan Viktoria, Dean, Nolan, and Randee.

Brooke Lyn’s memorial service was held May 27 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabethtown.

Richard G. Orbin, 86, Ephrata Manor resident, retired from Republic Steel, WWII veteran

Richard G. Orbin, 86, of 360 Warren St., New Holland, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Ephrata Manor.

His wife of 60 years, Joanne (Burdine) Orbin, survives.

Born in Warren, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Grant and Adele (McCall) Orbin.

During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Independence. Richard worked as a printer, retiring after 30 years with Republic Steel, Youngstown. He then worked for 17 years at Control Transformer, Cortland, Ohio. While employed at both companies, he also worked as a mechanic at the local gas station. He was a member of the Transfer Baptist Church, Transfer, and had also been a volunteer driver for Meals-on-Wheels.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Jaime married to John M. Gould, New Holland and Lisa married to John A. Boecker, Wellsville; four grandchildren; and a sister: Charis Cox, North Little Rock, AR.

Edna R. (Ruoss) Fox, 97, Adamstown, volunteered with Cocalico Sr. Center, active in church

Mrs. Edna R. (Ruoss) Fox, 97, of Adamstown, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Mifflin Center in Shillington.

Born in South Heidelberg Twp., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Sallie (Lorah) Ruoss.

Edna started working at the age of 14. She never learned to drive and walked to the Hope Hosiery Mill in Adamstown for the next 27 years. While working, she met Harold I. Fox. They were married on February 20, 1937. Mr. Fox passed away on April 28, 1978. Edna was an active member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Adamstown where she sang in the choir for many years.

She started attending and volunteering her time at the Cocalico Senior Center. For the past 24 years, five days a week, Edna could be found at the center involved in all kinds of activities. She scheduled the local ministers for Monday morning Bible Study. She served as Head of Hospitality and as Project Council Representative. Four times a year Edna visited other Senior Centers to report on happenings at Cocalico and to report back on what the other centers were doing.

Edna enjoyed playing Wii bowling, crocheting and knitting baby caps, prayer shawls, afghans, and she liked to read books. Edna truly loved to bake and enjoyed making goodies for family and friends.

Surviving are five children: Melvin S., husband of Sandra (Hoover) Fox of Shillington; Janet M., wife of Richard “Skip” Werner of Mohnton; Leroy K., husband of Linda (Hess) Fox of Ephrata; Irvin W., husband of Cynthia (Barthel) Fox of Birdsboro; and William H. Fox of Adamstown; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother: Samuel Ruoss of Myerstown; three sisters: Anna, widow of Clyde Althouse of Denver; Sara, wife of Wilbur Bentz of Wernersville; and Nancy, widow of Carl Noecker of Womelsdorf.

She was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 80 E. Main St., Adamstown, with Pastor Sandy Gideon officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.

Robert ‘Bob’ Sweigart, 23, Ephrata, active in Elco music program and Goodwill Fire Co.

Robert “Bob” Sweigart, 23, of Ephrata, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at his residence.

Born in Ephrata on October 1, 1990, he was the son of Reese E. Sweigart, of Ephrata, and Karen (Redcay) Sweigart, of Manheim.

Robert attended Elco High School where he was part of the drum line and active in school musicals as the stage crew manager. He became involved with the Goodwill Fire Co. in Myerstown at age 14 as a junior firefighter, most recently holding the rank of lieutenant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, lawn work and landscaping.

In addition to his parents, Robert is survived by a brother: Randall “Tastey” Sweigart, of Myerstown; girlfriend: Emilee Pfautz, of Schaefferstown; paternal grandparents: Warren and Linda Sweigart, of Ephrata; and maternal grandmother: Stella Redcay, of Ephrata.

Services were held May 23 at St. Paul’s UCC, Schaefferstown. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Anthony J. Delsandro, 86, formerly of Denver, civil engineer, retired Army colonel

Anthony J. Delsandro, 86, of Willow Valley Manor of Lancaster, formerly of Denver, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy.

He was born in Pittsburgh to the late John D’Allesandro of Bascilla, Italy and the late Rose Mendola from Calabrea, Italy. He was the husband of the late Bettylouise (Lloyd) Delsandro who passed away in 1994.

Anthony earned his bachelors degree in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for over 40 years as a construction engineer for numerous firms throughout the United States and Middle East. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and worked for both the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New York. Anthony retired as a colonel from the US Army 358th Civil Affairs, Norristown,. His service included Japan Far East, First Cavalry and Dept. of Engineering, Ft. Belvoir, Va. He enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and golfing. He also enjoyed the companionship and activities with the residents at Willow Valley.

He is survived by a daughter: Darlene A., wife of Howard D. “Dean” Bennett of Denver.

Alta W. (Zimmerman) Hoover, 83, born in Terre Hill, homemaker

Alta W. (Zimmerman) Hoover, 83, formerly of Culbertson Run Road, Coatesville, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Richland Christian Home, Richland.

Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late Levi W. and Ella (Wise) Zimmerman. She married Allen S. Hoover on June 14, 1952.

She was an excellent homemaker and loving mother to three sons and two daughters.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: Jerry A., married to Dorcas (Sharp) Hoover of Dover, Ohio, Jay P., married to Shirlene (Knepp) Hoover of Macon, Miss., and Richard L., married to Martha (Kreider) Hoover of Narvon; two daughters: Sharon, married to David L. Weaver of Coatesville, and Bonita, married to Lamar Weaver of Denver; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother: Levi Zimmerman of Rehrersburg; and a sister, Irene Weaver of Bowmansville.

Preceding her in death is a great grandson: Adrian Hindal; two brothers: Paul and Raymond Zimmerman; and four sisters: Anna Mae (Willis) Martin, Martha (Rufus) Sensenig, Ella (John) Martin, and Esther (Rufus) Musser.

Services were held May 27 at Blue Ball Mennonite Church, with Bishops Ray Weaver, Carl Sensenig, Joel Martin, and Elmer Zimmerman officiating. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.

Ammon K. Horst, 79, Ephrata, Brubacher Excavating truck driver, married 55 years

Ammon K. Horst, 79, of Ephrata, formerly of Terre Hill, died Monday, May 26, 2014 after a brief illness at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in West Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Harry H. and Fannie (Kauffman) Horst. He was married 55 years on November 1 to Louella M. (Weaver) Horst.

Ammon retired in 1999 as a truck driver for Brubacher Excavating and formerly worked for Terre Hill Silo Company.

He was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, singing with the Horsts, all games, puzzles, going to the mountains, yard work, and flowers.

Surviving in addition to his wife are six children: Clifford L. Horst of Ephrata, JoAnn H., married to Charles S. Risser of Lititz, Glenda M., married to Mervin Martin of Mohnton, Linda L., married to Rodney Greene of Lancaster, Darwin L., married to Bonita (Martin) Horst of Terre Hill, and Timothy D., married to Deborah (Lowe) Horst of Myerstown; 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Mervin W., married to Anna (Zimmerman) Horst of Richland, and Ivan K., married to Mabel (Martin) Horst of Ephrata; and three sisters: Alma, married to Ivan Martin of Millersburg, Norma, married to Harold Martin of Lititz, and Florence, married to Allen Nolt of New Holland; and a sister-in-law: Alice (Eberly) Horst of Ephrata.

Preceding him in death is a brother: Paul Horst.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata with the Reverends Dave Sensenig, Eugene Weaver, and Daryl Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on June 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.

Anna Mae Eckert, 82, worked in daycare, active Middle Creek COB member

Anna Mae Eckert, 82, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Earl E. Haldeman and Ella Mae Hollinger Haldeman. She lived the majority of her married life in Ephrata but recently moved to Brethren Village.

A homemaker, Anna was the loving wife of Harold W. Eckert. They were married 61 years this April. Earlier in her life Anna worked several part-time jobs and especially enjoyed working in a daycare caring for the babies. She was a member of the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren for over 60 years where for many years she sang in the choir and spent time in the nursery. Early in her church life Anna and Hoss served as youth group advisors. Anna’s interests included knitting, flower gardening, canning and freezing and cooking. She had a life-long passion for her family and enjoyed participating in many family activities.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son: Theodore “Ted” H. Eckert husband of Nina Almoney Eckert; and a daughter: Annette I. Swartz, wife of Samuel O. Swartz III; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four bonus great-grandchildren; and a sister: Miriam Haldeman Keith, wife of Mervin Keith.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, 351 Middle Creek Road, Lititz. An additional viewing will be held on Thursday, June 5, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the church, followed by her funeral service at 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Brubaker and Rev. Ivan Lutz officiating. Interment will take place in the Middle Creek Church Cemetery.

Shirley A. Shirk, 67, member of Word of Life Deaf Lutheran, did data entry for DOR

Shirley A. Shirk, 67, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, May 29, 2014 after a long battle with cancer, with her daughters by her side.

Her husband, the late Dale K. Shirk, passed away on July 17, 2009. Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Eva C. (Amoroso) Wright.

Shirley was a member of Word of Life Deaf Lutheran Church on Route 501 in Lancaster. Until her illness, she worked in data entry for the Department of Revenue.

She is survived by four daughters: Christina, wife of Josef Stambulski of Creal Springs, Ill., Sharon, wife of Joel Nicarry of Fredericksburg, Tammy, wife of Paul Klick of Palmyra, and Laurie, wife of Joseph Kramer of Myerstown; and 10 grandchildren. Shirley was the oldest of six children.

In addition to her husband and rents, Shirley was preceded in death by a son: Jay Oliver Harvill.

Services were held June 3 at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata, with the Rev. Russell Rockwell officiating. Interment followed in St. Paul’s U.M. Church Cemetery, Terre Hill.

Linda ‘Mimmi’ Unger, 69, Ephrata, loving mother

Linda “Mimmi” Unger, 69, of Ephrata made her final journey into the arms of her Lord and Savior May 30, 2014.

Born on March 1, 1945 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Steinbrecher.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 45 years: Richard. In addition, she was the loving mother to three daughters: Shylo, married to Robby Petrie, Shanna, and Ammie, married to Karl Stark. She was cherished “Mimmi to Gavin, Avery, Chase, Reilly and Carson.

She loved her family, friends and pretty lovelies; Mimmi will be missed by many.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Akron Church of the Brethren, 613 Main St., Akron, followed by a life celebration service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tom Weber officiating.

Cindy A. Summers, 53, Denver, Playskool, QVC, Hood Dairy worker, was lover of animals

Cindy A. Summers, 53, of Denver, formerly of Lancaster, entered into rest Friday, May 30, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of James R. and Anna Kuhns Summers of Lancaster.

Cindy worked earlier for Playskool; Hood Dairy in quality control; and lastly for QVC. An animal lover, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she will be lovingly missed by her sister, Darlene wife of Steve Allen, with whom she resided; her brother: James R. Jr., husband of Terry Summers, Lancaster; nieces: Christiana Stoltzfus, April (Sam) Justis; nephews: Shane Coleman, James Summers III and Gordon Summers; and her beloved dog: Bear. Her best friends to the end were: Millie Shafer, Deb Bowman and Terry Boyer.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
