Josephine L. Michener, 79, E-town, nurse’s aide, owner of Michener’s Books, music lover

Josephine L. Michener, 79, of Elizabethtown, passed away June 3, 2015 at Masonic Village.

Born in Oklahoma City, Okla., she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Pendarvis) Myers. Josephine was the loving wife of Robert M. Michener Jr. and they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in September.

Josephine was a nurse’s aide, and she also volunteered for hospice. She owned a used book store called Michener’s Books. She loved music, watching movies (especially Westerns), and sports. She also loved to read and write stories.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Josephine is survived by three sons: Robert M. Michener III, husband of Donna, of Conestoga; Michael J. Michener, husband of Karen, of Mount Joy; and Dennis L. Michener, husband of Julie, of Ephrata; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; a brother: Gary Myers; and a sister: Loretta Wilkerson, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Josephine was preceded in death by a grandson: Michael Paul.

Services were held June 6 at Byerland Mennonite Church, Willow Street. Interment was in the adjacent cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Josephine’s memory to Masonic Village Hospice, 1 Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
