Robert M. Jones, 85, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Dec.1, 2015, at Ephrata Manor.
Robert was married to the late Nannette B. (Brown) Jones, who passed away in 2002; and was a son of the late Schuyler Hart Jones and Gladys (Crittenden) Jones.
He is survived by a brother: Don, of White Plains, N.Y.; and a daughter: Gloria Covington, of Chester. He is mourned by many friends and relatives.
In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters: Betty Duncan and Frances Jones; and stepsons: Charles and Richard Anderson.
Bob graduated with honors from Centerville High School in 1949. He had a full scholarship to St. Joseph’s College and spent one year in the seminary. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1959 and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He retired from IBM as a customer engineer and also retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Store in Ephrata. Bob was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata for 30 years and was active in The Yearling’s senior group at OMPH for 13 years. Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed music.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, 320 Church Ave., Ephrata. Final commendation and farewell will be held at Mount Lawn Cemetery in Philadelphia at the convenience of the family.
