Helen S. Hirneisen, 94, of Keystone Villa in Ephrata, formerly of Denver, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.
She was born in Clay Township to the late Alvin and Erla (Meiskey) Steely; and was the wife of Elmer H. Hirneisen, with whom she celebrated 77 years of marriage on Oct. 1.
She was a member of Mellinger’s Lutheran Church in Stevens. Helen worked for Fleet Aire Corp. in Ephrata for 26 years.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by two daughters: Lorraine, wife of David Eberly, of Ephrata; and Janet Hirneisen of New Holland; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a half-sister: Betty, wife of Ralph Firestine.
She was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth B. Hirneisen; a granddaughter: Julia Hirneisen; two half-sisters: Readith Petery and Merla Lorrah; and a half-brother: Ray Showers.
Services were held Feb. 15 at Mellinger’s Lutheran Church, Stevens, with Pastor Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment took place in the Mellingers Union Cemetery.
