Roxanne Martin, 63, Ephrata, Landis Homes nurse, was prayer warrior of strong faith

Roxanne Martin, 63, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019.

She and her husband, Leon R. Martin, would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in March. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Ruth (Sauder) Sauder.

Roxanne was a nurse and retired from Landis Homes in 2015. She was a loving person that never met a stranger. She had an innate ability to connect with people and serve them. She was an active member of Oasis Fellowship and known as a prayer warrior. She demonstrated Jesus to all that she came into contact with on a daily basis.

In addition to her husband, Roxanne is survived by four children: Gerald “Jerry,” married to Naomi (Hornberger) Martin; Jennifer, married to Shawn Ramsey; Jessica, married to Adam Ngotngamwong; Jamie Martin; and 15 grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings: Ray married to Tammy (Mummau) Sauder; Richard “Rick”, married to Sharon (Cassel) Sauder; Resie M., married to Leon Ray Martin.

Services were held Feb. 11 at New Life Fellowship, Ephrata, with Pastor Chris Leiby Officiating. Interment took place in the Lichty’s Mennonite Cemetery.

Mary E. Martin, 74, Denver, worked at Ultimate Apparel, enjoyed gardening, crafts

Mary E. Martin, 74, of Denver, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019.

She was the daughter of the late Ivan and Caroline (Schrantz) Stahl.

Mary worked in the trimming department at Ultimate Apparel in Denver for 15 years. She enjoyed gardening and crafts.

She is survived by her son:: John Martin Jr. of Denver; and longtime companion: Kenneth Firestone of Denver.

She was predeceased by two brothers.

Services are respectfully private with arrangements by Good Sipler Funeral Home & Crematory, Reamstown.

Leonard S. High, 72, Akron, Martin Limestone retiree, Weaverland member, outdoorsman

Leonard S. High, 72, of Akron, entered into Heaven following a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 at Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Myerstown, he was a son of the late John David and Laura B (Sauder) High. He was married 52 years on Oct. 1 to Lena M. (Reiff) High.

Leonard retired in 2011 after 38 years of employment with Martin Limestone. He was a quarry operator for 23 years and a mail courier the last 15 years. He was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church. He enjoyed hunting, sports, and spending time with his family at his cabin in Perry County.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children: Jim, married to Missy (Weidler) High of Lititz; Randy, married to Anne (Gehman) High of Raleigh, N.C.; Sherry, married to Jason Moyer of Ephrata; Daryl High of Ephrata; and Cheryl, married to Travis Brubaker of Denver; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six siblings: Miriam, married to Christ Burkholder of York; Galen, married to Cindy High of Myerstown; John D., married to Dianne High of Myerstown; Edwin, married to Lois High of St. Joseph, Mo.; Joyce, married to Walter Kolb of Frystown; and Rhoda, married to Ken Reist of Lebanon.

Funeral services were held Feb. 11 at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community, East Earl. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

Louella (Beiler) Mosteller, 85, Ephrata, very passionate about her God, her family, and baseball

Louella (Beiler) Mosteller, 85, of Ephrata, passed away on Feb. 4, 2019.

She was born on July 25, 1933 in Morgantown to the late David S. and Mary (Mast) Beiler.

She was very passionate about her God, her family and baseball.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years: Joseph A. Mosteller; daughter: Rosella Mosteller of Kalispell, Mont.; daughter: Alfreda Dierolf (Dave) of Adamstown; son: Daniel Mosteller of Cressona. She enjoyed her four grandchildren: Drew Aungst (Jesse), Danae, Derek and Dillan Mosteller. She is also survived by her sisters Gladys Shearer (Robert deceased) of Lititz; Elaine Stoltzfus (Ken) of Kidron, Ohio; her brother: Paul Beiler (Leanna) of Bergton, Va.; and sister: Mary Ann Leaman (Glenn) of Narvon.

She was preceded in death by her brother: Raymond Beiler.

A celebration of life will be held on Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at Weaver’s Banquet Hall in Adamstown. All family and friends are welcome.

Larry Russel Millard, 74, Spring Service mechanic, NASCAR fan, enjoyed model trains, gardening

Larry Russel Millard, 74, of Ephrata, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Birdsboro to the late Catherine (Kachel) Millard, and was the companion of Carol Ann Sanders.

Larry was a mechanic for Spring Service in Reading. He was of Christian faith. He enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR and Danika Patrick. He also enjoyed collecting model trains, fishing and gardening.

Larry is survived by three sons: Mitchell Millard of Wyomissing, Darryl Millard of Reading, Larry Millard of Leesport; three grandchildren; extended family: Sheree, wife of Dan Wolf of Akron; Keith Heil of Manheim; Tim, husband of Valerie (Good) Heil of Ephrata; Todd, husband of Beth (Pentz) Heil of Akron; Julie, wife of Scott Adams of Lititz; 10 grandchildren.

Larry was predeceased by a brother: Lester Millard; and a sister: June Kroplesky.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Alfred M. Korenkiewicz, 72, finance worker, OMPH member, devoted to loved ones, Eagles fan

Alfred Michael Korenkiewicz, 72, of Ephrata, known by family and friends as Al, crossed over to heaven, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.

He was born in Chester to the late Joseph and Stella (Dzerbinski) Korenkiewicz, and was the husband of Mary L. Korenkiewicz, with whom he would have celebrated 45 years of marriage with on Feb. 23.

Al was well known for his devotion to his loved ones, silly humor, friendly demeanor, as well as being an avid Eagles fan. He was a graduate of St Joseph’s University and provided for his family with a successful career in finance. He was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata.

In addition to his wife: Mary; he is survived by his daughters: Jessica, Allison, and Christina; his grandchildren: Elliot and Sophia; son-in-law: Greg; sisters-in-law: Margie and Eva; and by his lifelong best friend: Wes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Edwin and Albin.

Services were held Feb. 9 at the Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with The Rev. Fr. John J. McLoughlin C.SS.R as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will be private at the convenience of the family.

Mary Kathryn Hensel, 80, Ephrata, Wagaman Bros., H&E Litho Co. worker, OMPH volunteer

Mary Kathryn Hensel, 80, of Ephrata, formerly of Lebanon and Bird-in-Hand, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in Lancaster in 1938 to the late Clarence J. and Margaret E. (Sullivan) Bitzer, and was the wife of the late Jetwood W. Hensel, who passed away in 2005.

She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy of Lancaster, class of 1956. She formerly worked for Wagaman Bros. Printing Co., Lititz, and retired from H & E Litho Co., Brickerville. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Cecelia’s Church, Lebanon, and Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata.

Mary is survived by a son: Michael L., husband of Regine Faith Hensel of Lebanon; two daughters: Kelly M., wife of Dennis Nolt; Tonya K., wife of Bryan Stoner, both of Ephrata; two sisters, Nancy L. Groff, wife of Kenneth Sweigart of Lititz, Linda, wife of Rodney Mellott of FL; a brother, John S., husband of Nancy Bitzer of Lancaster; a brother-in-law, William Hensel of Ephrata; six grandsons: Matthew M. Hensel of Lebanon; Zachary Stoner of New York; Dr. Andrew Nolt, husband of Ana (Salguero) Nolt of Florida; Eric, husband of Lauren Nolt of Lancaster; Maximilian, husband of Kelsi (Lautenslager) Faith of Boise, Idaho; Travis Stoner of Reinholds; a granddaughter: Megan L., wife of Josh Worley of Mifflinburg; two great-grandsons: Nolan and Cyrus Nolt; and two great-granddaughters: Olivia and Zoey Nolt.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley Plank, Margaret Koser; a brother: Donald J. Bitzer; and a sister-in-law: Shirley Hensel.

Services were held Feb. 11 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata, with the Rev. Fr. John J. McLoughlin, C.SS.R as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell were in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Megan N. Birney, 30, EHS grad, enjoyed eating ice cream, spending time with family

Megan N. Birney, 30, of Ephrata, went home to be with her mother and the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was born in Ephrata to Kenneth G. and the late Martha A. (Kilhefner) Birney.

Megan was a graduate of Ephrata High School IU-13, class of 2009. She had a pleasant and happy personality that could turn anyone’s day around. She enjoyed being held, rocked, read to, eating ice cream, watching Nickelodeon, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her father, Megan is survived by two brothers: Michael Birney of Ephrata, Mathew E. Birney of Conshohocken; a sister: Michelle L. Dean of New Danville, with children Sadie and Dawson Dean; a grandfather: Ray Kilhefner of Ephrata; two grandmothers: Olene Beiler of Ephrata; Della Mae Birney of Elkton, Md.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Claude E. Adair, 75, Cocalico grad, bus driver, Weaver Industries retiree, coach, avid golfer

Claude E. Adair, 75, of Stevens, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019.

He was the loving husband of 56 years to Bertha G. (Weinhold) Adair, and a son of the late Harry G. and Dorothy (Binkley) Adair.

Claude was a 1961 graduate of Cocalico High School, and for 47 years he worked at Weaver Industries, Inc. in Denver. He was an active member of the Jaycees and coached youth baseball in Reamstown. After retiring, he drove school bus for Brightbill Transport in the Cocalico School District. He enjoyed summers at the bay at Elkview Shores, Md. He was an avid golfer with membership at The Host and Hawk Valley and he loved to teach the game.

In addition to his wife, Claude is survived by four children: Tammy Franck (Michael) of Ephrata, Tina Smith (the late John M.) of Ephrata, Todd Adair (Deb) of Reamstown, and Troy Adair (Diane) of Ephrata; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Brittany (Dennis) Hartlove, Benjamin and Lucas; Timothy Adair; Brandon Smith; Tiffany (Ethan) Pfautz; Kelsey (Jonathan) Hogan, Elijah Noah; Bethany (C.J.) Price; Kyle Smith; and Juliet; Jeremy (Aarin) Franck; and Alex Smith; four siblings: Pat Kofroth, Beverly Auker, Betty Jane Burd, and Kerry Adair.

In addition to his son-in-law, Claude was predeceased by three brothers: Harry, Richard, and Barry Adair.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Feb 14 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, 34-38 N. Reamstown Road, Reamstown, where the service will begin at 10 a.m.

Elizabeth Mary Eberly, 91, of Ephrata, and formerly of Lebanon County, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy.

Elizabeth was born in Annville, daughter of the late Benjamin and Kathryn (Reigert) Firestine. She was the loving wife of Warren P. Eberly for 72 years.

She is also survived by two children: Sally Eberly-Bowman (Glenn) of Ephrata, and Scott Eberly (Pamela) of New Mexico; two grandchildren: Molly Boody and Megan Foster; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A resident of Ephrata for over 60 years, Elizabeth had been an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Eicher Arts Center, the Ephrata Cloister Associates, and a charter member of the Women’s Club of Ephrata. Elizabeth also served with Meals on Wheels for 13 years.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata.

Rick L. Shober, 66, CHS grad, supervisor for American Maplan, softball player, Philly sports fan

Rick L. Shober, 66, died Feb. 7, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

He was born March 11, 1952, in Ephrata to Clifford Lee and Jean Marion (Dunkelberger) Shober. On Aug. 29, 1987, he married Brenda Kay Reiser in Groveland, Kansas. They shared 31 years of marriage.

Rick graduated from Cocalico High School in Denver. He was a supervisor for American Maplan Corporation in McPherson with 20 years of service. Most recently, he worked at Midwest Electric (formerly Gibson Industrial Controls). Rick was an avid softball player and coached McPherson Lady Express. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching sports (especially the Philadelphia Flyers & Eagles) and listening to a wide variety of music, especially from the 70s and 80s. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and friend. Rick was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to his family and friends.

Rick is survived by his wife: Brenda of McPherson, Kansas; daughters: Randi Shober (Dave) of Reinholds; Kasey Connor of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; granddaughters: Emerald Shober (Mark), Reagan Zerbe; great-grandson: Axel Wolf; mother: Jean Shober; sisters: Lynne Bupp (Terry), Valerie Morris, Pamela Kerns (Mel), Marg Reider (Robert), Teena Haake (Keenan); sister-in-law: Jan Shober; brother: Terry Shober; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends in both Kansas and Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his father: Clifford; stepfather: Laurel ‘Rusty’ Rusk; brother: Rodney Shober; and brother-in-law: Steve Morris.

A celebration of life was held Feb. 16 at McPherson Free Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Gordon L. Thompson, 59, Army vet, Eagle Scout, Berk-Tek worker, OMPH member, Cowboys fan

Gordon L. “Butch” Thompson, 59, passed away unexpectedly late Friday night, Feb. 15, 2019 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Butch was the loving husband of 40 years to Donna (Kauffman) Thompson. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Gordon J. and Shirley A. (Hupert) Thompson.

Butch was a 1977 graduate of Cocalico High School and achieved the Boy Scout rank of Eagle Scout. He was a veteran, serving in the Army from 1977 to 1992 and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Western New England University in Springfield, Mass.

Butch worked as a quality assurance technician for Berk-Tek in New Holland, and was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame football fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and his dog.

In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by two children: Christina L. (Nicholas) Musser of Palmyra; and Patrick R. (Katie) Thompson of Napa Calif.; three grandchildren: Lillian Musser, Willow Musser, Natalie Scott; and a sister: Cindy A. Thompson of Ephrata.

Butch was predeceased by his infant son: Scott Thompson.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 11:30 a.m. in Weaver’s Banquet Facility, 2610 N. Reading Road, Denver. The service will be followed by light refreshments. Final resting place is Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Ephrata. The interment is private.

Paul G. Martin, 95, dairy farmer, father of 10, New Haven Mennonite Church member

Paul G. Martin, 95, of Denver, formerly of Crest Road, Lititz, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family on Friday afternoon, Feb. 15, 2019 at the Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy following a brief illness.

Born in Ephrata Township, he was the son of the late Samuel K. and Daisy Getz Martin. He was the husband of Anna S. Horning Martin for 60 years before her passing in 2006.

A dairy farmer, Paul was a member of New Haven Mennonite Church in Lititz.

He is survived by nine children: Leroy, husband of Deborah Gunselman Martin, of Sarasota, Fla.; Wilmer, husband of Arlene Kreider Martin, of Elizabethtown; Raymond Martin of Leola; Clarence, husband of Thelma Good Martin, of Lititz; Louis, husband of Lois Ann LeFever Martin, of Middletown; Lois, wife of Mahlon Martin, of Denver, with whom he resided; Eleanor, wife of Irvin Martin, of Guatemala; Martha, wife of Jesse Weaver, of Myerstown; Anna, wife of LeRoy Martin, of Ephrata; 31 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; three siblings: Emma High of Ephrata; Ella, wife of Adam Oberholtzer, of Blue Ball; and Elizabeth, wife of Luke Snader, of Reinholds; and a sister-in-law: Janice (wife of the late Eli Martin) Martin of Lititz.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Martin; a grandson: Linford Weaver; and siblings: Wayne, Eli, and Ivan Martin, infant sister Annie Martin, Mary Gerhart, and Edna Hoover.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice and Community Care for their kind and compassionate care.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday morning, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. at New Haven Mennonite Church, 230 Crest Road, Lititz, with Amos Hurst, Barry Zeiset, Jeremy Martin, and LeRoy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.

Betty J. Marxen, 93, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at Wyomissing Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born in Brownstown to the late Marvin and Ruth (Herr) Marxen.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s EC Church, Rothsville, where she taught Sunday School, was a junior church leader and primary department superintendent.

Betty formerly worked for Ephrata Apparel and Loungewear Manufacturing Company. She was a graduate of Rothsville High School. She enjoyed reading and word searches.

Betty is survived by a sister: Doris A. Weise of Ephrata; a niece: Theresa “Terry” Marxen of Ephrata; and 11 other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Lois L. Patterson, Pauline H. Marxen, and Ruth Marie Weidman.

Services were held Feb. 17 at Stradling Funeral Home, Akron, with Reverend Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment took place in the Brownstown Cemetery.

Clyde E. Goshert, 79, Horst Group mason, enjoyed time with grandkids, visiting cabin

Clyde E. Goshert, 79, of Denver, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Stevens to the late John H. and Minnie (Getz) Goshert, and was the husband of Floy A. (Firestone) Goshert, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Clyde enjoyed spending time at his camp in Sullivan County, watching football, baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren. Prior to his retirement, he was a mason for the Horst Group in Lancaster.

In addition to his wife, Clyde is survived by three stepchildren: Connie A., wife of the late John Firestone; Sidney L., husband of Susan (Paul) Walmer; and Donald E. Walmer; three grandchildren: Melisa (Mark) Mertz, Kyle Walmer, Kendra Walmer; and a great-granddaughter: Megan Mertz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings.

There will be no viewing. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery Annex.

Reba Mae Snyder Sensenig, 79, of Ephrata, and formerly of Lititz and Manheim, died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in Clay Township, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Naomi Burkholder Boll. Reba was the wife of the late John K. Sensenig, who died in October of 2005. Her first husband was the late David Clayton Snyder, who died in September of 1989.

She was a member of the White Oak Mennonite Church, Manheim.

Surviving are two sons: Stephen, husband of Norma Jean Herr Snyder of Ephrata; Dwain, husband of Sara Lee Martin Snyder of Myerstown; a daughter: Dayna, wife of Stephen Campbell of Arcadia, Fla.; a son-in-law: Kenneth Martin of Hopewell; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are 10 stepchildren: Mary L., wife of Marlin Zimmerman of Lancaster; Velma E., wife of Boyd Campbell of Arcadia, Fla.; Glenn M., husband of Janet Meck Sensenig of Elkton, Md.; John R., husband of Jean Landis Sensenig of Watsontown; Harold W., husband of Janet Martin Sensenig of Smyrna, Del.; David L., husband of Miriam Neuenschwander Sensenig of Lititz; James M., husband of Esther Burkholder Sensenig of Arcola, Ill.; Carolyn J., wife of Clair Hursh of Martinsburg; Cheryl F., wife of Joel Martin, of Greencastle; Karen J., wife of Philip Ebersole of Honduras, Central America; 76 step-grandchildren; and 213 step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers: Warren B. Boll of Ephrata; Paul Henry, husband of Carol Ann Kauffman Boll of Palmyra; John Elwood, husband of Anna Lois Good Boll of Bolivar, N.Y.; Mark B., husband of Roseanna Eberly Boll of Manheim; Ray Edward Boll of Ephrata; two sisters: Verna Marie Boll, wife of Samuel B. Brubaker of Manheim; Martha B. Boll, wife of Jay Marlin Nissley of Lewisburg.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Starla Martin; a step-grandson; three step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Margaret B. Felpel Boll, Gloria Jean Redcay Boll.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the White Oak Mennonite Church, 2456 Newport Road, Manheim, on Friday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in White Oak Mennonite Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., and again from 6 to 8 p.m. Please omit flowers.

Carol A. Wenzel, 71, worked at Swatch Watch, animal lover, crafter, enjoyed time with family

Carol A. Wenzel, 71, of Stevens, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Carol was born in Ephrata, daughter of the late Arthur and Kathryn (Mohn) Bachman.

She worked at Swatch Watch in Lancaster for over 20 years. Carol loved animals, doing crafts, and spending time with her family. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends.

Carol is survived by her husband: Donald R. Wenzel; two sons: Shannon Brown (Brenda), and Shawn Brown (Shannon); two granddaughters: Molly and Maddy Brown; and a brother: M. Brian Bachman (Rosanne).

A gathering in Carol’s honor will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Durlach-Mt. Airy Fire Company, 880 Durlach Road, Stevens.

Edward Z. Martin, 70, of Ephrata, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Fairmount Homes.

He was born in East Cocalico Township to the late Paul B. and Emma H. (Zimmerman) Martin.

Edward was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. He was an assembler for Ray Tech Manufacturing.

Edward is survived by five brothers: Noah Z., husband of Ida (Nolt) Martin of Ephrata; Jesse Z. Martin of Withee, Wisc.; Reuben Z., husband of Esther (Hoover) Martin of El Dorado, Mo.; John Dan Martin of Ephrata; Eli Z., husband of Ada (Wenger) Martin of Dundee, N.Y.; two sisters: Laura Z. Martin and Emma Z. Martin, both of Ephrata; a sister-in-law: Edna (Newswenger) Martin of Shippensburg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: J. Paul Martin; a sister: Mary Martin; an infant sister: Esther Martin; and a sister-in-law: Laura (Martin) Martin.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nevin Martin residence, 991 Fivepointville Road, Stevens. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 9 a.m. at the Nevin Martin residence, with further services at 9:30 a.m. from the Martindale Old Order Mennonite Church, 905 Martindale Road, Martindale, with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Donald R. Leed, 86, Korean War vet, stonemason, fan of NASCAR, enjoyed deep sea fishing

Donald R. Leed, 86, of Stevens, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Fivepointville to the late George M. and Gertrude (Stauffer) Leed, and was the husband of Ethel S. (Stuber) Leed, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Don was a member of Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. During his working years, Don was a self-employed stonemason. He was a member of the Griswold & Cast Iron Cookware Assoc., Muddy Creek Hunting Club, and Reinholds VFW Post 6759. Don enjoyed antiquing, hunting, deep sea fishing, snowmobiling, Indy and NASCAR racing.

In addition to this wife, he is survived by two daughters: Deborah A Leed, wife of Gregory Osborne of Lititz; Sue Leed Ream of Lititz; three grandchildren: Matthew P. Ream, D. Casey Osborne, and Emily Leed Osborne.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl H. and Dean S. Leed.

A visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 21 from 10 to 11 a.m., at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery Annex.

Etta B. Brubaker Holsinger, 88, Doneckers seamstress, active at church; Lioness, hospital volunteer

Etta B. Brubaker Holsinger, 88, of Ephrata, and formerly of Brunnerville and Schoeneck, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 at Ephrata Manor.

Etta was born in West Cocalico Township on April 22, 1930, daughter of the late Albert S. and Ada E. (Bollinger) Walters.

She was a lifelong member of Mellingers Lutheran Church in Schoeneck, where she had been a member of the choir and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school.

Etta worked as a seamstress for a number of local sewing factories and the clothing store at the former Doneckers of Ephrata. After her retirement in 1992, Etta was still always glad to provide at-home clothing alterations to friends and family. She was also a former member of the Baron Stiegel Lioness Club and hospital volunteer at UPMC Pinnacle Lititz.

Etta is survived by her husband: Jacob E. Holsinger; daughter: Anita K., wife of Arsenio Soto of Ephrata; three sons: Randall D. Brubaker, husband of Martha, of Ephrata; Sheldon M. Brubaker, husband of Sheila, of Ephrata; and Scott V. Brubaker, husband of Jennifer, of Lititz; five grandchildren: Kendra, Kristi; Alicia, Vincent, and Abigail; six great-grandchildren: Cole, Sydney, Hayden, Piper, Caleb, and John; two stepsons: Lowell Holsinger, husband of Linda, of Lititz; and Robert Holsinger of Florida; four step-grandchildren: David, Ann, Stephanie, and Dale; three step-great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Kathryn, and Erin; and one brother: William Walters, husband of Edith, of Denver.

In addition to her parents, Etta was preceded in death by her first husband: Vincent C. Brubaker; a son: Robin C. Brubaker; six sisters: Elva, Ruth, Vera, Cora, Anna, and Myra; and one brother: Abner.

Services were held Feb. 19 at Mellingers Lutheran Church, Stevens (Schoeneck), with Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. Place of interment was Mellinger’s Union Cemetery.
