Pauline L. Fritz 91, worked at Hemmerich Industries Inc. and Bollman Hat Co.

Pauline L. Fritz, 91, of Lititz, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz.

Born in Reinholds, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Carrie Leed Loose, and the wife of the late Victor L. Fritz.

Pauline was a member of Swamp Christian Fellowship in Reinholds and was formerly employed by Hemmerich Industries Inc., Denver and Bollman Hat Co., Adamstown.

She is survived by daughters: Barbara, wife of Calvin Seibert, Lititz; Holly Walter, life partner of Stephen Haas, Carlisle; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a sister: Mildred Wenrich, Lancaster. She is preceded in death by her brother: William.

John W. Fox 73, former Ephrata resident

John W. Fox, 73, of Downing, Mo., entered into rest Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo. after a four-month illness.

John was born Feb. 1, 1941, in Ephrata and was the son of Ivan H. and Hettie G. Fox. He was raised in Ephrata and united in marriage to Nora W. Martin on March 19, 1960. Together they shared nearly 54 years of life’s joys and sorrows. Three sons and three daughters were born to this union. In 1974, they and their family moved to Novelty, Mo. Seventeen years later they moved to Scotland County, Mo. and were members of the Indian Creek Mennonite Church near Memphis, Mo.

John is survived by his wife: Nora Fox, of Downing, Mo.; his sons: J. Richard Fox and his wife, Erma, of Memphis, Mo.; Terry Fox and his wife, Karol, of Leon, Iowa; Jay Fox of Memphis, Mo.; his daughters: Linda Parker of Columbia, Missouri; Donna Martin and her husband, Nevin, of Denver and Nora Hoover and her husband, Jason, of Manitoba, Canada. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five brothers: Allen Fox and his wife, Vera, of Memphis, Mo.; Ivan Fox and his wife, Barbara, of East Earl; Lloyd Fox and his wife, Esther, of East Ear; Adam Fox of Hutchinson, Kan.; Luke Fox and his wife, Alta, of East Earl and a sister: Mary Zimmerman and her husband, Chris, of Liberty, Ky.

John was preceded in death by his parents: Ivan and Hettie Fox; two brothers: Paul Fox and Melvin Fox; an infant grandson: Justin Fox and an infant great-granddaughter: Jayla Fox.

Funeral services were held Feb. 17 at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center and at the Indian Creek Mennonite Church. Burial was in the Indian Creek Mennonite Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memphis Funeral Home.

James S. ‘Jamie’ Heston

James S. “Jamie” Heston, 45, of Denver, Colo., passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the home of his parents, James V. and Veronica (Kraft) Heston, in East Cocalico Township, after more than two years dealing with the effects of colon cancer, which he faced with grace and courage.

Born in Wilkes Barre, he was a graduate of the Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Jamie was employed as a mental health counselor at the Third Way Center, Denver, Colo., working with mentally ill, homeless and at-risk youth. Because of his unique ability to establish trust and create therapeutic relationships through the use of sports and outdoor activities, the Third Way Center dedicated their outdoor athletic area to Jamie, when he was no longer able to work, erecting a plaque with the inscription, “The Jamie Heston Sport Court, in recognition of his commitment, passion and influence to at-risk youth.” A member of his baseball, soccer and ski teams in high school, he remained an ardent fan of all sports, but he was especially a lifelong enthusiastic fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Denver Broncos.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters: Mary Cooper (Robert) of Arlington, Va. and Jennifer Fisher (Richard) of Stevensville, Md. He is also survived by nephews: Ned and Quinn Cooper and niece: Katie Fisher. Jamie’s family wishes to thank Hospice and Community Care for the in-home support they provided in his care.

Jacob H. Harnish

Jacob H. Harnish, 85, of Ephrata and formerly of Willow Street, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was married to Mabel I. (Eshleman) Harnish on March 1, 1950.

Born June 9, 1928 in Willow Street, he was the son of the late Jacob T. and Anna Harnish.

Jacob was a longtime member of Rawlinsville Mennonite Church. In his earlier years, Jacob worked for Queen Dairy and retired from SICO Oil Company where he worked for many years. He enjoyed volunteering for the Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Christian Aid Ministries. Jacob enjoyed traveling as well as hosting guests from all over the world.

In addition to his wife of over 63 years, he will be lovingly missed by five children: Marian E., wife of Leroy Sensenig, of Quarryville; Marvin E. Harnish, husband of Marian, of New Holland; Doris J., wife of Ron Lindhurst, of Lancaster; Shirley A., wife of Duayne Keen, of Conestoga and Janet L., wife of M. David Stauffer, of Brushton, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Paul Harnish of Conestoga; Clayton Harnish of Willow Street and a foster sister: Ruth, wife of David Mast of Oley.

Benito Luciano-Cruz

Benito Luciano-Cruz, 83, of Akron, beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and “friend to many” passed on at his home Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 after a long battle of illness.

Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan Luciano and Maria Eugenia Cruz.

He owned a myriad of businesses and retired from Boose Aluminum Foundry in Reamstown.

Benito was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years Rebecca S. (Schlotterer) Luciano and their children: Christopher, Victoria and Rosemary.

In addition, Benito is survived by his children: John, Blanche, Herman, Norma, Margarita, Benino, Tomas and Maria; and their mother: Angela Plaza-Luciano; son: Cory Smith and his siblings: Julio, Ana, Confesor, Gilberto, Myriam and Providencia.

In addition to his parents, Benito was preceded in death by three sisters: Paulina, Aida and Teresa.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Ephrata, Feb. 17. Final commendation and farewell followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.

John Michael Sweeney

John Michael Sweeney, 67, of Ephrata, formerly of New York City, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Blackstock, S.C. to the late Thomas Bradley and Katherine (Mobley) Sweeney and was the husband of Catherine M. (Hurd) Sweeney.

John was the owner and operator of Sweeney & Associates, an architectural firm in New York City. He loved music, playing the guitar and built his own music studio. He also enjoyed motorcycle racing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Chloe Sweeney, wife of Matt McGlade; Sarah Sweeney and Quinn, wife of Tim Cassidy and two granddaughters: Sadie and Lyla.

A viewing will be held Feb. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stradling Funeral Homes, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. Interment will take place Feb.22 in the Hopewell Cemetery, Blackstock, S.C.

Emerson A. Wolf, 93, of Shillington, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Reading Hospital.

He was born in Schoeneck, son of the late Andes and Sallie (Harting) Wolf and was the husband of the late Gertrude L. (Lied) Wolf, who passed away March 7, 2011.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Shillington. He was also a charter and life member of the Brendle-Coleman Post #8795 V.F.W. in Adamstown.

Emerson was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He worked as a supervisor for the Dana Corp. for 33 years. He also worked as a security guard for Boscov’s for 10 years.

He played on several baseball teams in Lancaster County and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.

Emerson is survived by three children: Ronald E., husband of Jeanette Wolf of Tenn.; Roberta, wife of Donald Schaeffer Sr. of Lancaster and Richard E., husband of Karen Wolf of Mohnton; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Rosemary Wolf, a grandson: Keith A. Wolf and a half-brother: Ernest Crouse.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in the Mellinger’s Union Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.

Paul W. Wenger, 74, of New Holland, passed away at Manor Care in Lebanon, after a long illness.

His wife, Sandra J. “Sandy” Wenger, passed away Oct. 30, 2013. They were married in 1961 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage.

Paul was born in Rothsville, son of the late Rufus and Elsie (Wanner) Wenger. He worked as a painter and was employed by the Horst Group for 30 years.

Paul is survived by a daughter: Kelley, wife of Edward Snyder of Washington Boro; three sons: Kevin Wenger and Keith Wenger, both of New Holland and Kent Wenger, fiancé of Jodie Holloway of Denver; one sister: Martha Kirtner of Lancaster; three brothers: Harold Wenger, husband of Cora of Denver; Luke Wenger, husband of Nancy of Ephrata; Melvin Wenger of Lititz and number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 20. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Rike officiating. Place of interment will be Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Rothsville.

Thelma J. Wickenheiser

Thelma J. Wickenheiser, 89, of Ephrata, formerly of Salunga, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at her home.

She was born in Lock Haven, the daughter of Axel and Anna M. (Wren) Johnson.

She was a member of Grace Church in Ephrata.

Thelma graduated from the Methodist Episcopal School of Nursing in 1948 and worked as a register nurse in several different hospitals including the former St. Joseph Hospital and St. Ann’s Home.

She loved to interact with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and was a talented artist.

Thelma is survived by five children: Anthony, husband of Cynthia Wickenheiser of Joppatown, Md.; Jeff V. Wickenheiser of Denver, Colo.; Diane, wife of Mike Andes of Ephrata; Susan, wife of Kim Robertson of Ephrata; Carol, wife of Harry Miller of Fort Worth, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two sisters: Margaret, wife of the late Dr. James Christian and Doris, wife of Robert Herr.

A memorial service was held at Grace Church, Ephrata, Feb. 19 with Pastor Kim Robertson officiating. Interment will take place in the Dunnstown Cemetery in Lock Haven Feb. 20 at 11 a.m.

David M. Dickson 86, WWII vet, retired minister, community volunteer, gardener

David M. Dickson

Rev. David M. Dickson, 86, of Cornwall, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Cornwall Manor.

He was born in Toronto, Canada to the late Dr. John and Josephine (McConnell) Dickson and was the husband of Carol (Edwards) Dickson, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.

David retired in 1993 from the Philadelphia Eastern PA Conference of the United Methodist Church as a minister. He served in Schuylkill, Northampton, Monroe, Montgomery, Lancaster and Chester Counties. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland and Wesley Seminary. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII on the Nantucket Light Ship. David was active in Habitat for Humanity of Lancaster, was a Meals on Wheels and Hospice volunteer. He was a counselor at Camp Innabah and participated in the Appalachian Service Project. He was the son of missionaries and spent time in China, leaving there in the spring of 1941. David was an avid gardener, practicing organic gardening long before it was popular.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Mary, wife of Barry Dissinger of Ephrata; Dianne Dickson, wife of Glenn Danner of Las Vegas, Nev.; David Jr., husband of Barbara Dickson of Myerstown and Dawn Dickson of Lebanon; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a half-sister: Mary Ray, wife of Dr. Marshall Evans of Stewart, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepmother: Rachel Newton Dickson; a brother and three sisters.

A memorial service will take place April 26 at 2 p.m. at the Zerr Chapel, Cornwall Manor.

J. Richard ‘Dick’ Stauffer[/caption]J. Richard “Dick” Stauffer, 92, Lititz, formerly of Rothsville and Ephrata, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Hospice and Community Care.

Born in Rothsville, he was the husband of Eleanor Lillian Gerhard Stauffer, and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Dec. 4. He was the son of the late Earl Y. and Mary C. Weidler Stauffer.

Dick graduated from Warwick Township High School, Rothsville, in 1939 and Drexel Institute of Technology 1944 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He received his Professional Engineers License in 1949 and was a lifetime member of the Professional Engineers Society.

He entered the United States Army Air Corps in January 1944 and was assigned to the Army Air Corps Cadet Engineering School at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut from where he graduated as a Second Lieutenant, September 1944. He was assigned to the Power Plant Laboratory, electrical engineering section at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. In November 1945, he volunteered to serve on detached service at Ladd Field, Fairbanks, Alaska to do electrical engineering on a new cold weather test facility for jet engines. He received an Honorable Discharge in June of 1946.

He was recalled in 1951 as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force to serve in the electrical engineering section of the Power Plant Laboratory at W.P.A.B. where he had previously served in World War II. He was Honorably Discharged after serving 17 months.

He spent three years as an electrical engineer with Philadelphia Electric Company prior to starting his own electrical business. In 1949, he was instrumental in forming Earl Y. Stauffer & Sons, an electrical engineering and construction company in Ephrata, of which he was president. He sold the electrical business in 1984 to Haller Electric.

In 1960, he formed a Real Estate Partnership to build Twin Brook Mobile Home Park on his grandfather’s farm in Rothsville. He was instrumental in the design, engineering of the water system and sewer system and management of the park. The park was sold in 1986.

An active member of First United Methodist Church, Ephrata, he served in many administrator positions including Chairman of the Administrator’s Council and President of the Board of Trustees. In 1957, he helped organize the Boy Scout Troop #73 and was an active troop committee member for many years.

A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Ephrata Lodge #665 Free and Accepted Masons.

His hobbies included golf, birding, walking, riding bike and dancing. He was a member of the Lebanon Country Club and Lake Fairways Country Club in N. Fort Myers, Florida, where they spent 20 winters.

In addition to his wife are two sons: James R., husband of Shirley (Crouse) Stauffer, Lancaster and Richard D., husband of Adele (Michener) Stauffer, Ephrata; a brother: Robert K., husband of Betty Stauffer, Ephrata; four grandchildren: Jocelyn R. Stauffer; Jonathon S., husband of Angela Stauffer; Thomas R., husband of Shannon Stauffer and Julie A. Barna; three great-grandchildren: Kaelyn Stauffer, Mason Stauffer and Ruby Rose Barna. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Scott Stauffer, who died in 1972.

Relatives and friends attended a life celebration memorial service Feb. 24 with the Rev. Walter S. Carter officiating at the Community Room of Luther Acres. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Delores A. Kulp

Delores A. Kulp, 82, of Akron, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Country Meadows of Lancaster.

She was born in Mohnton to the late Samuel and Ruth (Hoyer) Dilts and was the wife of the late Walter S. Kulp Jr., who passed away in 2009.

Delores was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren. She was a graduate of Wernersville High School, Class of 1949. She worked in various factories throughout the area, but much of her life was a homemaker. Delores was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, enjoyed the Phillies and music.

Delores is survived by a son: Gary Lee, husband of Linda Kulp of Ephrata; grandson: Dan, husband of Steph Kulp of Strasburg and two great-grandchildren: Matthew and Hannah.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson: Michael Kulp and a brother: Bruce Dilts.

A funeral was held Feb. 20 at the Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Galen Hackman officiating.

Russell Kendrick Krepp Singer, publisher, former HACC adjunct professor, hospice nurse

Loving husband, devoted father, beloved son and brother entered Glory Dec.12, 2013.

Russell was born in Ephrata, Aug.14, 1973, to the late Richard H. Krepp and Bonnie Emmert Krepp, and was husband to Selena Cortez Krepp.

He was a graduate of Living Word Academy; had been a member of The Worship Center, and on the worship team. He was a gifted singer, and as a teen was involved in amateur theatrics, and worked for a short time at Sight & Sound Theater. He was a founding partner of Red Tide Publishing. He received his RN from HACC, then a BSN. He worked at Philhaven, Brethren Village, and Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community. Russell found a short stint as adjunct professor in the HACC LPN program to be very fulfilling, and was a hospice nurse with Compassionate Care before moving with his family to Conroe, Texas.

In addition to his wife and mother, Russell is survived by three children: Amber K. and Anthony X. Gonzalez, and Haydn Richard Krepp of Conroe, Texas; foster daughter: Marsadee Flowers, USN; and one sister: Lori Jean Krepp Fox, wife of Kyle M. Fox, Lancaster.

Those who loved Russell and want to celebrate his memory are invited to drop in for fellowship at his mother’s home in Ephrata, March 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. Release of the sky lanterns will be at sunset.

Minerva G. Eberly, 84, of Lititz, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at the Audobon Villa, Lititz.

She was born in East Cocalico Township to E.W. and Minnie (Getz) Martin and was the wife of the late Earl Leroy Eberly, who passed away Oct. 14, 2013.

A homemaker, she was a member of the United Zion Church. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing yard work, flower gardening, and attending sales.

Minerva is survived by a son: Ernest, husband of Janet Eberly of Ephrata; a daughter: Sharon, wife of Marvin Martin of Manheim; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister: Dorothy Klopp of Ephrata.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers: Carl, Alfred and Ralph Martin and a sister: Arlene Harting.

A funeral was held Feb. 24 at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Leon Eberly officiating. Interment took place in the Mellingers Union Cemetery.

Joan A. Eifert, 78, Denver, died Wednesday Feb. 19, 2014, in Ephrata Hospital.

Born in Kenhorst, a daughter of the late Emanuel and Florence (Leininger) Eifert, she was a 1953 Mt. Penn High School graduate. A former member of Spies Lutheran Church, she worked for CNA Insurance, Reading, and was an antique dealer specializing in fancy glass. Joan enjoyed quilting and knitting and cherished her Scottie dogs.

Surviving is a sister: Linda G. Weiss, Wernersville; nieces and nephews and her Scottish Terrier: “Buddy.” A sister, Evelyn Lang, and longtime friend and companion, Kenneth K. Bingaman, predeceased her.

Pauline Elizabeth Ruhl

Pauline Elizabeth Ruhl, 91, formerly of Lititz, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Conestoga View.

She was born in New Holland to the late Daniel and Lillian (Wingenroth) Snader and was the wife of the late Raymond H. Ruhl who passed away in 1983.

Pauline was a charter member of the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz, where she was a deaconess and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a former leader of the Sisterhood of Mary and Martha girls program (SMM). She enjoyed crocheting and singing, and was a caregiver to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members. She had worked in quality control at RCA for over 37 years.

She is survived by two sons: Robert Lee, husband of Peggy M. (Frey) Ruhl of Lititz; Larry E., husband of Linda (Troupe) Ruhl of Ephrata; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers: James, husband of Lillie Snader of Brickerville and Samuel Snader of Hopeland; five sisters: Miriam Kemp of Manheim, Annabelle Bedi of Manheim, Lois Eaby of Ephrata, Lillian Wiegand of Lititz and Gloria Nauman of Ephrata and a daughter-in-law: Alice Ruhl Gibble of Manheim.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Jay and Richard Ruhl and four sisters: Esther Baer, Josephine Sprecher, Florence Alexander and Doris Groff.

A viewing will be held Feb. 28 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz, 400 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastors William Willard and Samuel Baer officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arlene L. Nodeen

Arlene L. Nodeen, 82, of Clay Township, Ephrata, passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by loved ones Monday, Feb. 17, 2014.

She was the loving wife of William Nodeen with whom she shared 60 years of marriage, and the devoted mother of Thomas, husband of Janey, of Fairfax Station, Va. and Susan, wife of Robert Farr, of Ardmore.

Arlene was also the adoring grandmother of Melissa Farr, wife of Jim Groff, of Lancaster; Michael Farr, husband of Courtney, of East Petersburg and Wade Price IV of Fairfax Station, Va.

Also surviving are her sister, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Born in Harvey, Ill., Arlene was the daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle Ryd. She resided in Illinois for 58 years where she raised her family and worked for many years as the secretary of her church and at several industrial firms before retiring to Lancaster County.

Arlene enjoyed doing craftwork and exploring her interest in genealogy as well as her Swedish heritage.

A lifelong member of the Lutheran church, her faith provided her with a constant strength throughout her life.

Arlene loved her family deeply, and her dedication to them exemplified the truest meaning of unconditional love.

Funeral services were held Feb. 22 at Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stevens.

Jerry Alan Lowe

Jerry Alan Lowe, 56, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at his residence.

He was born in Lancaster to the late Anna Catherine (Maloy) Lowe and Chester Lowe of Cape Coral, Fla., and was the husband of JoAnn (Angeli) Lowe.

Jerry worked as a foreman for Brubaker Industries. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Jerry enjoyed working and training dogs for military and police use, riding his motorcycle and loved the beach.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a son: Jared Lowe and two grandchildren of Lititz; two stepdaughters: Aleasha Ann Buckwalter of Ephrata and Nicole Faith Buckwalter; two grandchildren: Cayden Ray and Lane Carl of Ephrata; a brother: Gary Lowe of East Petersburg and a sister: Terry, wife of Matthew Bonelli of Miami, Fla.

A funeral was held Feb. 24 at the Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Calvin Wenger officiating. Military honors accorded by the Red Rose Honor Guard took place at 7 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Lucille K. Simmons

Lucille K. Simmons, 90, of Ephrata, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at Fairmount Homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lester H. Simmons, in 1996.

Born in Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Barton Sylvester and Gertrude (Weaver) Stover.

She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Bible Church.

She was an avid crocheter, crocheting many lap robes for Ephrata Hospital. She also enjoyed Search A Word and jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are three children: Joyce E. Hoffman, Akron; Dale L., married to Pat Simmons, Ephrata; Stephen R., married to Linda Simmons, Gordonville; four grandsons: Jason and Geoffrey Simmons and Timothy A. and Thomas A. Hoffman; five great-grandchildren: Brittany, Madison and Mackenzie Simmons and Zachary T. and Keira L. Hoffman and two brothers: Leonard S. Stover, Quarryville and Jay D. Stover, New Holland.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: Evelyn Stone, Dorothy Stover, Gerald Stover and Alfred Stover.

Her funeral will be held Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor Norman Greiss officiating. Interment in Zeltenreich Cemetery. Chester M. Sweigart, Sr.

Chester M. Sweigart, Sr., 80, of Denver, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in West Cocalico Twp., the son of the late Fred S. and Sadie M. (Mentzer) Sweigart and was the husband of Vera L. (Landis) Sweigart, whom he married June 28, 1958.

Chester enjoyed attending auctions, and sales at the New Holland Sales Stables. He also enjoyed singing country music, woodworking, fishing, watching western movies on television, and spending time with his family.

He retired after 21 years of service as a custodian for Cocalico High School. Prior to this he was employed as an equipment operator for PennDot.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Connie A. Sweigart, companion of Catalina Eberly of Denver; Chester M. Sweigart Jr. of Lancaster; Ricky L. Sweigart of Reamstown; Barry L. Sweigart of Denver; Tammy A., wife of Richard Stief of Ephrata and Tina A., wife of Kevin Bear of Ephrata; seven grandchildren: Melissa A., wife of Brad Amsbaugh of Denver; Debra A., wife of Josh Absher of the Poconos; Stephanie A. and Stacey A. Stief, both of Ephrata, Brittney A. and Chelsea A. Bear, both of Ephrata, and Kevin M. Bear II of Ephrata; three great-grandchildren: Travis L. Amsbaugh of Denver, Destiny A. and Jayden C. Absher, both of the Poconos; and a sister: Viola, wife of the late Roy Noll of Kleinfeltersville. He is also survived by a very close family friend, Johnny Reider.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Debra A. Sweigart; three brothers: Lloyd, Fred and Harold Sweigart and a sister: Emma Hoffman.

Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
