Retired Warwick Township Police Officer Sgt. Richard William “Rick” Groff, 62, of Lititz, passed away Dec. 16 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Rick served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a law enforcement specialist. In 1976 he started his career at the Warwick Township. Police Department as a patrolman, and then sergeant, focusing on traffic enforcement prior to his retirement in 2009 after 33 years of service. He continued his passion for law enforcement pursuing his second career as an instructor for the police cadets at HACC. Rick was an avid poker player. He spent time collecting music and appreciating the music world. His sons, Shane Groff and Shannon Groff; and a sister: Vickie, wife of Carmen Muckle, live in Ephrata.
