H. Rodney Martin, 66, East Earl postal carrier, enjoyed Harleys, model railroading, family time

H. Rodney Martin, 66, of Stevens, died Sunday, April 21, 2019 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

His wife, Carol (Zimmerman) Martin, survives. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Harold H. and V. Lorraine (Gerhart) Martin.

Rod was a postal carrier for the East Earl Post Office for over 40 years and received the 1,000,000 Mile Safe Driver Award. He enjoyed family time, his Harley, model railroading and creating special layouts at Christmas, and loved his pets.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Rodney C., married to Shannon Martin, Cameron, N.C.; Robert S. Martin, Havre de Grace, Md.; Wyatt Zimmerman, at home; Haley Zimmerman, at home; seven grandchildren; and a sister: Patricia, married to Perry Buch, New Holland.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 2:30 p.m. at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland. Interment will be in Red Run Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
