He was born in Beartown to the late Benjamin and Elsie (Sensenich) Weaver, and was the husband of JoAn (Eberly) Weaver, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Homer’s Christian faith was the driving force in all facets of his life as shown by his choice to serve his country, his church, his family and community. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s E.C. Church, Reamstown, where he served by leading prayer groups and teaching Sunday school for many years. Homer enjoyed a variety of pastimes including golf, fishing, traveling, and the outdoors. A perfect weekend for Homer included going to his cottage in Snyder County with his extended family, spending time fishing, hiking with grandchildren (and their dogs), playing canasta, and attending services on Sunday morning.
After serving his country in the US Navy during World War II, he attended Millersville State College, earning a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. He continued his schooling, receiving a master’s degree from Penn State University and enriched his career through studies at Temple and Lehigh Universities.
Homer had a distinguished career as a teacher and high school principal in the Cocalico School District serving 40 years prior to his retirement in 1992.
In addition to his loving wife: JoAn; Homer is survived by two daughters: Sue Ann, wife of Joseph Augustine, Boiling Springs; and Elaine K., wife of Roy Rakiewicz, Denver; four grandchildren: Jared, husband of Nicole Augustine, Elizabeth, wife of Brian Parker, Alina Rakiewicz and Tara Rakiewicz; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beatrice Metcaff and Hazel Heffner, both of Myerstown, and Evelyn, wife of Robert Kramer, Reading.
