Barton E. Short, 51, worked at Ephrata Giant, fair committee member, enjoyed fishing

Barton E. Short, 51, of Pottstown, formerly of Ephrata and Narvon, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

Born in Elkton, Md., he was the son of the late Harry S. and Gail (Pullen) Short.

Bart graduated from Garden Spot High School in 1986. He worked as maintenance engineer for Tyson Foods in New Holland; and also for Giant Food Stores, in the deli, in Ephrata; and Clark Food Service Equipment in Lancaster.

He was active on the Ephrata Fair committee, and formerly active in Boy Scouts. He enjoyed fishing, walking on the beach, and learning history.

Surviving is his mother: Susan S. Short of Pottstown; three children: Aundraya M. Baxter of Denver; Zachary B. Short of Sanford, N.C.; and Jayde E. Short of Denver; two grandchildren: Camden and Dalton Baxter; three siblings: Michele D. Short of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; Harry S. Short Jr. of Mount Gretna; and Doris D. Short of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two nephews: Grant S. and Tate C. Schelling.

Preceding him in death is a sister: Gail Short Meletesta.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
