Shirley A. Kring, teacher’s aide, volun. coordinator

Shirley A. Kring, 85, of Denver, formerly of Mohnton, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, in Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.

Born in Shillington, a daughter of the late Luther and Grace (Barthold) Hartz, she was the wife of Paul E. Kring for 64 years. Shirley graduated in 1946 from Shillington High School and worked as a volunteer coordinator at ManorCare Sinking Spring and as a teacher’s aide with Governor Mifflin School District. She was a member and on the altar guild of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, and was a former longtime member of Allegheny UCC. Bird watching, flower gardening and traveling gave her pleasure.

Also surviving are sons: Jeffery Kring, Mohnton; Joel A. (Linn) Kring, Wernersville; and Jamie P. (Cheryl Dirks) Kring, Leesport; grandchildren: Laura and Jason Kring; step-grandchildren: Stephanie Shunk, Darrin Weaver, Rochelle Allgyer and Derrick Lush; sister: Barbara (Jerome) Behney and brother: Thomas (Donna) Hartz, both of Wernersville. A memorial celebration of life will be held Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. from Peace UCC, 37 E. Swartzville Rd., Denver, PA 17517, with her pastor, The Rev. William E. Hoch, officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
