Clarence S. Stauffer, 91, New Holland, owner of C.S. Stauffer & Sons, enjoyed camping

Clarence S. Stauffer, 91, of New Holland, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at his residence.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Harry and Hettie (Stoner) Stauffer; and was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Steffy) Stauffer, who died in May 2011.

A member of Metzler’s Mennonite Church, he was a charter member of the Garden Spot Lions Club, awarded the Melvin Jones Award, enjoyed camping, working outside and his pet dogs. Clarence was the founder and business owner of C.S. Stauffer & Sons in Hinkletown. In his earlier years he worked on the railroad line from Rothsville to Lititz.

Clarence is survived by four sons: Bruce, husband of Joan (McFarland) Stauffer, of Akron; Clare, husband of Peg (Brown) Stauffer, of Brownstown; C. Laverne, husband of Loretta (Lapp) Stauffer, of Ephrata; Mahlon, husband of Linda (Kreider) Stauffer, of Paradise; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Clarence was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Services were held Nov. 30 at Metzler Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with the Revs. Eugene Zoll, Ryan Bomgardner, and Lee Roy Martin officiating. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.
