Eugene S. “Genie” Usner, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Keystone Villa.
He was born in Ephrata to the late Harry and Salinda (Shealer) Usner.
Genie was a member of Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schoeneck. He worked as a plasterer, and after retirement, went on to work as a groundskeeper at Foxchase Golf Club until the age of 85. Genie loved hunting and going to the cabin in Potter County, he enjoyed antiquing and took great pride in his home and garden.
He is survived by a son: Robert Usner; two daughters: Sally (Daniel) Stahl, Pamela (Anthony) Aeillo; six grandchildren: Jason, Ian (Barb), Emily (Tim), Katie, Adam, and Molly; six great-grandchildren: Chase, Amelia, Tallulah, Scarlett, Ronan and Oscar; and five siblings: Pauline Martin, Carl Usner, Mary Lou Weaver, Harold Usner, and Esther Fuehrer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Ruth DeVerter; and two brothers: Galen and Russell Usner.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 14, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Airy Cemetery.
