Gwendolyn Sue Koch, 73, hairdresser, enjoyed holiday decorating, shopping at thrift stores

Gwendolyn Sue Koch, 73, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at home.

She was born in Ephrata to the late Samuel and Miriam (Dubbs) Powell.

She graduated from Wilson High School in 1963. She received her cosmetology license in 1970 and was a hairdresser for many years. She enjoyed shopping at thrift stores, spending time with friends and family and decorating for holidays. Her compassion and friendship will be missed by many people. She often talked about a new body in heaven and how she prayed daily for friends and family to know God.

Gwen is survived by her husband: Larry Koch of Mohnton; a daughter: Shelly Koch of Mechanicsburg; a son: Seth Koch of Reading; a brother: John, husband of Lisa Powell of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two sisters: Donna, wife of Richard Heck of Denver; and Sylvia Wilhelm of Quarryville.

Services were held Jan. 26 at Mohn’s Hill EC Church, Reading. Interment was in the Mohn’s Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gwen’s memory may be made to Teen Challenge, 33 Teen Challenge Road, Rehrersburg, PA, 19550.
