Elmer Ray Bassett, 69, Ephrata, lineman for Henkels & McCoy, enjoyed playing cards

Elmer Ray Bassett, 69, of Ephrata, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at his residence.

He was born in Marion County, Ind., to the late Dudley and Nellie (Gatewood) Bassett and was the husband of Sandra L. Bassett with whom he shared 28 years of marriage.

Elmer had worked as a lineman for 45 years, being last employed by Henkels & McCoy, Blue Bell, before his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son; two stepdaughters and a stepson; a brother: Gregory Bassett of Southwest Port, Ind.; and a sister: Shirleene Shaw of Elizabethtown, Ind.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Bassett; and a sister: Carolyn Sanders.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
