Janet L. Herr, 84, of Brethren Village, Lancaster, passed away May 27. Janet retired from Lancaster General Hospital. She was a former volunteer of Manheim Twp. Ambulance Association. Janet enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and going to Rehoboth Beach, Del. A sister, Phoebe and niece, Gail Witwer, live in Ephrata.
Robert L. Leaman, 83, of Willow Street passed away June 8 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He was employed for over 40 years with Safe Harbor Water Power Corp. where he retired from in 1991 as the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor. Bob attended Calvary Church, Lancaster for over 60 years, where he enjoyed volunteering and helping others. His daughter, Christine E., wife of Gregory Waidley, lives in Ephrata.
Richard Bowers Smith, 89, of Landisville, “assumed room temperature” (as he often said) on June 8 at a daughter’s home after a brief illness. A track star at McCaskey High School (Class of 1942), he enjoyed participating in and watching sports. He won dozens of medals in the Lancaster County Senior Games during the past decade and regretted that his illness prevented his entry in this year’s competition. His daughter, Suzanne Lausch (wife of David), lives in Akron.
Frederick C. Woerner, 86, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 3 Lancaster General Hospital. He worked for Eshelman’s Feed Mill from 1945 to 1974. He then worked as a custodian for the Penn Manor School District for 16 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a talented furniture refinisher who could make anything look like new. A daughter-in-law, Brucetta Beatty, lives in Akron;
