Death of Local Interest – Oct. 22, 2014

Malina Jo “Molly” Fry, 34, of Pottsville, passed away Oct. 6 due to a battle with Crohn’s Disease and cancer. Molly worked as a paralegal in Harrisburg and Reading. She was known for using movie quotes in many of her conversations. Molly was a member of Dove Westgate Church, Ephrata, and she loved her Thursday night cell group.

Lois I. Heller, 89, of Lancaster, went to meet her Creator Oct. 8. Lois had been a self-employed professional seamstress. She had also, with her husband, served as a tour host for both Menno and Heritage Travel over the years. She was a long-time and active member of Neffsville Mennonite Church, where she sang in the choir. Lois enjoyed sewing, singing, quilting and traveling. Her daughter, P. Darlene, married to Philip Harnly, lives in Ephrata.

Anna May Koser, formerly of Mount Joy, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 13 at United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz. She retired at the age of 76 from Elizabethtown College Dining Services. Anna May loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her friends. She enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting, and taking care of her flowers. She was still baking pies and cookies at the age of 93. Her daughter, Virginia (Nix) Hoover, wife of Pastor Glenn A. Hoover, lives in Brownstown.

Mary H. Shirk, 87, of East Earl, died Oct. 7 at her home after declining health. Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. Her sister-in-law, Ruth Martin, lives in Terre Hill.
