Betty Dull

Betty J. Dull, 62, of Ephrata was surrounded by her family when she passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

Formerly of Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Arlene Shafer Snyder. The wife of Lester Dull, they shared over 40 years together.

A former supervisor at Four Seasons in Ephrata, Betty was a supportive and caring mother and homemaker. Always taking care of others, she was a great cook and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the slot machines at Hollywood Casino and putting together puzzles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: Jamie Snyder, husband of Lori, Ephrata; Christopher Worley, husband of Jennifer, Denver; daughters: Kristal, wife of David Wissler, New Holland; Lisa J. Lopez, Ephrata; seven grandchildren: Kien and Alex Lopez, Jared and Brady Snyder, Emma Wissler, Connor and Joshua Worley; four sisters and a brother.

Family and friends attended a funeral at the Richard H. Heisey Funeral Home on Nov. 29. Burial was in the Brunnerville U.M. Cemetery.

Joseph Rick

Joseph D. “Joe” Rick, 61, of Manheim, formerly of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at his residence.

He was the husband of Karen L. (Shilobod) Rick and companion of Christine Whitsel.

Joe is also survived by three sons: Joseph D. Rick II, husband of Angela L. Rick, of Lancaster; Andrew V. Rick, husband of Maria L. Rick, of Berwyn and Christopher J. Rick of Manheim; eight grandchildren: Justin, Joseph, Zachary, Anthony, Andrew, Tyler, Joshua, Julia, and Isabella; five brothers and seven sisters.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Charles A. and Irene N. (LeGay) Rick; three brothers and one sister.

Joe was born in Pottstown and was a 1971 graduate of Sun Valley High School in Aston. He was an active member of A.A. in Lancaster County and owned and operated Fab-Rick Industries in Ephrata.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 167 E. Main St., Ephrata, Dec. 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Henry E. Herbener officiating. Friends will be received before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Place of interment will be Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.

Rosalina Serrano

Rosalina “Rose” Serrano, 71, of Ephrata, passed away, peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.

Rosalina was married to Melanio “Mel” Serrano, with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage on Oct. 16, 2013.

Rose was a stay-at-home mom, who later went on to work at the Ephrata Shoe Company and the Inns at Donecker’s in Ephrata.

Rosalina was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Yolanda, wife of Jeffrey Diem and Cynthia, wife of Richard Potts, both of Ephrata; three grandchildren: Danielle, Alex, and Brian; four brothers and one step-sister.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

Friends attended funeral services at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, Dec. 2 with the Reverend Timothy L. Craven officiating.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Dorothy Shober

Dorothy G. Shober, 93, formerly of Denver, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Ephrata Manor, Ephrata Township.

Born in Denver, a daughter of the late Wesley L. and Anna (Rutt) Gensemer, her husband, Roy L. Shober, died April 3, 1983. A 1938 Denver High School graduate, Dorothy was a member of High Point Baptist Church, Geigertown. She was the co-owner and operator of Shober & Sons Meats, Inc., Denver, for 40 years. A longtime volunteer at The Ephrata Cloister, she was honored as volunteer of the year by the Pennsylvania Historical Commission. Dorothy also enjoyed playing piano and singing.

Surviving are her children: Thomas G. and Patrick G. (Sharon Goshert) Shober, both of Denver and Susan G. Shober, Adamstown; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister: Hazel Hornberger and a brother: Richard Gensemer, both of Ephrata. Sisters, Kathleen Rathman and Luetta Graybill, predeceased her.

Funeral services were held Dec. 4 at Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown. The Rev. Stephen E. Hollinger will officiate with burial to following in Lincoln Cemetery, Ephrata.

Rosalie Yeakel

Rosalie F. “Rosie” Yeakel, 68, of Lincoln-Ephrata, passed away at Manor Care in Sinking Spring, Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 after a short illness.

She was the wife of Chester L. Yeakel and daughter of the late William and Sadie (Hertzog) Sensenig.

Rosie was born in Lincoln and was a lifetime resident of the Lincoln-Ephrata area. She was a 1963 graduate of Ephrata High School and was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church of Ephrata and the Lincoln Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

For 36 years, Rosie worked at Tyson Foods in New Holland and most recently was a cashier at Martin’s Country Market in Ephrata for almost 20 years.

Rosie will be missed by her family and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Chester, Rosie is survived by three children: Julia R., wife of Jay Wanner, of Lincoln; Jay R. Dull, husband of Sharon (Wanner) Dull, of Lincoln and Joleen R. Dull, fiancé of Michael Schwietzer, of Ephrata; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother: Roy E. Zimmerman, husband of Kathryn (Ober) Zimmerman, of Lititz.

Memorial services were held Nov. 29 at the Bible Fellowship Church of Ephrata with The Reverend Ralph Soper officiating. Interment is private at the convenience of the family.

Lorraine H. Fichthorn, 85, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at Brethren Village. She was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her stepdaughters: Cynthia A., married to Marvin Oxenreider, lives in Ephrata and E. Jane, married to Craig Leid, lives in Denver.

Kathleen H. Hollinger, 76, formerly of New Holland, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at Masonic Village. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrie N. Hollinger, in 1995. Her son, Ronald, married to Kim Hollinger, lives in Ephrata.

John H. Meck, 53, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Local survivors include three sisters: Charlotte DiCola of Lititz and Mary Sue Wiley and Dorothy Meck, both of Ephrata.

John Abel Stoltzfus, 74, of New Holland, passed peacefully at Mount Joy Hospice Center Sunday, Nov. 29, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria (Williams) Stoltzfus, with whom he had many adventures. His sister, Ann Stoltzfus, lives in Ephrata.

Mary Ann Quagliata, 66, loved music and travel

Mary Ann Quagliata, 66, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

She was born in Jamaica Queens, N.Y., to the late Emil and Etta Piwowarski and was the wife of Anthony Quagliata, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.

During her working years, Mary Ann worked in retail.

In addition to her husband, Mary Ann is survived by a son: Carlo, husband of Julie Quagliata of Lititz; a daughter: Antoinette Quagliata of Ephrata; two grandchildren: Anthony and Connie Quagliata; a brother: Anthony Piwowarski; and two sisters: Theresa Farrell and Dorothy Ennis.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph, Emil and Steven Piwowarski; and a sister: Helen Snow.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 9 at the Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata, with Father John McLoughlin, CSSR officiating. Marguerite Sauder, 95, Sauder Eggs co-founder

Marguerite S. Sauder, 95, of Lititz, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Landis Homes.

She was born in Clay Township to the late Evan and Barbara (Bollinger) Stauffer and was the wife of Raymond W. Sauder who passed away Feb. 4, 1993. The couple had been married 52 years.

Marguerite was a member of Hess Mennonite Church, now Crossroads Community Fellowship, Lititz. She worked alongside her husband as they founded and operated R.W. Sauder, Inc., (Sauder Eggs). She actively supported local ministries, especially Black Rock Camp, Partners in Evangelism and Prison Ministries. Marguerite loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who fondly called her “GG”. She enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren and loved flower gardening. She was well known for hosting guests and preparing delicious dinners. In later years, she enjoyed playing games, especially marbles.

Marguerite is survived by four sons: R. Clair, husband of Doris of Lancaster, Glenn E., husband of Joyce of Leola, James N., husband of Wendy Whaley of Goshen, Vt., Paul D., husband of Cindy of Hershey; seven grandchildren: Matthew Sauder, Mary (Sauder) Rockey, Mark Sauder, Kendra (Sauder) Albert, Amy (Sauder) Lehman, Jayme Sauder, Ryan Sauder; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother: Willard, husband of Nora Stauffer of New Holland.

Services were held Dec. 11 at West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, Lititz, with Rev. Glenn Sell officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Kathryn ‘Betty’ Schonour, Cinderella, EASD worker

Kathryn E. “Betty” Schonour, 73, of Ephrata, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at 2:04 p.m. at Hospice in Mount Joy following a six-year battle with colon cancer.

Born in Warwick Township, a daughter of the late Christian S. and Kathryn S. (Kreiter) Franck, she was the wife of George A. Schonour for 49 years.

Betty worked at Cinderella Knitting Mill and last for Ephrata Area School District. She was a member of Ephrata Community Auxiliary and enjoyed bingo, crocheting and word search puzzles.

Also surviving is a daughter: Lorrie A. Schonour, Lititz; a sister: Doris Jean Keith, Ephrata; and brothers: Donald K. (Renie Zoll) Franck, Stevens; and Carl K. (Louetta Gring) Franck, Denver.

Her brothers: Richard and James, predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with Chaplain Glenn A. Beard, Jr. officiating. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown. A viewing will be held the previous evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and immediately prior to the service Thursday.

Verna V. Hufford, 96, of Lititz, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at Luther Care.

Born in Brownstown, she was the daughter of the late Bertha and Christian Harnish and was the wife of the late Clarence E. Hufford who died in 2011.

Verna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Akron, where she was a choir member for many years. She was also a member of Akron Women’s Club, Ladies Fireman’s Auxiliary and was employed many years by Terry Manufacturing. Verna was a 1935 graduate of the former West Earl High School.

Verna is survived by her daughters: Dawn White, Lititz, and Janet E. wife of Barry C. Burkholder, Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren: Wendy White wife of Ted Schmid, Randy White and wife Lynda, J. Tobin White, Joy Nyctea, Abby Burkholder wife of Jon Epstein, Amy Burkholder, Jenny Burkholder wife of John Flak; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister: Christabelle Weidler, Palmyra; and two brothers: John and James Harnish both of Myerstown.

Mark A. Hess, 52, of Ephrata passed away at his residence on Dec. 7, 2013.

Formerly of Lititz, he is the son of Helen Smith Hess of Lititz and the late Kenneth G. Hess.

An avid hiker, Mark enjoyed fishing and spending time outside. He was employed by R.W. Sauder, Ephrata, and was known to be easy going and happy. He was always making those around him smile.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son: Chas Hess, Leola; brothers: Jeffrey Hess, Lititz, Benjamin Hess, Ephrata, Steven Hess, Lititz, Robert Allen Hess, Denver; sisters: Christine Harp, Tenn.; and Ann McMullen, Tenn.

He is preceded in death by his father and brothers: Kenneth W. (Wayne) Hess and Paul Hess.

Mildred W. Nolt High, 90, of Ephrata, formerly of Bowmansville and New Holland, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 of natural causes at Fairmount Homes.

Born in Blue Ball, she was the daughter of the late David G. and Lizzie M. (Witmer) Horst. Her first husband, Paul M. Nolt, died in 1995 after 55 years of marriage, and her second husband, Henry H. High, died in 2005 after eight years of marriage.

Mildred worked for 15 years at the former Victor F. Weaver, Inc. in New Holland and she hosted overnight tour guests in her home for several years. She was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church.

Surviving are two daughters: Pauline H., married to Lloyd W. Weaver of New Holland, and M. Jane, married to Wilbur M. McMichael of Lancaster; two sons: Philip E., married to Margaret Nolt, of New Holland, and Steven J., married to Sharon Nolt, of New Holland; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Minerva W., married to Mervin S. Horst of New Holland, and Arlene, married to Paul G. Reiff of Leola; a daughter-in-law: Shirley A. Nolt of Paradise; and a stepdaughter: Ruth Ann, married to Harold Eberly of East Earl.

Preceding her in death is a stillborn daughter; a son: David L. Nolt; a great-granddaughter: Jenna Sauder; a sister: Florence Stauffer; and a brother: Marvin Horst.

Services were held Dec. 10 at Groffdale Mennonite Church, Leola, with the Reverend Tom Eshleman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Groffdale Mennonite Church, address above.

Stanford F. Cox, 87, died suddenly at his home in Lancaster, on Nov. 29, 2013. Stan was a WWII vet. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member and past master of Ephrata Lodge 665, F & AM, and a member of the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and the Reading Lodge of Consistory.

Edith M. “Sis” Getz, 95, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon. A seamstress, she had worked at the Miller-Hess Shoe Co., Akron, and at the former Dutch Maid, New Holland. Her sister, Phyllis Kveragas, resides in Ephrata.

Jay Earl Nauman, 88, of East Petersburg, passed into eternal rest Dec. 4, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was a WWII vet. and long-time member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim. He was a member of the East Petersburg Historical Society, and a former member of the East Petersburg Lions Club and the East Petersburg Fire Company. His brother, Wilbur (husband of Gloria) lives in Ephrata.

Julia N. Shirk, 90, of Oatfield Drive, Denver, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Ephrata Manor following a brief illness.

Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Mate (Clime) Newpher.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Terre Hill, and of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lititz. A graduate of Terre Hill High School and a former school teacher, she later worked at Cinderella Knitting Mills. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Penn State Football and golf.

Surviving are her children: Alice A. Palmer of York and John W. Shirk of Perryville, Md.; four grandchildren: Jennifer Hoffman, Heather Weaver, Kathryn Zwally and Hallie Palmer; and five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Madison, Ashlyn, Bradyn and Kellon. Also surviving are her sisters: Allegra Ansel and Elsie Weinhold, both of Terre Hill; and a brother; Harold Newpher of Carson City, Nev.

She was preceded in death by her husband: William Blaine Shirk, in 1996; her brothers: Woodrow and James Newpher; and sister: Pat Parmer.

Services were held Dec. 11 at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, with the Rev. Dennis Trout officiating. Interment will be in the Terre Hill Cemetery.

Pauline W. Martin, 86, of Mast Road, Narvon, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at her home after a brief illness.

Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Henry M. and Lucy (Weber) Martin. Her husband, Chester M. Martin, died Dec. 28, 2008.

Pauline was a homemaker and a member of the Honey Brook Mennonite Church.

Surviving is a daughter: Fern M., married to LeRoy Allgyer, Jr. of Whittington, IL; five sons: Ralph M., married to Naomi (Groff) Martin of Narvon, Joel M., married to Martha (Huyard) Martin of New Holland, Shelly M. Martin at home, Grant M., married to Judy (Nolt) Martin of Newville, and Bruce M., married to Bonita (Snyder) Martin of Narvon; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five brothers: Andrew W., married to Dorothy (Shirk) Martin of Reinholds, Rufus W., married to Mary (Nolt) Martin of Lititz, Henry W., married to Barbara (Mitchell) Martin of Reinholds, Warren W., married to Anna (Hahn) Martin of Reinholds, and John W., married to Mabel (Martin) Martin of Ephrata; and a sister, Elizabeth, married to Titus Martin of Stevens.

Preceding her in death are three grandchildren: Joy M. Allgyer, Paul M. Allgyer, and Sheldon W. Martin; and four sisters: Lucy W. Eberly, Beatrice W. Martin Good, Anna W. Good and Esther W. Martin.

Services were held Dec. 9 at the Honey Brook Mennonite Church, with the Bishops Harold Good and Wilmer Weaver, and Ministers Elmer Martin, Mark Hostetter, and Duane Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.

Beloved John ‘Jack’ D. Grant, DDS, dies at 92

John “Jack” Douglas Grant, 92, of Lititz, formerly of Stevens, died Monday, Dec. 2, surrounded by his family at the Mount Joy Hospice Center.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy Evans Grant, celebrating their 65th anniversary this past year.

Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late William T. and Mabel (Yates) Grant. Jack graduated from Madison High School, N.J., where he lettered in track and field. A veteran of World War II, Jack served as a sergeant in the Marine Corp for three years and was wounded in the Pacific, receiving a Purple Heart. He attended Lebanon Valley College, Gettysburg College and graduated from Temple Dental School, where he met his wife Nancy.

Jack was a dentist in the Ephrata area for 54 years, fully retiring in his 84th year. A life member of the Lancaster County Dental Society, he received the Herbert K. Cooper Dental Achievement Award for distinguished service and dedication to the dental profession and community in 2008.

A community leader, Jack served as the first President of the Clay School PTA. He was also an Ephrata Cub Scout Leader; and on the Ephrata School Board, Ephrata Recreation Board of Directors, a member of the American Legion and VFW, and president of the Ephrata Swim Team Parents’ Club. Jack was honored as a recipient of the Junior Chamber of Commerce for Outstanding Citizenship in 1954. Jack was also a member of the Ephrata Blue Lodge #665 F.&A.M. and the Rajah Temple.

Jack’s family always came first: his daughters, their spouses and grandchildren. An avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, his interests included ice hockey, downhill skiing, golf, racquetball, woodworking and dancing with Nancy. A member of the Hershey Hunting Camp, Jack loved the out-of-doors and the camaraderie of his buddies.

Surviving are five daughters: Nancy G., wife of Dr. Glenn L. Wenger of Chester Springs; Diane M. Grant, wife of Gene D. Groeschel of Leola; Jill E. Grant of Lancaster; Susan A. Wert of Dallastown and Heather Y., wife of Todd Lindsley of Lancaster; six grandsons.; two granddaughters; one great-grandson and his faithful dog Scarlet. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister Jean, and grandson Aaron J. Shrom.

A visitation will be held Dec. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. A memorial service will be held Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at the West Bethany Chapel of Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, with Chaplain Donna Shenk. Gerald E. Tobias

Gerald E. Tobias, 84, of Denver, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy.

He was born in Reading, son of the late Edwin and Ruth (McCallicher) Tobias and was the husband of Barbara (Fausnacht) Tobias for 32 years.

Gerald was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Bollman Hat Factory after 20 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and listening to big band music.

In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by five children: Tess, wife of Bob Shank of Denver; Bev Ansley of Akron; Barry Kurtz of Hawaii; Brian Tobias of Adamstown and Staci Tobias of Denver; a brother: Richard, husband of Virginia Tobias of Adamstown; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Stephanie Ruth, and a grandchild: Joseph Ansley.

A viewing will be held Dec. 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor William Hoch officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Anna Mae (Gross) Voth

Anna Mae (Gross) Voth died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at the age of 96.

She was born Feb. 2, 1917 to the late Laura (Bishop) and Melvin Gross. She was raised in Buck County and graduated from Doylestown High School in 1935. Following her graduation, she held the position of Deputy Register of Wills. She moved to Akron to work at the Mennonite Central Committee and it was there that she met Arthur Voth. They were married Jan. 2, 1949. They were the parents of three daughters: Susan and twins Cynthia (Cindy) and Sandra (Sandy).

Anna Mae is preceded in death by her husband: Art and two children: Susan and Cindy. Anna Mae had a brother and two sisters who also preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter: Sandy, married to Phil Horst; two grandsons: Matthew, married to Betsy and Peter, husband of Angelina. She had one great grandchild: Judah Solomon Horst.

A long-time resident of Akron, Anna Mae and Art moved to Landis Homes in 1995, where she resided until her death.

In her younger years, Anna Mae liked to tend her flower garden, knit and bake. She was known for making ice cream roll for thank-you gifts, birthdays and many other occasions. She played piano and loved music. She and Art volunteered at Fairmount Nursing Home, Landis Homes and Meals on Wheels. Most of all, she enjoyed being involved in the lives of her family, particularly her grandsons. She was a long-time member of the Akron Mennonite Church.

The family would like to thank everyone in Manheim House for their tender care of Anna Mae, particularly over the last months of her life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Caring Fund at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543.

A private burial is planned. Family and friends are invited to join in a memorial service at Landis Homes, East Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Clyde Wingenroth, retired truck driver, cabinet maker

Clyde E. Wingenroth, 89, of Stevens, and formerly of Reinholds, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Ruth (Showalter) Wingenroth, who passed away Nov. 25, 1995.

Born in Earl Township, Clyde was a son of the late Ervin L. and Estella (Leicy) Wingenroth. He worked for Reinholds Lumber Supply Company for 35 years as a truck driver and cabinet maker until his retirement in 1989.

Clyde was a member of Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schoeneck where he had been a church council member and usher. For 20 years, he was caretaker of Mellingers Cemetery in Schoeneck and its secretary for 27 years.

Clyde is survived by five children: Evelyn, wife of Robert Shade of Denver; Martha, wife of Gerald Petery of Denver; Melvin Wingenroth, husband of Vicky, of Fleetwood; Howard Wingenroth, husband of Geraldine, of Reading and Allen Wingenroth, husband of Cindy, of Gap; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a half-brother: Ralph Wingenroth of Stevens and a step-sister: Pauline Hess of Lancaster.

In addition to his wife and parents, Clyde was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Wingenroth.

Friends were received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, Dec. 15 and funeral services were at Mellingers Lutheran Church, Stevens, on Dec. 16. with the Reverend Timothy L. Craven officiating. Place of interment was in Mellingers Cemetery.

Glen J. Yoder

Glen J. Yoder, 65, of Mountville, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ellen (Mast) Yoder. Born in Goshen, Ind., he was the son of the late Henry and Irene (Thomas) Yoder.

Glen graduated from Cincinnati Bible College and spent his career as an ordained minister in Cincinnati, Ohio; Birmingham, Ala. and Lancaster County. His ministry included pastoring and overseeing churches, as well as coaching and training church leaders both locally and internationally. He currently served as the Pastor of Oasis Fellowship in Akron. His life focus was to help people realize and live out their potential to positively influence the world.

Over the years, Glen enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and exploring international cultures and foods. He was a passionate fan of Alabama football and the Cincinnati Reds. Glen was a visionary committed to lifelong learning.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children: Matt Yoder and his wife Margo of Atlanta, Ga.; Jen Ames and her husband Craig of Chiang Rai, Thailand and Jonathan Yoder of Mountville; six grandchildren: Anna Yoder, Jill Yoder, Samuel Ames, Micah Yoder, Grace Ames and Heidi Yoder; and three brothers: Alvin Yoder of Pigeon, Mich.; David Yoder of Hartselle, Ala. and James Yoder of Pantego, N.C. In addition to his parents, his brother, Verlin Yoder of Atmore, Ala., preceded him in death.

A funeral service was held at Newport Dove Church, Elm, on Dec. 6. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
