Henry S. Bowman, 94, of 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, died March 25, 2014 at Landis Homes. Henry was a poultry farmer and a member of ErismanMennoniteChurch. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed music. His daughter, Linda, married to Robert Zimmerman, lives in Stevens.
Elmer K. Fisher, Sr., 81, Strasburg, passed away at his home March 24. Elmer was a retired farmer and a member of the OldOrderAmishChurch. He had 100 great-grand children. His daughter, Katie L., wife of Ben S. King, lives in Ephrata.
Rev. Mark A. Heiney, 85, of Marietta, formerly of Leola, went to his Father in Heaven March 25. He served locally as minister at ZionLutheranChurch, Marietta; and ZionLutheranChurch, Leola. He loved PennState sports, and he and his wife served as greeters for nine years at the Kentucky Derby. His daughter, Pamela F. Scott (wife of Terry Houck), lives in Ephrata.
Catherine T. Knauf, 95, died March 29, in Marlton, N.J. Her son, Charles F. Knauf Jr. (husband of Peggy), resides in Ephrata.
Elizabeth M. Martin, 86, New Holland, died March 25 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was a homemaker and a member of the NewHollandOldOrderMennoniteChurch. Her daughter, Anna Mae, married to Ammon Shirk, and son, Luke, married to Etta (Nolt) Martin, live in Ephrata.
Dorothy M. “Dottie” (Maretta) Petrovey, 73, of Lancaster, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Hamilton Arms. An avid reader, Dottie was employed as an assembler by Schott Brothers for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the former Ephrata Church of Christ.
Mary L. Smith, 86, of Columbia, died March 26. Mary was an active and devout member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia. Mary was friendly to everyone she met, her loving advice to all she met was: “Always be kind, love is all that matters.” Her son, Edward J. Jr., husband of Katie Smith, resides in Ephrata, and a sister, Rose Marie, wife of James Bradley, lives in Stevens.
Carol Ann Tibbins, 61, of New Holland, died unexpectedly March 24, 2014 at her home. As a dog lover, she served as a compassionate advocate for foster dogs along with caring for her own three. She also enjoyed her card club and going out to eat with the ladies. Her son, William Robb, married to Heather (Spacht) Tibbins, resides in Ephrata.
Marian J. Unangst, 71, of Lititz, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care, Mt.Joy. Marian worked for 40 years at Dart Container in Leola, retiring in 2009. A sister, Peg, wife of Chet Clark, resides in Terre Hill. A sister, Ruth, wife of Merle Moyer, lives in Akron. A sister, Millie Zimmerman, lives in Ephrata. A sister Edna, spouse of Joe Rise, resides in Brownstown.
