Miriam Adele Hoffman, 79, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 2, 2018 in presence of family.
Born May 14, 1939 in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul S. Wenger and Bertha (Sensenich) Wenger. She was the loving wife of Paul R. Hoffman Sr. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 1.
In addition to her husband, Miriam is survived by four children: Paul R. Hoffman Jr., husband of Barbara, Lancaster; Dennis L. Hoffman, Ephrata; Darlene J. Gingrich, wife of Kevin, Ephrata; and Michelle L. Hoffman, Lititz.
Miriam was known as “Maw Maw” by her three grandchildren and two great-grandsons, whom she adored: Chad M. Gingrich (husband of Kaity) San Diego, Calif.; Ashley N. Lewis (wife of Tyler) Akron; Jessica A. Di Paolo (wife of Etienne) Ephrata; and great-grandsons: Cooper J. Lewis and Cayden P. Di Paolo. She is also survived by her sister: R. Yvonne Enck, wife of M. Douglas Enck, Ephrata.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, and brother: James S. Wenger.
Miriam loved her family and countless friends; to know her was to love her. Miriam was a sweet, caring, and generous person. She had a remarkable faith, and never once questioned God’s grace.
A memorial service will be held at her church, Lititz Mennonite Church, 165 Front St., Lititz, on Sunday, July 1, with Pastor Rodney Martin officiating. All may greet the family from 4 p.m. until the time of the service starting at 5. A reception to follow in the church social hall as family and friends are invited to attend to celebrate Miriam’s life.
