Margaret S. Mast, 96, SLC Fashions retiree, enjoyed people, gardening, and reading

Margaret S. Mast, 96, a longtime resident of Ephrata, died on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at Fairmount Homes.

She was the wife of the late Kermit Mast, who died in 1973. Born in White Horse, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Lena Mast Studd.

Margaret retired from the former SLC Fashions in Blue Ball where she had been employed for many years in the sample department. She was a member of the Pequea Baptist Church. She enjoyed being around people, gardening, sewing and reading.

Surviving are two daughters: Margaret, wife of Gary Bergstrom of Wisconsin; and Suzanne, wife of Craig Benner of Ephrata; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Charlotte Shannon of Lancaster; Rae, wife of James Skiles of South Carolina; and Dorothy, wife of Harold Sollenberger of Blue Ball.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Audrey Herr; and by a brother: William Studd.

Services and interment in the Honey Brook United Methodist Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

William Earl Allen, 87, Korea vet, district manager for WMATA, Jehovah’s Witness minister

William Earl Allen, 87, of Ephrata, passed away Jan. 11, 2018, with Rosie, his loving wife at his side at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in Opelika, Ala., on Aug. 30, 1930, William was the son of Howard Allen and Mary Richardson Allen.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean War.

William earned his bachelor of science in engineering from the American Institute, and both his master of science in engineering and doctorate in engineering degrees from Century University.

He worked with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority for 10 years as a district manager before his retirement in 1997. William was a minister of the Ephrata Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

William was preceded in death by his parents: Howard and Mary Allen; and one sister: Brenda Allen.

In addition to his wife: Rose M. (Ross) Allen; William is survived by his son: Steven Allen; and daughter: Deborah Robinson, from first wife, Coryye Williams Allen. William is also survived by five sisters and three brothers.

The memorial will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Holland with Ron Blackwell officiating on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 3:30 p.m.

Arnold E. Morris, 84, of Ephrata, passed away Jan. 12, 2018, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Arnold was born in Port Republic, Va., to Robert E. Morris and Caroline (McDonaldson) Morris on Sept. 20, 1933.

He worked as a service manager for Carlos Leffler Oil Company for 22 years. Arnold was a loyal member of the Elks; was an avid golfer, and a member of Manor Golf Course.

Preceding Arnold in death were his parents and seven siblings.

Surviving Arnold are his wife: Edith C. (Beck) Morris; two sons: Timothy E. Morris of Ephrata; and Harold E. Morris, husband of Penny (Charles) Morris of Ephrata; grandchildren: Kelly L. Morris of Lancaster; Jeremy Morris, husband of Kristin K. Morris of League City, Texas; and Richard A. Charles of Palmyra; and one great-grandson: Easton Morris of League City, Texas.

Also, surviving is a sister: Shirley Fackler, of Palmyra.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. on on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 W. Main Street, Ephrata. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.

Sharon P. Mull, 73, EHS grad, homemaker, enjoyed reading, crosswords, and her dogs

Sharon P. Mull, 73, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at home.

She was born in Ephrata to the late Sylvestor and Virginia (Reese) Palm, and was the wife of Charles H. Mull, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.

Sharon was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Ephrata High School, Class of 1962. She loved reading and crossword puzzles, and she especially loved her dogs, Snuggles and Izabella.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sharon is survived by two sons: Charles Jr., husband of Kimberly Mull of Ephrata; Kevin, husband of Denise Mull of Denver; two daughters: Alicia, wife of Jonathan Force of Denver; Melissa, wife of Robert Cartwright of Ephrata; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents: Robert and Janice Lloyd; and a brother: Cloy Palm.

Services were held Jan. 15 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Father John McLoughlin C.SS.R officiating. Interment took place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.

Helen Gertrude Luttrell, 90, Cox’s Liquors managing partner, enjoyed volunteering, motor trips

Helen Gertrude (Cox) Luttrell, 90, of Ephrata, previously of Hyattsville, Md., died in Mathews, Va., surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 of natural causes. Helen was born Feb. 20, 1927 in New York City to the late Edward H Cox and Gertrude (Cox) Valentine.

She was a bookkeeper and managing partner of Cox’s Liquors, in Columbia Park, Md., and enjoyed motor trips and volunteering in the Ladies VFW Auxiliary

Helen was preceded in death by her husband: Garnett Luttrell; and sister: Margaret Peake.

She is survived by her sons: Gerald Luttrell of Severna Park, Md.; Gregory Luttrell of Sells, Ariz.; and daughter: Geraldine (Luttrell) Hartlove of Mathews, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grand children.

A celebration of life was held at the Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, Brentwood, Md., on Jan. 22. She was interred at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood.

Edward N. Asquith, 54, Ephrata, Eagle Disposal truck driver, loving father of three

Edward N. Asquith, 54, of 41 E. Fulton St., Ephrata, died unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2018 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

His wife of 19 years, Beth A. (Kennel) Asquith, survives. Born in Annapolis, Md., he was the son of Martha (Reynolds) Asquith and the late William N. Asquith.

Edward was a truck driver for Eagle Disposal.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are three children: Dante Alexander Asquith, Lindsey Asquith, and April Asquith; four grandchildren; and four brothers: Larry Ireland, William J. Asquith, Glen M. Asquith, and David L. Asquith.

Services were held Jan. 20 at the Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland. Kindly omit flowers.

Douglas I. Krimes, 67, Vietnam vet, Ephrata Borough worker, owned painting business

Douglas I. Krimes, 67, of Denver, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018.

Born in Ephrata, Doug was the son of the late Paul and Florence (Blantz) Krimes, and husband of the late Sherry Lee Keith.

He proudly served the Borough of Ephrata for 37 years, before retiring in 2012. Doug also previously co-owned and operated Hornberger & Krimes Painting Services.

Doug was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ephrata AMVETS Post 136. A very mechanically inclined person, Doug loved to tinker and work with his hands. He also loved hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by three children: Angel G. Martin, companion of Ray Latshaw, of Stevens; Misty L. Oberholtzer, widow of Raymond Oberholtzer, of Denver; and Douglas P. Krimes, husband of Danielle L. Krimes, of Denver; seven grandchildren: Aslei Martin, Damion Oberholtzer, Raven Oberholtzer, Gavin Kramer, Chad Krimes, Tara Krimes, and Emily Krimes; two great-grandchildren: Anthony Young and Adrianna Cozzone; five siblings: Walter, Verna, Kathrine, Robert, and Beatrice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Doug was preceded in death by a daughter: Brandy Sue Krimes; a granddaughter: Amanda Martin; and a sister: Dorothy Auker.

Friends will be received at Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, on Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Roger Hornberger officiating.

Keith Scott Weachter, 49, Ryder Truck mechanic, nature lover, had an outgoing personality

Keith Scott Weachter, 49, of Ephrata, passed away Jan. 19, 2018 at the Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Keith fought a very determined eight-year battle with lung cancer.

He was the husband of Deborah L. Poysher Weachter for 12 years on Sept. 6.

He is also survived by his parents: Larry and Nancy Shiffler Weachter of Lititz; a nephew: Ryan Weachter and his wife, Savannah; and a sister-in-law: Marion Weachter.

Preceding him in death was a brother: Kevin Weachter; and a niece: Brittany Weachter.

Keith was born at Ephrata hospital and graduated from Ephrata High School in 1986. He attended Willow Street Vo-Tech and went on to work as a diesel mechanic for Ryder Truck for 29 years. He was a member and steward of Teamsters Union No. 771, Ephrata; Lodge No. 665, F&AM, Lancaster Reading Consistory; and Rajah Shrine.

Keith loved nature and the outdoors, spending time hiking through Middlecreek Wildlife Management Area, birdwatching, and playing golf. Together, he and Deb enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and visiting Cape May. Keith will be remembered as having an outgoing personality, a good sense of humor, and caring very much for the people in his life. He will be greatly be missed.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at Brickerville United Lutheran Church, 340 East Division Highway, Lititz, beginning with a Masonic service, followed by a memorial service, with Rev. Scott K. Davis officiating. Interment will be private. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests during a luncheon at the church immediately following the service.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute and the staff of Hospice and Community Care for their wonderful support to Keith.

Steven Edward Brenner, 56, raised in Farmersville, worked at Stauffer Machine, loved the outdoors

Steven Edward Brenner, 56, of Blackwell, Mo., departed this life Dec. 20, 2017 at his home in Blackwell after a brief illness.

He was born on April 23, 1961 in Ishpeming, Mich., and was raised in Farmersville by his parents Claire (Martinen) Brenner and Frederick Roy Brenner.

Steve attended Conestoga Valley High School before enlisting and proudly serving his country in the Marine Corps. He worked as a machinist for nearly 40 years, beginning with Stauffer Machine in Ephrata, and most recently with MD & A in St. Louis, Mo. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge #689 and the AmVets Post #48 in DeSoto, Mo. He loved the outdoors, and especially cherished time spent with his family.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 29 years: Rochelle “Shelly” (Short) Brenner of Blackwell, Mo.; two children: Rachel E. Brenner of Arlington, Texas; and Second Lt. Mitchell A. Brenner of Fort Campbell, Ky.; mother: Claire; three sisters: Danita (Irvin) Martin of Manheim; Amy (Jeffrey) Auker of Lititz; and Tanya Worley of Ephrata; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and many friends.

Steve was preceded in death on Nov. 22 by his father: Frederick Roy Brenner; and also by his grandparents: Arne and Marie Makela, and A. Roy and Elizabeth Brenner.

Steve was laid to rest at Bethlehem Cemetery in The Land Between the Lakes, Eddyville, Ky.,  a place he loved to visit with his family.

Ruth Eileen Gilbert, 78, loving and generous family woman, enjoyed music, Philly sports

Ruth Eileen Gilbert, 78, formerly of Terre Hill, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018.

Born in Martindale, she was the daughter of the late Harry I. and Catherine Robison Baxter, and the wife of the late Rodney K. Gilbert.

Eileen was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Quarryville. She loved the Lord, her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed music, crossword puzzles, cross stitch, and electronic solitaire. In addition she was an avid Flyers and Phillies fan, and will be remembered for always giving to those in need.

She is survived by her daughter: Wanda, wife of Jerry McKonly, Lancaster; her son: Allen, husband of Connie Gilbert, Ashburn, Va.; two sisters: Virginia Mullin; and Beth, wife of Otmar Renken; two brothers: Ralph, husband of Veanna Baxter; and Harold, husband of Kathy Baxter; three grandchildren: Kristin, wife of Ruiqi Zhang; Nicole, wife of Kevin Regan; and Brittany Gilbert; and four great-grandchildren: Luke, Peter, Isaac, and Joshua.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Eileen’s celebration of life service at Memorial United Methodist Church, 101 S. Hess St., Quarryville, on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chris Eden officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Alma B. Imhoff, 97, hard worker, ran Alma’s Nutrition Center at Green Dragon

Alma B. Imhoff, 97, formerly of Stevens, died peacefully, Jan. 16, 2018, at the home of her daughter, Joyce, in Spring Township, Berks County.

Born in West Cocalico Township, she was a daughter of the late Phares S. and Annie (Bollinger) Zartman, and widow of Harold E. Imhoff.

She was a member of Mellinger’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schoeneck, and operated Alma’s Nutrition Center at Green Dragon Farmer’s Market and Leesport Auction. Alma was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are her children: Joyce M., married to Ronald Heckman, Sinking Spring; Janice E., married to Douglas Hirneisen, Greencastle; Nevin J. Imhoff, Costa Rica; Glenn, married to Nancy (Grant) Wenger, Chester Springs; and Lowell Dean, married to Donna (Hanna) Imhoff, Denver; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Eva Snader, Mabel Zerbe, and Ira Zartman.

Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, is assisting the family with private arrangements. Inurnment will be in Mellinger’s Cemetery, Schoeneck.

Harry W. Brower, 85, worked at Burnham Boiler Corp., Salem E&R member, tool collector

Harry W. Brower, 85, of Stevens, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at UPMC Pinnacle Lititz.

He was born in Salisbury Township to the late Pearl F. Brower, and was the husband of the late Una Kay (Gockley) Brower, who passed away in 2014.

A member of Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church, Reamstown, Harry was a boilermaker for Burnham Boiler Corp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting tools.

Harry is survived by two sons: Thomas L., husband of Beth (Stayer) Brower of Bowmansville; Timothy L., husband of Karen (Lichty) Brower of Reinholds; two grandchildren: Joseph, husband of Rachel Brower; Jennifer Brower; and two great-grandchildren: Micah and Jacob Brower.

Services were Jan. 22 at Stradling Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Joel B. Hertzog officiating. Interment took place in the Mount Zion Evangelical Cemetery.

Nancy L. Althouse, Animal lover, equestrienne, worked at Wernersville State Hospital

Nancy L. Althouse, born on April 26, 1948, passed away on Jan. 14, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Carl and Hazel (Hoshauer) Mohler.

Nancy was an animal lover all her life. She dreamed of owning a horse, and at age 17, with her brother and sister, bought Bucky for $50. He was always called “the best horse ever.” She graduated from Meredith Manor School of Horsemanship in West Virginia. Her love of horses continued and included Arabians, which she and her husband Curt had raised and shown.

Dogs were also loved, but it was cats that would fill her heart and time. After she and Curt were married, a kitten named Tabby came into their lives. That was the start of many cats, domesticated and feral, needing love and a home. Nancy provided both with open arms.

After graduating from Garden Spot High School, in 1966, she worked at New Holland Machine for many years as a secretary. Her current job was at Wernersville State Hospital, as a medical secretary, for many wonderful doctors.

Nancy and Curt were married on Sept. 22, 1973, and lived their entire lives near Denver, in a house built by Curt and his father, Clyde.

She is survived by her husband: Curt; sister: Bonnie (Randy) Fosnocht; brother: Tim (Susan-Jane) Mohler; and sister: Susie (Ray) Riegel, who was much more like a daughter to her; sister-in-law: Mary Mohler; and mother-in-law: Anna Althouse.

She is also survived by nieces: Christy, Lisa, Tiffany, and Janice; and nephews: Nathan, Ted, and Ben. She was “Aunt Nancy” to her great-nieces and great-nephews: Shawn, Ariana, Meara, Raina, Lynea, and Eli; and foster sisters: Felicity Lord and Rose Lucas.

A memorial was held Jan. 20 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver.

Galen J. Weidman, 89, Army vet, teacher/football coach at Ephrata and Cocalico H.S.

Galen J. Weidman, 89, of Ephrata, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at home.

He was born in Reinholds to the late John and Eva (Mohler) Weidman, and was the husband of Lillian (Huber) Weidman, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

Galen was a 1946 graduate of Ephrata High School. “Galie” earned a BA degree from Moravian College, class of 1950, and a Master’s degree in educational administration from Temple University in 1956.

He served in the Army from January 1951 to December 1952. After his military service, Galen was a teacher and high school football coach at Ephrata, Cocalico, and Manheim Central. In 1956, he coached Ephrata to its only undefeated season (10-0); and in 1958 coached Cocalico to a 10-0 undefeated season.

In the 1960s he taught and coached at Manheim Central where he established a winning football program. In 1969 until 1980 Galen was principal at Manheim Central Junior High School. After retiring from education, Galen obtained his real estate brokers license and worked at Haunstein Real Estate Agency.

Just as important as his winning record and successful career are, the life values he instilled in his players, students, and children. Galie enjoyed family gatherings, playing golf, working with his hands, traveling and participating in lively family discussions. Galen was a member of the American Legion, Ephrata Elks, the VFW, and a former member of the AmVets and the War Memorial Association.

In addition to his wife, Galen is survived by four children: Deb, wife of Randy Auker of Denver; Gail Weidman of Harrisburg; Timothy, husband of Joy Weidman of McKinleyville, Calif.; Michael, husband of Lisa Weidman of Ephrata; eight grandchildren: Hilary and Katrina Auker; Courtney, wife of Josh Armour; Morgan Jones; Mira, Matthew, Nathan and Anna Weidman; a great-grandson: Bradley; a brother: Raymond Weidman; and a sister: Elizabeth, wife of Howard Haws.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: E. Paul Weidman.

Services were Jan. 22 at Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata, with Reverend Bob Shrom officiating. Interment took place in the Mohler’s Brethren Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veteran Honor Guard and the 21 Vet Salute.

Russell Elwood Sweigart, 89, of Denver, passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at home.

He was born in East Cocalico Township to the late Paul G. and Helen (Sensenig) Sweigart.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church in Reamstown, and enjoyed gardening and farming. Russell worked as a plasterer prior to retiring from Carpenter Technology in Reading.

Russell is survived by a son: Larry, husband of Ida Mae (Rudy) Sweigart of Denver; a daughter: Carol, wife of Leon Leslie Fasnacht of Stevens; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings: Leon Sweigart of South Dakota; Ruth Ann Waring, Janet Taylor, and Donald Sweigart, all of Melbourne, Fla.

He was preceded in death by first wife: Geraldine (Labe) Sweigart in 1991; second wife: Anna Mary (McElhenny) Sweigart in 2012; a brother: Chester Sweigart; and an infant brother.

Services were held Jan. 27 at St. Paul’s EC Church, Reamstown, with The Reverend Kirk Marks presiding. Interment took take place in the Swamp Cemetery.

Irene Sensenig, 88, homemaker, member of Martindale Mennonite Church

Irene Sensenig, 88, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Manheim, where she had resided for the past two and a half years. She had formerly lived on Frysville Road, Ephrata.

She was the wife of the late Miles Sensenig who died in 1974. Born in Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel Snader Weaver.

Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church.

Surviving is a daughter: Eunice S., wife of Clyde S. Peters of Manheim. She raised Alma N. Sensenig of Denver; and the late Rhoda N. Zimmerman, wife of Roland Zimmerman, of East Earl. She is also survived by: seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother: C. Irvin Weaver of Ephrata; and a sister-in-law: Mabel, wife of Harold Good of Reinholds. She was preceded in death by a brother Earl Weaver.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata, with Bishop Daryl Weaver, Eugene Weaver and Luke Weaver officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Ray W. Gehman, 88, dairy farmer, enjoyed collecting tractors, watching hummingbirds

Ray W. Gehman, 88, of Ulysses, formerly of Stevens, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.

He was born in East Earl Township to the late Taylor P. and Cora S. (Shetzley) Gehman, and was the husband of the late Florence A. (Smith) Gehman, who passed away in 2000.

Ray was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling, collecting tractors and going to auctions. He especially enjoyed sitting on his back porch watching the hummingbirds.

Ray is survived by a son: Randolph T., husband of Sue (Sexton) Gehman of Ulysses; two daughters-in-law: Patrice (Stick) Gehman of Stevens, Susan (Leisey) Gehman of Mount Pleasant Mills; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two brothers: Clair R., husband of Carol (Ranck) Gehman of Leola; Darrel G., husband of Betty (Rodgers) Gehman of Lititz.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Leonard R. and Roger D. Gehman; two sisters; and two brothers.

Services were held Jan 29 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Timothy Craven officiating. Interment took place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.

Juan Navedo Jr., 63, Stevens, was painter, enjoyed fishing, studying the word of God

Juan Navedo Jr., 63, of Stevens, passed away on Saturday evening, Jan. 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 22, 1954 in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Carmen L. Garcia, Reading, and the late Juan Concepcion Navedo.

Juan worked for many years as a painter and in the lumber industry and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed cooking, cleaning, fishing, gardening, studying the word of God, and most of all, his family.

In addition to his mother, Carmen, Juan is survived by his fiancée: Deborah L. Flahart; his children: Angela M. Anspach, Reading; Juan Navedo III, husband of Shanda Navedo, Reading; Joshua R. Navedo, Bern Township; Michael J. Navedo, Lancaster; and Maraya M. Navedo, Elkton, Ky; and his stepdaughter: Ruby L. Flahart, at home. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Ceferino Hernandez, Reading; Wanda Troche, Reading; Denise Garcia, Reading; Jose M. Garcia, Pembroke Pines, Fla.; Fritzi Lebron, Fredericksburg; Pablo T. Lebron, Reading, Gloria Hernandez, Reading; and Clarisol Saez, Reading.

Along with his father, Juan was preceded in death by a son: Carmelo Navedo; and his siblings: Luis, Juana, Angel, and Julio.

Funeral services for Juan will be held on Friday, Feb. 2,at 11 a.m. at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood, with Pastor Israel Vega officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Martin Martin Weaver, 90, Lincoln Christian Home resident, Bernville Mennonite Church deacon

Martin Martin Weaver, 90, Womelsdorf, born Dec. 16, 1927, died Jan. 24, 2018, in his residence at Lincoln Christian Home, Lincoln.

He was a member of the Bernville Mennonite Church, where he had served as deacon for many years. He was the son of the late Daniel and Lizzie (Martin) Weaver.

He is survived by one son: Larry, of Womelsdorf; six daughters: Janice, wife of Warren Martin, Montney, B.C.; Julia, Womelsdorf; Debra, wife of Daniel Weaver, Lititz; Kathleen, wife of Paul Siegrist, Wernersville; Jolene, Womelsdorf; and Lucinda, wife of John Siegrist, Sunbury; 36 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Naomi Weaver; Esther Weaver; Anna Mae Weaver; Martha, wife of Raymond Hoover; Betty, wife of James Martin, all of Lititz.

In addition to his wife, Grace (Horst) Weaver, he was preceded in death by two daughters; a brother: Henry; a sister: Ruth, wife of Ira Landis; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 29 at Bernville Mennonite Church. Please omit flowers.

Ray R. Redcay, 76, Redcay Paving owner, former East Cocalico water and sewage supervisor

Ray R. Redcay, 76, of Ephrata, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness with esophageal cancer.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1941 in Blainsport to the late Harold W. and Grace B. (Hartman) Redcay and was the husband of the late Judith V. (Peters) Redcay, who died in 2015.

Ray was a member of Coleman Memorial Chapel. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and traveling throughout the country. He also enjoyed birding, family time, volunteering, square dancing and his Boston Terriers. Ray was a member of Gold Wing Cycles, and was active in various other cycle clubs.

He was self-employed and owned Redcay Paving, had worked at Brubaker & Rupp, was a supervisor for East Cocalico Township water and sewage for over 20 years until his retirement.

Ray is survived by two daughters: Valerie L., wife of Stephen M. Olesh of Bethel; Raeanne R., wife of Douglas E. Enck of Ephrata; three granddaughters: Shellbi K. Olesh, Angela R. Enck, and Cassandra L. Enck; a brother: Harold Redcay Jr. of Bull Head City, Ariz.; and a sister,:Fern F. Sonon of Hamburg.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a sister: Evelyn M. Redcay.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the Coleman Memorial Chapel, 1980 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, followed by his funeral service at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Russell E. Hobbs officiating. Interment will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster and Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital for the great care given to Ray.
