Lewis E. Cooper, 81, Cooper Scrap Metals owner, enjoyed Maple Grove Raceway

Lewis E. Cooper, 81, Mohnton, died April 9, 2016, in Treemont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Schuylkill County.

Born in Caernarvon Township, a son of the late Charles H. and Minerva R. (Troop) Cooper, he was married to Marie H. (Styer) Cooper for 60 years.

Lew owned and operated Cooper Scrap Metals, Mohnton, for 40 years, and had been a truck driver earlier. He enjoyed driving motorcycle and loved auto races, especially at Maple Grove Raceway.

Also surviving is a brother: Clinton Cooper, West Lawn; and sister: Janet Lewandowski, Mohnton.

He was predeceased by a daughter: Bonnie L. Cooper; and her life partner: David L. Lash; and brothers: Melvin and Edward Cooper.

A viewing will be held Friday, April 15, from 10 to 11 a.m., from Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, with service to follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Brett J. Reider will officiate. Burial will be in Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton.
