Doris A. Petersdorf, 89, formerly of Akron, volunteered at Cocalico Area Senior Center

Doris A. Petersdorf, 89, formally a resident of Akron passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Ephrata Manor, where she had resided since 2008.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Doris was the daughter of the late George and Anna Lindeke. Her husband of 37 years, Sherwood J. Petersdorf, passed away Oct. 8, 1983.

Doris was a member of the Lititz Moravian Church and the Brownstown Young-at-Hearts. She was a longtime member of the Cocalico Area Senior Center where she helped organize bus trips and taught line dancing classes. She enjoyed traveling, reading, volunteering, and spending time with her friends and family.

Doris is survived by one daughter: Nancy Messersmith, wife of John Messersmith of Hamburg; one granddaughter: Holly Radcliffe-Worley, wife of Jason Worley, Stevens; and one great-granddaughter: Harper Worley.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
