Kenneth Michael “Mike” Fry, 67, of East Fallowfield, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at home.
He was born in Lancaster to Lilian Fry of Pittsburgh, and the late Mahlon Fry, and was the husband of Arlette J. (Burion) Fry, who passed away in 2000.
Mike was a lifelong member of the NORKA hunting camp in Potter County. He was the starting center on the 1968 Ephrata High School county championship team and was a member of the 1970 Division III national championship team at Philadelphia Textile College. He was an avid sports fisherman and fly fisherman that took him to Iceland, the French Alps, Montana, Alaska, Colorado and British Colombia. He enjoyed deer hunting, golfing, cooking, wines, gastronomy, and loved going to the horse races, and traveling.
He was a chief estimator and salesman for Gooding, Simpson & Mackes.
Mike is survived by a daughter: Chantal Detournay, wife of Damian Harris of France; two grandchildren: Sebastian and Sophie Harris of France; a sister: Kathy, wife of Joe Horachak of Pittsburgh; and companion: Diane Schmaler of Cossayuna, N.Y.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at Stradling Funeral Homes, 30 N. Ninth St., Akron. An additional viewing will held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, June 14, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at the Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery.
