Jacob David Fry, 93, Ephrata H.S. grad, WWII vet, heavy equipment industry worker

Jacob David Fry, 93, of Union Grove, Wisc., formerly of Brookfield, Wisc., and Frysville, died Feb. 25, 2018 at Burlington Memorial Hospital.

Born on Aug. 11, 1924, he was the son of the late Miles W. and Babette (Ruppin) Fry, of Frysville, near Ephrata.

He grew up on the family farm in Frysville. In 1941, he graduated from Ephrata High School, and entered Cornell University, Ithaca N.Y. Jacob served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in General Patton’s 3rd Army, leading an engineering and operations unit across occupied northern France; and later served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He earned a bachelor’s of science in agricultural engineering (1948) and Masters of Business Administration (1949), both from Cornell University.

On June 21, 1952, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Schaff Fry (M.A., Temple Univ.) Jacob worked in sales and marketing in the heavy equipment industry his entire career, starting with Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria, Ill., and Europe. He retired in 1988 from Harnischfeger (Joy Global/Komatsu) in Milwaukee, Wis., and continued working in heavy equipment as a consultant for Ormson Corporation, and as an independent contractor until 2004.

He was predeceased by his wife: Betty (1928-2002); and his sister: Ann Fish.

Surviving are a sister: Charlotte Poor (Peoria, Ill.); brother Morton (Beckie) Fry (Ephrata); daughters, M. Susanna Fry (Kenosha, Wisc.) and Sarah “Sally” Fry (Greg) Bruch (Brookfield, Wisc.); son Samuel J. Fry (Waukesha, Wisc.); five grandchildren, Michael J. Thompson (Las Vegas, Nevada), Christina A. Thompson (Jeff Olson) (Chicago, Ill.), Ruthanne A. Bruch (Tim) Busch (Dallas, Texas), George W. Bruch (Sheboygan, Wisc.), David J. Bruch (Sheboygan, Wisc.); and, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Clement J. Zablocki V.A. Medical Center in Milwaukee for the fine care he received over the years in his retirement; to the V.A. Nursing Home in Union Grove, Wisc., for their wonderful nursing care; and to the Burlington Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during his final illness.

Elma F. Eshleman, 90, Zion Lutheran member, enjoyed reading, spending time with family

Elma F. Eshleman, 90, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was born in Clay Township to the late Lester and Helen (Brunner) Keller, and was the wife of the late Sylvan G. Eshleman, who passed away in 2007.

Elma was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing and playing games. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Akron.

Elma is survived by a son: Brian G., husband of Debra (Showers) Eshleman of Lititz; two daughters: Bonita F., wife of Paul F. Hutchinson of Ephrata; Barbara G., wife of Timothy Konrad of Lititz; two sisters: Verna, wife of the late Warren Strauss; and Nelda, wife of the late Edwin Rouillard, both of Florida; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 12 at Zion Lutheran Church, Akron, with Pastor Matthew Lenahan officiating. Interment was in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville.

Harold P. Gibble, 87, Korean War vet, auto body repairman, Boy Scout leader

Harold P. Gibble, 87, of Denver, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at home.

He was born in Jackson Township, Lebanon County, to the late Paul C. and Sallie M. (Dubble) Gibble, and was the husband of Bette J. (Grabill) Gibble, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.

Harold was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a retired auto body repairman, and had been a Boy Scout troop leader in Bowmansville for many years.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by five children: Richard, husband of Lisa Bachman of Akron; Bonnie, wife of Ken James of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; Robin, wife of Lewis Galebach of Loretto; Scott, husband of Diane Bachman of Leola; and Lee J., husband of Dawn L. Bachman of Denver; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date, at Vision of Hope in Mountville.

Deaths of Local Interest – March 21, 2018

J. Harold Hollinger, 84, of Mount Joy, formerly of Elizabethtown, died March 18 at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. Harold was a charter member and very active at Elizabethtown Grace Brethren Church. He retired from B&G Lumber in Elizabethtown where he was widely known and a friendly presence behind the counter. He had served on the West Donegal Township planning commission. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, singing, Bible study, playing games, and spending times with family and friends. His son, Brian K., husband of Carol A. Showalter Hollinger, and their children, Courtney and Tyler, live in Denver.

Frances E. Kurl, 87, of Lititz, died peacefully March 19 at the Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim. A homemaker, she was the loving wife of the late George L. Kurl who died in 1993. Her grandson, Andrew L., husband of Angie Kurl, lives in Ephrata.

Colin Garner, 64, Ephrata native, metal worker, Gardens at Stevens resident

Colin Garner, 64, of Leola, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Gardens at Stevens Nursing Home.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Junior M. and Evelyn M. (Hoover) Garner.

Colin was a metal worker.

He is survived by four siblings: Gregory, husband of Diane (Cassel) Garner of Hopeland; Franklin, wife of Nadine (O’Connor) Hoover of Coral Springs, Fla.; Diane, wife of David Grove of Stevens; and Karin, wife of Benjamin Sweigart of Denver.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Brian Garner; and a sister: Marie Garner.

Interment took place in the Voganville Union Cemetery.

Harold D. Stengel, 63, maintenance supervisor, was kind and caring, country music fan

Harold D. Stengel, 63, of Stevens, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018, at home.

He was born in Altoona to Harold D. and the late Gladys (Miner) Stengel, and was the husband of Stella Mae (Redcay) Stengel.

He was a member of Reinholds United Zion Church. Harold was a maintenance supervisor for an apartment complex. He enjoyed country music, dancing and wood burning. He was a kind and caring man, with a good sense of humor, who loved to have fun.

In addition to his wife and father, Harold is survived by three children: Stephanie Stengel; Jeff, husband of Brenda (Rieser) Hummer; Tamara, wife of Patrick Dunlap; five stepchildren: Ray Redcay; Karen Sweigart; Clair, husband of Karrie (Lee) Redcay; Mervin, husband of Christine (Wentzel) Redcay; Laverne, husband of Betty (Walter) Redcay; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a sister: Janet Oswald.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son: Nathan Stengel; and a brother: Robert Stengel.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Friday, March 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Reinholds United Zion Church, 305 West Route 897, Reinholds, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Leisey officiating. Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.

Janet E. (Braine) Horning, 73, Case NH purchaser, esthetician, LGH volunteer, and animal lover

Janet E. (Braine) Horning, 73, of Ephrata died Thursday evening, March 8, 2018, at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.

Born Jan. 27, 1945 in Grove City, Janet was the daughter of the late Paul and Stella (Parfinski) Braine.

Janet graduated from Garden Spot High School and attended Goldey­Beacom College. She worked as a purchasing agent for Sperry New Holland, New Holland Ford and Case New Holland, retiring after 24 years of service. Upon her retirement, she began a second career caring for clients in the Lancaster area as an esthetician.

Janet was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s UCC in New Holland, and had most recently attended Hope United Methodist Church in Ephrata. Janet was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years. She gave back to her community in a variety of ways, most recently as a volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital.

She leaves her two sons: Gregory S. Horning and his wife, Angela, of Reisterstown, Md.; and Steven M. Horning and his wife, Jennifer, of Jacobus; five grandsons: Mitchell, Sean, Clayton, Isaac and Jacob Horning; and a brother: Richard Braine of New Holland.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Braine Jr.

Janet valued time spent with her family and friends. She had a huge heart for people and animals alike. She will be fondly remembered by all who loved her for her bright smile, loving-kindness, and endearing sense of humor.

A service to celebrate her life will held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at St. Stephen Reformed Church, 249 E. Main St., New Holland, with Rev. Timothy Witmer officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Marlin I. Kreider, 94, Sperry NH metallurgy engineer, avid volunteer, liked square dancing

Marlin I. Kreider, 94, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Luther Acres, Lititz.

Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Peter and Elsie Kreider. He was the loving husband of the late Jean Kreider, who died in January 2016. They were married 71 years.

Marlin is survived by three children: Janis, wife of Martin Swartz, of Lititz; Barry, husband of Gloria, of Ephrata; Sherry, wife of Brian Gilchrest of Lancaster, Ky.; seven grandchildren: John and Jeffrey Swartz; Tania Kreider; Andrew, Eric and Adam Gilchrest; and Emily (Gilchrest) Jones; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Patricia; and two brothers: Paul and Melvin.

Marlin retired from the metals lab at Sperry New Holland. He had become a licensed professional engineer in metallurgy, an achievement he earned taking correspondence courses through Penn State. He was always eager to learn and achieve and was well respected by his peers.

Marlin was a long time member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Ephrata where he was active in Sunday School, ushering, and church council. He volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels, with Lutheran Social Services as a tax preparer, and as a member of the Ephrata Lions Club. One of Marlin and Jean’s favorite pastimes was square dancing.

Once he retired, Marlin and his wife remained very active developing a farmette on their property. They raised many vegetables, cared for numerous fruit trees, and enjoyed sharing their produce with family and friends. As a man of faith, Marlin generously shared his love and humor.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Karen Minnich-Sadler will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 167 E. Main St., Ephrata, on Thursday, March 22, at 11 a.m. Marlin’s family will receive friends before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Place of interment will be Lincoln Cemetery, Apple St. in Ephrata, after which the family invites you to join them for lunch at Holy Trinity.

Eugene D. ‘Gene’ Smith, 57, vet, scuba diver, owned Perfect Dream Sleep Shop, iDeal Furniture

Eugene D. “Gene” Smith, 57, of Stevens, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was born in New Brunswick, N.J. to the late Joseph Phillip and Marie Daisy (Disbrow) Smith, and was the husband of Sally (Hart) Smith, with whom he just celebrated 33 years of marriage on March 9.

Gene loved scuba diving and traveled all over the world doing so. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, kicking back in the hot tub with a beverage in his hand, and spending time with his family and friends. Gene will be remembered for his caring nature and his fun loving personality.

Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He and his wife owned Perfect Dreamer Sleep Shop and iDeal Furniture in Akron.

In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by a daughter: Ashley, wife of Tyler Griffith of Reinholds; three siblings: Joseph Smith of Ephrata; Daniel Smith of Ephrata; and Viola, wife of Tom Zborowski of Long Valley. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Rose, wife of Ron Bakitas of Reinholds.

Services were held March 19 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Vince Verdegum officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Martha K. Hurst, 90, MV Mennonite member, had 103great-grandchildren, married 70 years

Martha K. Hurst, 90, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Fairmount Homes.

She was born in East Earl to the late Isaac G. and Katie (Kurtz) Sensenig, and was the wife of Amos W. Hurst Sr., with whom she shared 70 years of marriage.

Martha was a homemaker and a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

In addition to her husband, Martha is survived by four sons: Leonard (Laura Martin) Hurst of Lititz, Isaac (Carolyn Eberly) Hurst of Akron, Amos Jr. (Carolyn Seibel) Hurst of Lititz, Kenneth (Dolores Rutt) Hurst of Ephrata; four daughters: Velma Nolt (Nelson) of Drumore, Doris Weaver (Curtis) of Ephrata, Jane Weaver of Beavertown, Nancy Hurst of Ephrata; a brother-in-law: Jonas Nolt of Newville; 34 grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Jay Melvin Weaver; two grandchildren: Kendra Hurst and Joshua Weaver; five brothers: Lloyd, Allen, Rufus, Isaac, and John Sensenig; and three sisters: Vera (Mahlon) Martin, Katie (Jacob) Reiff, Alta Nolt. She was the last of her immediate family.

Services were held March 16 at Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with Bishop Lester B. Martin and Ministers Elam Ray Martin, Gary Zimmerman and Jay Martin officiating. Interment followed in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.

Edna G. Weaver, 87, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Lincoln Christian Home.

Born in Myerstown, she was the daughter of the late Jesse B. and Mary (Wenger) Gingrich. She was the wife of the late Wayne Weaver.

She was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church. Edna worked alongside her husband in the office of Woodcorner Garage. In her earlier years, she enjoyed vacationing in Florida. She also enjoyed quilting and spending time with family.

Edna is survived by two sons: Nelson G., husband of Joy (Stahl) Weaver of Lititz; and Kenneth G., husband of Sherry (Fox) Weaver of Ephrata; three daughters: Grace L., wife of Donald Weaver of Spring Grove; Brenda G., wife of Dale Martin of Stevens; Joanne G., wife of Wilfred Martin of Ephrata; one brother: Jesse B. Gingrich of Myerstown; one sister: Mary Witmer of Reinholds; 22 grandchildren; a foster granddaughter; and 48 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Sandra Sensenig; four sisters: Pauline Nolt, Gladys Burkholder, Alma Geist and Nancy Martin; and one great-grandchild.

Services were held March 19 at Martindale Mennonite Church, Ephrata. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Wilbert C. Martin, 87, PennDOT, Eagle Soap worker, active UZ volunteer, antique collector

Wilbert C. Martin, 87, of Brickerville, Elizabeth Township, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Lancashire Hall nursing home in Lancaster.

He was the loving husband of the late Leona E. (Riehl) Martin, and the son of the late Clayton and Suetta (Stover) Martin.

He is survived by three children: Thelma of North Carolina, Richard of Florida, and Robert of Ephrata; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother: Lloyd of Stevens.

He was preceded in death by a son: Clair Ray Martin.

Wilbert was born in Hinkletown, and was a lifetime resident of Lancaster County. He was employed by the Eagle Soap Company of Terre Hill for 16 years as a truck driver, and 23 years as an equipment operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

He was a member of the Reinholds United Zion Church and Sunday school. He was also a volunteer for United Zion Retirement Community, for many years, pushing wheelchairs in for Sunday service, supplying turkeys for their Thanksgiving dinners, and anything else that was needed.

Wilbert’s heart’s desire was to “Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord, He is God; It is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” – Psalm 100 2-3.

His hobbies included collecting antiques, Lancaster County milk bottles, and old toys. He was also a woodworker.

Services were held March 17 at Hahnstown United Zion Church, Ephrata. Interment followed in the adjoining church cemetery.

Richard I. Dean, 85, Army vet, coached four sports at EHS, OMPH member, civic volunteer

Richard I. Dean, 85, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018, at his residence.

He was born in West Beaver Springs to the late John I. and Myrtle H. (Fultz) Dean, and was the husband of Filitea (Poretta) Dean.

Richard entered college in 1951, where he met his wife, Filitea, and they married in June of 1955. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, serving two years. He graduated from the State Teachers College in Lock Haven with a degree in physical education in 1957. He then went on to earn a master’s degree in education from Bucknell University in 1961.

He started teaching physical education at BCI High School in Coalport. There he coached varsity basketball and baseball. He also started the football program for BCI. He was president of the local Lions Club in Coalport.

In 1964, Richard and his wife both began teaching at Ephrata High School. He was the head wrestling and baseball coach, and was an assistant coach in football and basketball. He also was the head coach for the Ephrata Legion team. He was active in the Ephrata Jaycees, serving as president. He was in charge of the Miss Lancaster County Pageant in 1997.

The Ephrata Lions Club honored him as the unofficial founder of the Adopt A Highway maintenance program for collecting aluminum cans on local highways. The Lions Club planted a tree in the Ephrata Township Park in memory of his daughter, Parma.

He was inducted into the Ephrata High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2017. He was a member of OMPH church for over 50 years, serving as one of the original ministers of communion.

Richard loved mentoring young men, but his greatest joy came from being with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He led our family with kindness, compassion and unselfish love. He had a way of blessing everyone he met, and we will sorely miss him.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by a daughter: Victoria E., wife of William Woosley of Loveland, Ohio; a son: David B., husband of Kathy (Maenza) Dean of Mohnton; eight grandchildren: Matthew R., husband of Jennifer (Hildebrandt) Zoll of Lancaster; Stephanie D., wife of D. Ross Marchegiani of St. Paul, Minn.; Stephanie, wife of Jacob Walker of Pittsburgh; Sarah Rose Dean of Mohnton; Stefanie M., wife of Jason Shade of Exeter; William, husband of Kristan Woosley; Elizabeth Woosley; and Clayton Woosley, all of Loveland, Ohio; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Parma Anne Dean; and five siblings: Clinton, Ellsworth, John, Kathleen, and Bernice.

Services were held March 20 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata, with Fr. John McCoughlin C.SS.R. as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell were held at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Elam Harry Mellinger, 67, of Denver, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at The Gardens at Stevens Nursing Home.

He was born in Lancaster County to the late Elam Hauck and Maggie Beck (Zimmerman) Mellinger. Elam was the last of his immediate family.

He enjoyed his pet birds and rabbit, and gardening. Elam was a 1968 graduate of Cocalico High School. He worked for F&M Hat Company since June 10, 1968.

A private graveside burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Muddy Creek Cemetery.

Thomas E. Manbeck, 73, Vietnam vet, CKS Packaging manager, enjoyed motorcycling

Thomas E. Manbeck, 73, of Marietta, Ga., formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at his residence.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Joseph J. and Emma (Hafer) Manbeck.

Thomas worked as a logistics manager for CKS Packaging in the Atlanta area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Thomas enjoyed traveling and motorcycles.

He is survived by two brothers: James and Robert Manbeck.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Grace Heisey.

Services were held March 24 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery.

Leon W. Auker, 53, S & H Express truck jockey, loved to tinker with old cars, had 15 siblings

Leon W. Auker, 53, of Bowmansville, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at UPMC Pinnacle Lititz.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Paul S. and Emeline S. (Wenger) Auker.

Leon was a truck jockey for S & H Express in York and previously for Johnson & Johnson (Pfizer) in Lititz. He loved to tinker with old cars.

Leon is survived by 14 siblings: James (Anna Martin) Auker of Hillsboro, Ohio; Frank (Ruth Brubacker) Auker of Vandalia, Ill.; Russel (Ruth Martin) Auker of Lyndonville, N.Y.; Paul Auker Jr. of Bowmansville; John D. (Edna Stauffer) Auker of Ephrata; Chester (Ruth Ann) Auker of Stevens; Anna Mae (Levi) Stauffer of Delano, Tenn.; Roy (Fern Stauffer) Auker of Port Trevorton; Elizabeth (Ray) Weaver of Peebles, Ohio; Emeline (Fred) Martin of Bainbridge, Ohio; Luke (Charlene Martin) Auker of Mt. Pleasant Mills; Weaver (Barbara Gehman) Auker of Ephrata; Noah (Christine Sensenig) Auker of Bainbridge; Esther (Elvin) Martin of Bainbridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Ann Auker.

Services were held March 23 at New Joy Brethren in Christ Church, Ephrata, with Pastor David Miller officiating. Interment took place in the Stauffer Mennonite Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.

Catherine Stauffer, 96, schoolteacher, member of Centerville Mennonite Church

Catherine Stauffer, 96, of 1238 Division Hwy., Ephrata, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in West Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Eli S. and Mary (Brubacher) Stauffer.

Catherine last served as a schoolteacher and was a member of Centerville Mennonite Church.

Surviving are two siblings: Eli, married to Ruth Stauffer, Narvon; and Mary married to Horace Stauffer, Ephrata; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Emma Zimmerman; Lydia Bowman; Susie, married to Norman Stauffer; Daniel Stauffer; Aaron Stauffer; Amos Stauffer; and Phares Stauffer.

Services were held March 26 at Centerville Mennonite Church, with Bishop Harold Good, Bishop Wilmer Weaver, Wilmer Burkholder, Brenden Weaver and Mervin Burkholder officiating. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.

The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, was in charge of arrangements.

Asher Anthony Luciano, infant son of Anthony and Clover Luciano, Lititz, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2018.

He is survived by his parents and his seven siblings: Kira, Paige, Brie, Keagan, Landon, Kinsey, and Jase Luciano.

Ada Mae (Bucher) Weaver, 100, of Lancaster, formerly of Ephrata, went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2018, at the Mennonite Home.

She was born in Manheim Township to the late Jonas Hess and Ada Mae (Peifer) Bucher, and was the wife of the late Warren Weaver, who passed away in 2014.

She was a member of Crossroads Community and was a lifetime member of Hess Mennonite Church. Ada was a homemaker.

Ada is survived by a son: William Jay, husband of Alice Weaver; a daughter-in-law: Dorothy Weaver; a brother: Melvin Bucher; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Ronald W. Weaver, Theodore Lee Weaver; two brothers: Chester Bucher, Elam Bucher; a sister: Esther Hollinger; and a great-grandson.

Services were March 24 at Crossroads Community Fellowship, Lititz, with Pastor Kyle Buckwalter and Pastor Glen Sell officiating. Interment took place in the Hess Mennonite Cemetery.

Ryan David Spangler, 40, of Ephrata, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at home.

He was born in Ephrata to Susan Ann (Goshert) Spangler and Bruce D. Spangler, husband of Stephanie D. Spangler.

Ryan worked for Arconic Mill Products.

In addition to his parents and stepmother, Ryan is survived by a daughter: Cayli Marie Getz, who is expecting Ryan’s first granddaughter, Avery, in May; a son: Brayden Michael Spangler; a brother: Eric Lee, husband of Lindsey Spangler; and nieces and nephew: Kara, Nick and Abby.

Ryan was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Robert and Lucie Goshert; paternal grandparents: David and Pauline Spangler.

Services were held March 23 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver.
