Jacob H. Harnish

Jacob H. Harnish, 85, of Ephrata and formerly of Willow Street, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was married to Mabel I. (Eshleman) Harnish on March 1, 1950.

Born June 9, 1928 in Willow Street, he was the son of the late Jacob T. and Anna Harnish.

Jacob was a longtime member of Rawlinsville Mennonite Church. In his earlier years, Jacob worked for Queen Dairy and retired from SICO Oil Company where he worked for many years. He enjoyed volunteering for the Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Christian Aid Ministries. Jacob enjoyed traveling as well as hosting guests from all over the world.

In addition to his wife of over 63 years, he will be lovingly missed by five children: Marian E., wife of Leroy Sensenig, of Quarryville; Marvin E. Harnish, husband of Marian, of New Holland; Doris J., wife of Ron Lindhurst, of Lancaster; Shirley A., wife of Duayne Keen, of Conestoga and Janet L., wife of M. David Stauffer, of Brushton, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Paul Harnish of Conestoga; Clayton Harnish of Willow Street and a foster sister: Ruth, wife of David Mast of Oley.

Funeral Services were held at Byerland Mennonite Church, Willow Street, Feb. 15. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial Remembrances can be made in Jacob’s Memory to Christian Aid Ministries, PO Box 360, Berlin, OH 44610.
