Ruby (Geiser) Cook, 93, Denver, licensed practical nurse, enjoyed traveling, avid Steelers fan

Ruby (Geiser) Cook, 93, of Denver, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Windber to the late Millard and Myra (Knavel) Geiser.

Ruby was the wife of the late Dr. Thomas W. Cook, a Pittsburgh physician, who passed away in 1971.

She was a graduate of Windber High School in 1942 and a graduate of the Pittsburgh School of Nursing, having received a degree as a licensed practical nurse.

Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and loved the Lord dearly. She loved to travel in Europe and many states in the U.S.A. She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers who she watched faithfully. She was a former member of the Pittsburgh Church of the Brethren and most recently a member of East Cocalico Church of the Brethren where she served on the spiritual life board.

Ruby is survived by a loving son and daughter-in-law: Charles R. and Cecelia (Miller) Cook of Denver; a special grandson: Donald Cook of Denver; two step-grandchildren; a brother: Marlin and wife Kathy (Conjelko) of Windber; a sister: Janet Weaver of Troy, who faithfully called her many times weekly; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a precious granddaughter: Melinda Cook who went to be with the Lord in 2009; stepson: Dr. T. William Cook Jr. and wife, Mary Lou; and brothers: Alton and Emory Geiser.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 12 to 1 p.m., at the East Cocalico Church of the Brethren, 4 Bunker Hill Road, Reamstown. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Steve Hess officiating. A private interment will be held in Windber at the convenience of the family.
