Herbert W. Gelsinger, 87, of Reinholds, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at EphrataCommunityHospital.
He was born in Vinemont, son to the late Harry and Carrie Gelsinger and step-mother, the late Bessie Gelsinger, and was the husband of Margaret M. (Moyer) Gelsinger, with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on May 21.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of the Reinholds VFW. He enjoyed woodworking and flowers and especially loved his cats. Earlier in his career Herbert worked for Rosenau Apparel. He retired a carpenter for Flying Hills construction and afterwards worked for King Quality Foods.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Brian L., husband of Grelita Gelsinger of Surprise, Ariz.; a daughter: Beverly A., wife of Dennis Zimmerman of Sabinsville, Pa.; a grandson: Gregory L. Gelsinger; a great-grandson: Zachary; and two sisters: Arlene Ansel and Kathrine Kopp.
In addition to his parents and step-mother, he is preceded in death by a grandson: Craig Geibel; four brothers: Lester, Leroy, Frank and Robert Gelsinger; and a sister: Ruth Bohn.
Services were held April 1 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment took place in the PleasantViewCemetery.
