Rodney James Isenberg, 67, of Akron, left behind many sad friends when he died on May 30, 2018.
Rod was a singular individual who regarded friendship, honesty and integrity as the most valuable things in life. He was an intelligent observer of all things and spoke with authority on numerous subjects.
Rod was a gifted carpenter and woodworker. He was considered an expert on period home restoration and fitted out many homes from his considerable collection of authentic hardware and doors. He learned hand work as an assistant in his father’s wooden shoe last repair shop when Akron was the center of Lancaster County’s burgeoning shoe manufacturing industry.
Rod’s quick wit and pleasant demeanor will be sorely missed. He is a graduate of Ephrata High School (‘68) and attended Pfeiffer College in North Carolina.
Rod is survived by his sister: Carol Pyle, and her daughter, Ann E. Von Neida, both of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents: the late Harry W. (“Jim”) Isenberg and Marcella C. Isenberg.
A celebration of Rodney’s life will be held Monday, June 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Udder Choice, 1812 W. Main St., Ephrata. Dress casually.
