Nancy Lee Garvin, of Stafford, Va., departed this life peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2014. She was 101 years old and lived most of her life in Ephrata.
Nancy was born March 9, 1913 in Philadelphia.
While in Ephrata, she was a devoted member of Coleman Memorial Chapel in Lititz. She had a successful career as an Army nurse serving in South Korea, Germany, France and several stations in the U.S, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1969. Nancy is extremely proud to have had a career dedicated to caring for American soldiers.
She is survived by three nephews: George Lotwick (Susie) of Orlando, Fla.; John Garvin (Janice) of Stafford, Va.; and Rodney Garvin (Rebecca) of Terre Haute, Ind.; and a niece: Sallie Garvin, of Indianapolis, Ind.; as well as a multitude of relatives and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents: John and Leonore Garvin; her brother: John Garvin; and her sister: Charlotte Lotwick.
She was a devoted daughter, beloved aunt, cherished friend, and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Per her wishes, Nancy will be laid to rest in George Washington Memorial Cemetery, Whitemarsh, Pa., at a later date. Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, handled the arrangements.
