R. Dale Gehman, 59, member of Poarch Band of Creek Indians, passionate about broadcast engineering

R. Dale Gehman, 59, of Akron, went home to be with Jesus on Nov. 22, 2016 at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Dale was the loving husband of Darlene Horst Gehman for 34 years.

He was the devoted father of: Mathew Dale, husband of Linda Welch Gehman, Yangon, Myanmar; Sarah, wife of Simeon Beatty, Akron; Hannah, wife of Ovidiu Gabor, Lititz; Abigail, wife of Jerry Allgyer, Stevens; and grandpa to: Eliana and Katelyn Gehman, and Mihai Gabor.

He was born in Carlisle, and was the son of Martin E. and Vernie Lee Barnhill Gehman of Atmore, Ala.

He is also survived by his siblings: Martin “Jerry” (Faith) Gehman, Atmore, Ala.; David (Shyrell) Gehman, Atmore, Ala.; Joseph (Rhonda) Gehman, Pellham, Ala.; and Martha (Todd) Gookin, Atmore, Ala.

He was passionate about Jesus, his family, and broadcast engineering. He enjoyed star gazing, traveling, photography, and walking his dog in Akron park. Dale was a member of Poarch Band of Creek Indians and served on the Tribal Council for 13 years. He was an active member of New Life Fellowship, Ephrata.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at New Life Fellowship, 420 E. Fulton St., Ephrata. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at New Life Fellowship, with Kevin Horning and Dave Witmer officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trans World Radio, P.O. Box 8700, Cary, NC 27512, or twr.org/donate, in memory of Dale.
