Marcus Z. Martin, 86, Ephrata, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at home.
He was born in West Earl Township to the late Samuel D. and Minnie Z. (Zimmerman) Martin and was the husband of Alta S. (Brubaker) Martin for 27 years.
He was a member of Muddy Creek Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference), Denver. Marcus was a farmer.
In addition to his wife, Marcus is survived by nine children: Ruth Ann, wife of Ivan Brubaker, of Thorp, Wisc.; Marlin, husband of Alta (Sensenig) Martin, of Penn Yan, N.Y.; Cleon, husband of Lois (Weaver) Martin, of Dundee, N.Y.; Edward, husband of Anna (Newswanger) Martin, of Liberty, Ky.; Lena Mae, wife of John Shirk, of Cerulean, Ky.; James Ray, husband of Elva (Eberly) Martin, of Narvon; Wilma, wife of Leroy Burkholder, of Stanley, N.Y.; Loretta Martin of Ephrata; Samuel Martin of Denver; a daughter-in-law: Martha (Sensenig) Martin, Dundee, N.Y.; 71 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; a brother: Luke Z., husband of Darla Jeanette (Schmidt) Martin, of Hesston, Kan.; and a sister, Mary Z., wife of the late Benjamin F. Martin, of New Holland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Lucy S. Martin; a son, Stanley Martin; a daughter, Anna Marie Martin; four sisters: Edna Z. Martin, Elsie Z. Weaver, Minerva Z. Hurst, Anna Z. Martin, and one grandchild.
A funeral service was held April 21 at the Muddy Creek Mennonite Church, 988 Beam Road, Denver, with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery.
