Esther B. Martin Kurtz, 82, homemaker, mother of three, enjoyed flower gardening

Esther B. Martin Kurtz, 82, Ephrata, passed away at home on Dec. 7, 2016.

Esther was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Ephrata Township, to the late Alvin M. and Elsie Mae Martin.

Esther was a homemaker, but in earlier years worked in a sewing factory. She enjoyed tending her flower gardens and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, Ephrata.

Esther is survived by her husband: Ted Kurtz; and the following children: George (Beverly) Martin, Stevens; Ray (Robin Baumbach) Martin, Maytown; and Teresa Martin, Ephrata; four grandchildren: Jason, Joshua, Chad, and Hope Martin; four great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Adison, Catrina, and Kaleah Martin. Also surviving are three brothers: George (Joan) Martin, Alvin (Susan) Martin, Carl (Shirley) Martin; three sisters: Dorothy Wenrich, Grace (Henry) Horst, and Nancy (Richard) Gemberling; brother-in-law: Titus Zimmerman; and sister-in-law: Marlene Martin.

She was predeceased by her first husband: John L. Martin, in 1972; a brother: Clarence Martin; and sister: Kathryn Zimmerman.

Services were held Dec. 12 at Grace Fellowship Church, Ephrata, with Pastor Frank Rice officiating. Interment took place in Hahnstown United Zion Cemetery, Ephrata.
