Myrtle Foust, 94, Ephrata, partner at Roy Foust Painting, volunteered at Ephrata Fair

Myrtle Foust, 94, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Fairmount Homes, Inc.

She was born in Lancaster to the late George and Dora (Pickel) Schmook and was the wife of the late Roy N. Foust.

Myrtle was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ephrata. She was an artist, a member of the Soroptimist Club of Ephrata, and volunteered on the Ephrata Fair Committee for a number of years. Myrtle was a business partner with her husband in Roy Foust Painting, where she designed custom draperies and slip covers.

Myrtle is survived by a daughter: Dora E., wife of Delmas E. Gentzler of Ephrata; a son: John R., husband of Jacquiline M. Foust of Denver; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister: Charlotte Ballou of Lancaster.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings: infants Dora and George, Esther Brommer, John Schmook, Jay Schmook, Edna Swan and Fred Schmook.

Services were held Nov. 25 at Wheatridge Chapel, Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, with Rev. Jeffrey Goodman officiating. Interment took place in the Wolf Cemetery.

Frances J. Mellinger, 96, Wernersville, retired from Boscov’s, enjoyed quilting, cooking

Frances J. Mellinger, 96, of Wernersville, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 in the Phoebe Berks Health Care Center.

She was the wife of Russell B. Mellinger, who passed away Sept. 5, 2003, after 64 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Frances (Petrovich) Withers.

Frances retired from Boscov’s West as the manager of the Boys Department. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing and cooking.

She is survived by four sons: Byron M., husband of Maggie, Wyomissing; R. Martin, Bern Township; Scott A., husband of Debra, Robeson Township; and Philip T., husband of Mary Lynn, Ellicott City, Md.; six grandchildren; and a sister: Gloria Ogan.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Leroy Withers.

Services were held Nov. 22 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Byron Mellinger officiating. Interment followed in the Lincoln Cemetery, Apple St., Ephrata.

Clarence H. Weaver, 85, Ephrata, drove truck for Burkholder Paving, part-time farmer

Clarence H. “Buffy” Weaver, 85, of Ephrata, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 20, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

Clarence was born on Aug. 4, 1929 to the late Harry H. and Ada (Hoover) Weaver in West Earl Township. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Arlene (Martin) Weaver.

He was an active member of Martindale Mennonite Church. In his retirement years he was employed at Royer’s Pharmacy, Ephrata. He was a truck driver for many years at Martin Limestone, and Burkholder Paving. He also was a part-time farmer. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and two sons. Shirley, wife of Sam Trupe, East Earl; Roger, husband of Jolene (Miller) Weaver, Denver; Nancy, wife of Clair Sensenig, Ephrata; Dennis, husband of Amy (Redcay) Weaver, Ephrata; Glenda, wife of Jim Evans, Lititz. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; a brother: Abram Weaver, husband of Betty, Ephrata; and two sisters: Anna Mary, wife of the late Eli Nolt, Ephrata; and Ruth, wife of Clarence Martin, Stevens.

Services were held Nov. 26 at Martindale Mennonite Church, Ephrata. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Anna M. Serpico, 88, of Brownstown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

Anna was born in Union City, N.J., daughter of the late John and Mary (DeFabrizio) Marano.

She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata, and a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons: Paul Mohr, husband of Patricia, of Ephrata; and Joseph Mohr of Lebanon, N.J.; two daughters: Maryann, wife of Thomas Capizzi, of Brownstown; and Louise, wife of Kevin Diem, of Brownstown; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother: Patrick Marano of Las Vegas, Nev.; and three sisters: Louise Tucillo of Holmdel, N.J.; Jenny Rutkowski of Hoboken, N.J.; and Mary, wife of Thomas Mastropietro of North Bergen, N.J.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by one son: Christopher Mohr; one grandson: Thomas J. Mohr; four brothers: Ralph, Anthony, Carmen, and Frank Marano; and two sisters: Florence Onello and Josephine Tiffany.

Services were held Nov. 22 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Ephrata. Final Commendation and Farewell followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.

Barbara A. Schoenberger, 71, of Ephrata, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Lancaster to the late J. Donald and Julia (Haines) Bear and was the wife of the late Eugene E. Schoenberger who passed away in 2007.

Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ephrata. She had worked at Pizza Hut for 18 years. She was a Neil Diamond fan, loved the beach and animals.

She is survived by four daughters: Audrey Baker of Ephrata; Donna, wife of Leonard Hollinger of Ephrata: Debra, wife of Ronald Shank of Akron; Julie J. Schoenberger of Ephrata; a step-son: Thomas Karol; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 21 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata. Interment was in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.

Patricia L. Peterson, 73, Stevens, died Nov. 26, 2014, in Ephrata Hospital following a battle with cancer.

Born in West Chester, a daughter of Daniel and Alice (Lobb) Zittle, her husband, Alvin Peterson, died in 1996. Patricia was a 1959 Downingtown H.S. graduate and a homemaker. She cherished her family, was a very upbeat person with a positive outlook on life, and enjoyed bingo.

Surviving are her daughters: Alice Siebel, Ephrata; Joanne Melchiorre, Honey Brook; and Lee Ann Peterson, Stevens; son: Scott Peterson, companion of Marian Dennis, Bowmansville; grandchildren: Kyle, Brittany, Hannah, Caitlyn and Cooper; a great-grandson: Gabe, and expected twin boys; sisters: Marie Peazzoni, Barbara Harkins, Peg Smith, Ethel Beebe, Dorothy Mest and Sharon Davidson; and brothers: Richard and Daniel Zittle.

Kimberly M. Beach, 51, Ephrata, Mennonite Central Committee volunteer, enjoyed singing

Kimberly M. Beach, 51, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at her home.

She was born in Ephrata to Richard and Dorothy T. (Dansavage) Beach.

Kim attended Grace Fellowship Church. She was a 1982 graduate of Ephrata High School. Kim had volunteered her time at the Mennonite Central Committee. She enjoyed word search puzzles, playing board games such as Yahtzee and Uno, attending church and singing.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents: Benjamin and Veronica Graboski Dansavage and Kimber and Lydia Shoop Beach, all of Shamokin.

A viewing will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Avenue, Ephrata, followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastors Frank Rice and Jim Hertzler officiating. Interment will take place in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery

Francis Preston Mark Brighton, 75, Akron, worked in sales and finance, avid gardener and nature lover

Francis “Fran” Preston Mark Brighton, 75, of Akron, peacefully departed this life, Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 after a short stay at Golden Living Nursing Home, Exeter.

Fran was an active member in his community, serving on multiple youth councils, civic committees and boards throughout his life. He was a devoted seeker in his Roman Catholic faith (Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata) and was a beloved brother, father, uncle, friend and mentor to a large extended family of siblings, brothers and sisters-in-law, abundant nieces and nephews and friends. He was an avid gardener and nature lover.

Born in 1939, Fran was one of eight children born to Thelma (Asper) Brighton and Robert Brighton, both deceased. He worked in sales and finance professions until his retirement in 2006, living and working in Lancaster and Berks County. He spent what he called “my happiest years” in the Ephrata area until his death this week.

A rare senior hemophiliac, Fran’s gratitude and appreciation for the staff at Penn State University Hershey Medical Center and teaching hospital prompted his wish to donate his remains for research and education.

Fran is survived by his wife of 53 years: Elizabeth Ann (Sola) Brighton, Akron; his children: David and Maria (Brighton) Radwanski, Reading; Steven and Michelle (Brighton) Bosch, Wernersville; Jennifer Brighton, Raleigh, N.C.; Michael and Stephanie (Brighton) Girouard, State College; nine grandchildren: Garrett, Danielle, Nicholas, Arielle, Alexandria, Deva, Diana, Tessa and Keegan; and one great-grandchild: Gannon.

The family will announce a memorial service in the near future.

Donald F. Brooks, 88, New Holland, WWII vet, Baptist minister, enjoyed photography, racquetball

Donald F. Brooks of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at the age of 88.

Don, the son of Myron and Florence Brooks, was raised in Queens, N.Y.

He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He graduated from Providence Bible College, Taylor University and Denver Conservative Baptist Seminary. An American Baptist minister, Don pastored churches in Nebraska and Ohio. Twice he served as the president for Nebraska Ministers Council and was also past president of the Nebraska Baptist Convention. Don enjoyed traveling, hunting, tennis, racquetball, golf, painting, photography, music and having coffee with friends. He was a member of the Westgate Baptist Church in Lancaster.

He is survived by his loving wife: Sharon (Baker) Brooks with whom he shared 49 years of marriage; a daughter: Cheryl (Tony) Ryan; and numerous caring nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, from 2 to 3 p.m., at the Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, followed by his funeral service at 3 p.m., with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family with military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.

Jeanettee B. Cammauf, 91, Ephrata, worked for Dutchmaid, enjoyed sewing and spending time with family

Jeanettee B. Cammauf, 91, of Ephrata, died Nov. 27, 2014 at Chester Valley Nursing and Rehab, Malvern.

She was born Sept. 11, 1923 to Ellis and Louella Burkhart, Bareville.

Jeanettee was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Ephrata. She worked at Dutchmaid, Inc. until its closing in 1981. She also worked at the Hilltop until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing of all kinds and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters: Nancy Zaring, of Houston, Texas; Dolores, married to David Yost, of Cambridge, Idaho; and Anita, married to Paul Messner, of Honey Brook; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son: Douglas Zaring; a grandson: Jason Carnes, son of Anita Messner; and a great-granddaughter: Patty, daughter of Tammy Barrett.

There will be no viewing or funeral service. Arrangements were handed by the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.

Russell S. Eberly, 81, Ephrata, farmer, worked for Agway, Korea vet, Packers fan

Russell S. Eberly, 81, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, at Ephrata Manor.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Jacob and Mabel (Summers) Eberly and was the husband of Salinda Eberly, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Russ was a member of the Hopeland United Methodist Church, Lititz. He worked as an elevator operator for Agway and was also a working farmer. Russ served his country in the US Marines during the Korean War. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan, loved watching country western movies and listening to Johnny Cash.

In addition to his wife, Russ is survived by three sons: Russell W., husband of Jeanne Eberly of Ephrata; Michael, companion of Barb Dickershied of Quarryville; Jacob, fiancé of Kim Ruth of Akron; three daughters: Sally Helman of Blue Bell; Kathleen, wife of Peter Connelly of Willmette, Ill.; Sharon, wife of Marc Gerstein of New York; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Harold Eberly and an infant sister.

A memorial service was held Nov. 29 at Hopeland United Methodist Church, Lititz, with Pastor Russell W. Eberly officiating.

Jean Herr Gehrett, 91, Ephrata native, descendant of Hans Herr, was on faculty of Juniata College

“A gracious, elegant, lovely lady” is how friends describe Jean Herr Gehrett who passed away Nov. 24, 2014 at the age of 91.

Jean was beautiful, competent, intelligent, and witty. With her husband of 67 years, John O. Gehrett, Jean enjoyed living in Hilton Head for 25 years &tstr; first in Long Cove, and most recently at The Cypress.

Jean, raised in Ephrata, was a descendent of the Mentzers, a prominent family in Lancaster County; and of Hans Herr who arrived in The New World in 1708 from Switzerland, settling in Pennsylvania with a charter from William Penn.

Jean graduated with honors from Cornell University, and settled in Huntingdon, with John where she was on the faculty of Juniata College. She excelled at parenting their three daughters, each of whom admired her grace, and her ability to manage life’s ups and downs with a smile while providing loving support. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and it shone through.

Jean was a devoted Christian and served as an Elder in the Providence Presbyterian Church where she worked to strengthen the community and beautify the church. She was a golfer, an avid bridge player, an accomplished cook, and a lifelong bird watcher including chairing the annual Christmas bird count.

Jean and John had a true partnership in their marriage. Those who spent time with them came away inspired to emulate their loving and mutually supportive relationship. For business and philanthropic purposes, they traveled the globe and entertained individuals from around the world. They truly enjoyed life and being together.

Jean is survived by her husband, her daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Bruce Brady, Gretchen Gehrett and Larry Zippin, and Marcia and Paul Puzzanghera; and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Alex and Christy Puzzanghera, and Evan and Morgan Brady.

The family is grateful to Dr. Patricia North whose extraordinary wisdom and caring helped Jean reach 91 years of age. They thank Home Helpers, who provided outstanding service over several years. They are particularly grateful for Zenda Nathan who, with her quiet competence and winning smile, helped care for Jean.

They also wish to thank Hospice of the Low Country for ensuring that the last few weeks of Jean’s life were comfortable, and that she passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.

A memorial service will be held at the Providence Presbyterian Church on Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m.

Dorothy Ann Groff, 92, of Lititz, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Landis Homes.

She was born in Akron to the late Edgar K. and Vera Mae (Stephan) Binkley and was the wife of the late Ralph H. Groff who passed away in 1999.

Dorothy was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church. She graduated from Lancaster General School of Nursing and Millersville University. She was a registered nurse for the Lampeter-Strasburg School District, was a member of Silver Threads, AARP Chapter 530, Iris Club, and she enjoyed playing bridge.

She survived by two stepsons: R. Timothy Groff of Lancaster; and Theodore L. “Ted,” husband of Melody Miller Groff of Willow Street; two sisters: Mary Jane Fassnacht of Lititz and Ruth Goshert of Akron.

Services were held Dec. 2 at Bethany West Chapel, Landis Homes, Lititz, with interment in the Conestoga Memorial Park.

Edwin W. Hainley, 73, Reinholds, died at home Nov. 26, 2014.

Born in West Cocalico Township, a son of the late George E. and Ella B. (Walters) Hainley, his wife, Linda Lou (Redcay) Hainley, died Jan. 6, 2007.

He was a member of Swamp Evangelical Lutheran Church and active for over 50 years with Reinholds Fire Company. A 1959 Cocalico Union High School graduate, he was a carpenter with E. F. Martzall, Reinholds, and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and hunting.

Surviving is his fiancé: Patricia A. (Wenrich) Wenzel, Reinholds; daughters: Sue Ellen (Larry) Knauer, Reinholds; and Jacqueline H. (Roy P.) Hackman, Hopeland; grandchildren: Vanessa and Danielle Knauer; Rochelle, Rachel and Racquel Hackman; step-granddaughters: Amie Shank and Jamie Deamer; great-granddaughter: Raelynn Hendrickson; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

A brother: George W. Hainley, predeceased him.

Services were held Dec. 1 at Swamp Lutheran Church, Reinholds, with Rev. Dennis L. Trout officiating. Burial followed in Swamp Cemetery, Reinholds.

Lois J. McKinney, 84, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in Lititz to the late Harry M. and Elsie (Crouse) Weitzel and was the wife of the late John W. McKinney who passed away in 1978.

Lois attended Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She had worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Shoreson Company, Brownstown. She enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting and making caps for babies.

Lois is survived by a son: Michael, husband of Deb McKinney of Lancaster; four grandchildren: Shannon and Jonathon Bowers, Miranda and Shawn McKinney; two great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Lilyan; a brother: Jeff, husband of Eileen Weitzel of Lewes, Del.; and a sister: Linda Leister of Lititz.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter: Lynn Bowers.

A graveside service took place Nov. 28 in the Rothsville United Zion Cemetery, Warwick Township.

Elaine S. Smith, 79, of Denver, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at her home.

Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Elsie M. (Hahn) Williams Jr. She was the wife of the late John J. Smith Jr.

Elaine worked as a homemaker, taking loving care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by five children: John Smith Jr. of Waco, Texas; Debbie Masucci of Levittown; Cindy Miller of Narvon; Diana Cricks of Ephrata; and Larry Smith of Stevens; a sister, Marjorie Hibble of South Bound Brook, N.J.; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son: Don D. Smith; and a sister: Joan McLaughlin.

Services were held Dec. 6 at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.

Tanya Ann Swartz, 39, of Orwell, Ohio, formerly of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at University Hospital Geauga, Chardon, Ohio.

She was born in Lancaster to Roxanne (Bingner) Swartz and the late John Swartz.

Tanya was a 1992 graduate of Ephrata High School and a graduate of Millersville University with a bachelors degree in biology. She also received her masters degree in human services from Penn State York. She loved her career as a therapeutic support staff and mobile therapist for special needs children. She loved to travel and in the recent past spent time in Germany and Alaska.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a maternal grandmother: Virginia R. Bingner; a sister: Crystal (Bingner) Glassburner; aunts and uncles: Sheridan Bingner, Dixie (Bingner) Kiehl, Jack Ewing, Rose Passaniti, Mike Passaniti; nephew: Sullivan Glassburner; cousins: Kyle Kiehl and Jessica Kiehl Stine.

Services were held Dec. 7 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Dana Statler officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Eugene Zwally, 87, Akron native, owned L.E. Zwally Trucking, enjoyed farming

Eugene Zwally, 87, of Lewisburg, formerly of Akron, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Buffalo Valley Nursing Center, Lewisburg, where he resided for the past two years.

He was born in Akron to the late F. Lester and Florence (Hummer) Zwally and was the husband of Arliss J. (Keith) Zwally.

Eugene was a member of the Akron Church of the Brethren. During his working years, he was part owner of SK Shotzberger Trucking, Lancaster, later owned his own company, L.E. Zwally Trucking of Lititz and after his retirement, he worked for Oliver Sensening Brothers of Reamstown. He loved being with his family, farming, traveling, hunting and being outdoors.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Christine (Tina) Swartz of Milton, Angela Olenick of Henryville; two sons: Scott Zwally of Denver, Ray Zwally of Ephrata; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Michael G. and Dean A. Zwally; and four sisters.

Services were held Dec. 6 at LCBC Church, Manheim Campus, with Pastor David Martino officiating. Interment was in the Middle Creek Brethren Cemetery, Lititz.

Clarence E. Carbaugh, 89, Ephrata, WWII vet, retired Univest banker, coin collector

Clarence E. Carbaugh, 89, of Ephrata, formerly of Souderton, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Fairmount Homes.

He was born in Quakertown to the late Clarence D. and Alice F. (Walp) Carbaugh and was the husband of Arlene (Bleam) Carbaugh with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Clarence was a member of the Pine Grove Mennonite Church. He was in banking for 29 years with Univest of Souderton. He was in the US Army during WWII, serving in Italy for 27 months with the 5th Army. He was a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, and the American Legion in Souderton, and was a board member of Frederick Mennonite Community for seven years. He was interested in coin collecting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Keith C., husband of Penny Carbaugh of Telford; Kevin A., husband of Stephanie Carbaugh of Lancaster; a daughter: Karen D., wife of Michael Scriniere of Souderton; seven grandchildren: Nathan (Annie) Carbaugh, Joel (Jennifer) Carbaugh, Matthew (Michelle) Carbaugh, Jon (Wendy) Gross, Daniel (Jami) Gross, Linsey (Jon) Limm, Mia Carbaugh; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and one great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 12, at 2 p.m., at the Wheat Ridge Chapel at Fairmount Homes, 333 Wheatridge Dr., Ephrata. The family will receive friends following the service. An additional visitation will take place Sunday, Dec. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Pine Grove Mennonite Church, 1194 Reading Road, Bowmansville, followed by his memorial service at 3 p.m.

Karen E. Sakalidis, decorated Air Force vet, was SuperValu administrative assistant

Karen Elizabeth (Dengler) Sakalidis, of West Lawn, passed away at her mother’s home Dec, 3, 2014.

Born in North Miami, Fla., on Jan. 11, 1960, she is the daughter of John R. Dengler Jr. (deceased) and Nancy J. (Williams) Harding of Muhlenberg Twp., and the step-daughter of Calvin E. Harding (deceased).

Karen attended Muhlenberg High School and graduated from Reading High School. Karen joined the U.S. Air Force in 1980, and served her country honorably for 20 years, retiring in 2000 as Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force, she served with the White House Communications Agency, and traveled with President George H.W. Bush. Karen was stationed at the U.S. Embassies in Bulgaria and Macedonia for the last ten years of her military service. She earned numerous medals and awards including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two devices, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with one device, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five devices, National Defense Service Medal, and Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with one device. Karen was also a NCO Professional Military Education graduate. She was most recently employed as an administrative assistant at SuperValu in Denver.

Karen is survived by three brothers: Keven E. Dengler, married to Esther (Vorhees) Dengler of Jacksonville, Fla.; Lawrence P. Dengler, married to Caie Mei (Huang) Dengler of Yulee, Fla.; and Leonard P. Dengler, married to Robin D. (Young) Dengler of Muhlenberg Twp.; a step-brother: Stephen Harding, married to Jennifer of Columbus, Ga.; and a step-sister: Michele Harding, with Tom Fries of Leesport; Karen is also survived by three nieces; four nephews; four grand-nieces; and five grand-nephews.

Services were held Dec. 8 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver. Karen will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap in Annville on Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
